    I love and knew Clark .he was a special kind of human being,he worked with my dad Marky Markowitz who was also a pro trumpet player in the studios of NYC

    Doc Cheatham actually played for Bessie Smith's tent shows earlier in his long career. He would be gone in just over a month after the performance in this video. He passed a little less than two weeks before his 92nd birthday. RIP Doc.

    Heard Doc Cheatham with pianist Martial Solale at the Nice Jazz Festival in 1980.
    It was a most enjoyable performance where the two masters of distinctly different musical styles joined to create something unique and memorable!

    Doc was old and a legend.. but consider that none of the guys are less than 75.. Sweets is 85.. Joe Wilder the youngest and 75..
