@@patrickbachman2184 Good morning Patrick. Yeah, the washing is good for the tractors. Unfortunately I got caught out with the round baler in that second shower…so I had to wipe down all the sensors after getting back in the shed. Messy….
Good morning Dawn and Dave ☕☕☕ Supposed to rain here for the weekend and all week.. we will see. Good to see neighbor Dave still going strong!!! From what I've seen, a normal summer, it seems most places probably get similar yields, most get 2 or 3 cuttings of grass, we get just one.. (normally 4+:tons per acre) drought sucks!! Got 5 bales off just under 5 acres yesterday.. not even a ton per acre.. but, some was pretty decent, just a lot of pretty bare spots.
@@Rollinghillsfarmsmn been that way the last 6 summers anyway. Second cut in grass is rare here, mostly because we can't get on the ground early enough..
Dave will sell his half. We should end with a 100 bale surplus but that becomes a hedge against the drought that seems to hit every other or every third year. Plus we’re dropping some fields for next year and still growing the herd. Crazy cow addiction🙄.
Sure glad to see you are getting it wrapped up....I'm going to cut my last small field this morning, rake and bale it Thursday and we'll be done......Sure is nice to have a bumper crop year... Is Rolling Hills Farms going to increase the herd size to eat all that hay? Thanks Dave.
@@brenterickson1695 Yeah that’s the plan. Added one heifer this year with three more for next year. Nice feeling to be done with first crop. Looks like you have a nice week ahead too.
always nice to have years like these when one can make more then enough feed
@@goatfarmmb I’m happy to have a surplus. Nothing will be wasted.
Lots of rain and hay this year.
like an old saying says "rain makes grass"
@@pinesedgefarm1155 Fits with our expansion plans.
Good winter feed for the beef cattle.
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell doggies! Something to be said about a lot of rain, plants don't stop growing.
Excellent first cut yield! The New Holland round baler is impressive…👍
@@HumbleHaymakers Thanks. It’s big and sturdy. Certainly all we need.
I feel your pain Dave
Mowed lawn here yesterday
Got rained out 3 times
Now, my mower is a complete mess
@@tractortalkwithgary1271 August is wet for us so far. July was very dry. June was super wet. Hard to keep up.
Morning Dave…coffee’s on and it finally quit raining here in Ottertail county.
At least the NH got a bath!

Yeah you guys are really more dry land farmers like the big guys in the Dakotas and Montana. We live is swamp country😅 by comparison.

Rain, you've got to be kidding!
@@raincoast9010 Twice!
Great crop for sure
Other than the 15% chance of rain it looks like you had pretty good haying.
Thank you Dave.
Rained on twice😢
Over 2.5 more inches of rain the last 2 days. We just can't catch a break down here. . .
That sucks. My oats and barley are getting close. This week is vacation 😊.
Well, you’ve got a lot of hay to haul. I would guess you’ve got a two or three year Hay supply now.?

I Hope you will have a bit of footage of bringing in the bales.
@@raincoast9010 That’s underway this week.
So now that hay is done, are go going to the mn soil health coalition get together next Friday at Maple Grove farm in Rock creek?
Haven’t decided. It would be nice to meet the YT gang but row crops don’t really work here.
@@Rollinghillsfarmsmn I'm going mostly to meet up with new and old friends, and the food!
Yup. That's the rain that just missed us. I would rather drive slow and crank out the bales in heavy hay than chase light windrows.

How much rain have u gotten since the beginning of the growing season?
@@wilfharder3857 Tons in June…like 16 inches. July was short, just seven.
How many small square bales are in of of your round bales?
@@raincoast9010 We estimate 20 squares for my bales. Maybe 16 for Neighbor Dave.
