  • Spectacular highly rated beach-side amusement park. Boardwalk, rides, arcade, beach and wharf just 90 minutes south of San Francisco, California. This video includes drone footage.
    Classic red and white wooden roller coaster called Giant Dipper is picture and fun perfect. It travels up to 55 MPH. We also explore these other rides too: Loggers Revenge, Free fall, Pirate Ship, Fire ball, Looff Caraso and the sky glider. There is a pirate theme miniature golf and an arcade area that includes laser tag. Special appearance from Laughing Sal who formerly resided at San Francisco's ocean beach play land amusement park.
    Food is an important part of the boardwalk experience. Funnel cake is a Santa Cruz favorite and we also have the traditional corn dog on a stick.
    Santa Cruz is know for counter-culture and keep it weird vibe -- we found that plus all kinds of people having a great time.
    Fun Facts: Santa Cruz beach boardwalk has Been seen in the movies: Lost Boys, Sudden Impact and Dangerous Minds
    Funny Fact: Theme Parks in California got the okay to open after COVID 19 and according to Business Insurance magazine the California Attractions and Parks Association was advising in new guidelines for patrons to avoid "singing, shouting, heavy breathing and raising their voice". We visited shortly after the COVID shutdown ended but you won't see people in this video abiding by that guideline.
    Enjoy

    Here is summer fun for you! Theme Parks are open. Some call this the Coney Island of the West. Agree?
    Get on board and take the ride on the Giant Dipper wooden roller coaster and other rides. Arcades and food round out the summer time experience.
    Funny fact: The California Attractions and Parks Association is in light of COVID suggesting patrons avoid "singing , shouting, heavy breathing, and raising ones voice on various attractions". We won't see that in this video.
    You all be fantastic and we'll see ya later

    This place is great and a lot of fun, but above all the view at 0:30 left me speechless, beautiful view of the horizon with the sea and a lot of beach.

    Love all the classic rides, especially The Pirate Ship and Log ride, but the Roller Coaster is the best. Our Old theme Park has some of these rides and a few new ones much like this theme park. Laughing Sal is hilarious, totally agree and the Mini Golf is definitely a fun place to play in. Love the animated Pirates. Thank you for taking us along, definitely my kind of Theme Park. Oh, but wait a minute...no Bumper Cars! Have a great day.

    I’ve got Walking Charlie which used to be at the boardwalk in my garage. It had 6 mannequins that had steel cans on their heads that you threw balls at the cans to knock them over.

    I see Laughing Sal has a new different laugh. That’s not the same laugh as when she was at the Fun House at Playland at the Beach in San Francisco

    • @thatplace1
      @thatplace1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice and interesting catch my friend. With all the background noise and her being behind glass Sal's laugh was too soft to include on the video so I added a laugh track -- but she does still laugh.
      I have a video on Ocean Beach and one on Sutro Bath you might enjoy. I rent a bike from a rental stand where Playland used to be.

      @@thatplace1 Cool, I’ll check it out. I grew up in the Sunset Dist in the 50’s and went to Playland many times, and I’ve got lots of pictures from the 30’s all the way up to its demolition in 1972. It was such a seedy but fun place to go to. I’m glad laughing Sal is still alive & well up at the SC Boardwalk along with the 165 Wurlitzer band organ that use to run on the Carousel when it ran at Playland. I actually met the woman who bought it in 1972 and restored it, and a Playland enthusiast along with myself and then SF Supervisor Susan Bierman was responsible for getting the City to buy it back in 1993 where it now runs at Yerba Buena Center at 4th & Howard Street In SF
