Do you remember the moment you fell in love?
The hardships of everyday life must have melted away,
and you probably found yourself ready to dance to any melody.
Surely, it was the most dazzling moment of your life.
And what about the moment you tried to safeguard love?
You must have felt like a hero, capable of anything.
But when love began to slip away, how did you feel?
Perhaps you quietly held back tears, or found yourself helpless,
unable to react to what was unfolding.
Can we truly define love, which takes so many forms?
It comes without warning, brought by someone completely unlike us,
disrupting our hearts, sometimes offering comfort,
and leaving us to live a life entirely transformed.
Love can illuminate our hearts and fill us with bravery,
yet it also brings anxiety and sorrow before vanishing without a trace.
Encountering a world different from our own brings feelings
that are as frightening as they are intriguing, and at times, deeply fulfilling.
In 2025, Korea National Opera will explore these subtle and
complex emotions through opera.
What is love?
What is it about it that gives us the wisdom to stand against authority
and the strength to remain composed even in the face of death?
Why does it wound us so deeply yet have the power to save us?
