so much hate in here! Slow pitch is much trickier than most think. I've played baseball my whole life on many levels and I always thought the same thing until I started playing it. It's a much different swing and timing at the plate for starters. Not to mention if you have a pitcher that can really get some rotation on the ball. Then you got fielding yet. I was a catcher who converted to 3rd base for slow pitch. After my first game at 3rd it changed my whole perspective about softball. When you have a bigger guy who's been hitting their whole being able to just tee up and rail the ball at you its no joke. I'd love to see those who say otherwise to stand there and let someone like Bubba Mack rope line drives at you!! I'm not afraid to admit I wear a face mask. The pitcher from my team wishes he was wearing one when he had to get plastic surgery from take a shot off of the face. Those being ignorant just haven't stepped out and see what this SPORT is about!! #BavarianLeague

I feel yeah man!! I played baseball for 5 years of my life and hitting a baseball was nothing new to me and throughout my whole life after baseball, i still had a pretty good timing of hitting an object that was thrown at me. when i first played slow pitch softball, GOOOOD DAMN was it an eye opening experience. Between relearning how to hit the ball, how to field it, and relearning the timing about the whole game truly changed my perspective and now im a full blown addict of slow pitch.
I was a catcher who turned first baseman who turned second baseman who turned left fielder. Now im an all star left fielder/right center fielder. It truly takes some skill to be able to crank home runs each and every at bat.

Carl Rose 1 handed grip gives you an extra 2 inches of bat length from 34" to 36". I switched my grip in 1991 when playing with Carl Rose in league play. He gave me one of his bats. I also reduced my bat weight to 28ounce.

@@darklordojeda it all started when the USSA decided to use red dot balls ! By the third inning they were lopsided and mush. So in steps the bat companies and they created these multiple alloy bats that would compress like a slingshot and magically 160 pound players started hitting the ball out . $300-$500 bats and some teams we played were sponsored by Easton bats and in tournaments they unwrapped 5-6 new bats just for tournaments ! I pitched for 15 years and it got very dangerous toward the end of my playing days in the mid 2000's . We played in a dozen state tournaments in Pa at Drifton softball complex and they changed the rules every damn year because of the bats and roofed up animals . All bats are checked and and they can only use bats that pass testing! Sure thing. Its a leverage thing. Its like when you use a sledge hammer you start off hands apart but slide both hands as far down the handle as you can during the downswing. With the hand over hand, hes at the furthest leverage point of the bat. You sacrifice control for bat speed.

hahah no not at all. Be the pitcher with out protection and see if you can play lol. Remember in slow pitch we have bat control which means if I wanted to I could easily hit down the middle towards your legs. It is a lot harder than you think. You go back I place in front, I make you move forward then I just hit it past you. You go to your left I hit to your right. You can also have 5 infielders at one time if need be leaving 3 outfielders. Still wont help.
