I’m not sorry they had to go back because my mom was part of the 6888. She was destined to meet and marry my father (also a veteran) back here in the States.
The movie didn't show them justice. It was a great feat, but it was turned into a love story that was for the most part, not true. It should have been more about Major/LTC Adams and her soldiers leadership, intelligence, organizational skills, and heroism, accomplished the mission.
Yes, especially that part about organizational skills. The big technical flaw that stood out to me (as a military man) was that there was only Adams and her XO as the only officers of an entire battalion (and not even any sergeants). In truth, it would have been impossible for two officers to have even marched 885 soldiers around the block..it wouldn't have been physically possible. When I checked the official 6888th website, I saw that Adams actually had enough subordinate junior officers and NCOs to properly command and lead a battalion of five companies...which is what there should have been in the movie. So, the fact that Adams was not just a lone "big mama" over a gang of women but was a senior officer commanding a proper battalion staff was obscured in the movie. HOWEVER...I'm glad to see these women getting the flowers they deserve, so I thank Tyler Perry for that.
@ Yes. As a military person...No NCO's......Opening scene of trench warfare is of WWI, not WWII. Lots of other military flaws which makes me assume that Tyler Perry didn't have a military advisor. He did have Debbie Allen on set, but see's a dance choreographer.
The movie did establish major Adams and her impressive leadership. Millions of heart breaking love stories could only be depicted by one example and that was portrayed extremely well. Those families waiting by letterboxes for mail that never arrived was especially heart rending. Millions of broken hearts were powerfully depicted by those warehouses full of mail that wasn't sent until the 6 triple 8 made delivery possible after fighting the most horrific racist military bigotry. Tyler Perry did the story and all those women proud. A movie to be proud of by all ethnicities.
Several years ago I read the book " One women's army " on the life of Lt. Colonel Charity Adams. The final scene of the movie is taken from the book. The difference between two the in book event took place on navy ship upon returning to USA.
The 6 Triple 8 movie is deeply moving and makes compelling watching. It's a fantastic movie. Don't miss it. It's a gripping story of dedication to duty, home and country and for downright goodness to triumph over bigotry.

When the 6888 were in Britain and Europe they did not break down barriers in the local communities. The barriers which existed in America did not exist in Britain or in Europe. Every interview I have seen of veterans of the 6888 described how well treated they were in Britain an Europe. They were surprised how little discrimination they faced there compared to America or within the American Army.
@jerrilynpapilon9611… You are so right; it makes me even more proud than when I saw Hidden Figures. OMG, thank you for keeping and protecting your children through all harm and dangers🙏🏾
HALLELUJAH!!! Dedicated life and labors of The 6888 paved A GOD-GIVEN WAY for me and other females who have later served within The USA Military. By GOD'S FAVOR, like The Tuskegee Airmen and numerous others, our ancestors, military or civilian, slave or free, made sacrifices that anyone can continue to benefit from, worldwide.

I thought they were great because that one girl fell in love with the a Jewish dude and the Jewish dude made her great which made Them great 🤔🤔🤔. I’m so confused 😵💫
It was depicting one love story to represent them all, as the story was about the militaries racist bigotry and the amazing 6 triple 8 battalion that overcame it. A brilliant movie.
I had no idea about these phenomenal women! The movie was well written. I enjoyed it immensely!! We struggled, fought and survived as we do as strong, resilient black women! Thank You for this unknown black history moment. 🫶🏽🖤✊🏽
Yes, a brilliant movie and the same racist military discrimination was practiced by many other countries too. Australia and New Zealand were two of those.
Respect is not a given in life. True respect is earned. These ladies in the 6888 Battalion are just a snippet of the rich American black history. Black history is not C.R.T., D.E.I., or "Woke". Black American history is American history. The Good. The Bad. And the Ugly. No more. No less. Period. God bless America.............. A thought from a black American.
Salute to these woman for what they did for this damn country they call USA. 🫡 Our ppl put blood, sweat, and tears for this so called country. Thank you and I will be teaching my students about 6888.
Please stop using the term African American we are Black Americans or Foundational Black Americans just like black peoples in the Caribbean are just Caribbean they are not Hyphenated as if they are Immigrants just like white Americans are Hyphenated as if they are Immigrant even though most of them are so at this point calling us African Americans is nothing short of a insult and you know it especially since we were not always called African American until the nineteen seventies by the Democratic Party. Stop insulting Black Americans you’re doing it on purpose and we don’t like it. And because you insist on calling us African Americans which I consider an insult of the highest level I must change from your video and not listen to the rest.
I expect a lot of readers and listeners wouldn't understand why you object to 'African American' terminology. For example, in New Zealand and Australia there is no term to describe a married couple of different ethnicities. The American term 'mixed race marriage' sounds offensive yet it's commonly used in the USA. It actually sounds extremely racist to us in other countries. Terminology can be very confusing. The 6 triple 8 movie depicts US military racism as it was. We get that because in our countries military racism was practiced just as much as in the USA. In Australia indigenous soldiers who survived that war were refused military pensions on their return. The reason was, they didn't exist because they weren't acknowledged as people so weren't included in the census. Racism at the highest level of government. Firstly, indigenous Australian men fought for the right to go and fight for their country yet weren't even considered to be human on their return.
@ because we don’t let a Democratic Party define who we are and we don’t give a dam what other groups understand clearly other groups let themselves be defined by the white peoples who colonize them and that is not only their shame but also their weakness and the fact that you are attempting to give me a argument of what other groups understand proves my point and for you to think we should be so weak as to except such crap to us is also a insult of the highest rank. WE ARE NOT AFRICAN AMERICANS NO MATTER WHAT WEAK SPIRITED GROUPS WISH TO EXCEPT THEMSELVES. We are Foundational Black Americans not Immigrants.
If you watch the movie that would be a good start. Might make you uncomfortable so prepare yourself for some truth. It's worth a bit of discomfort though. A powerful, honest movie.

They were surprised how little discrimination they faced there compared to America or within the American Army.
This makes me even more proud to be a black woman 😊
@jerrilynpapilon9611… You are so right; it makes me even more proud than when I saw Hidden Figures. OMG, thank you for keeping and protecting your children through all harm and dangers🙏🏾
HALLELUJAH!!! Dedicated life and labors of The 6888 paved A GOD-GIVEN WAY for me and other females who have later served within The USA Military. By GOD'S FAVOR, like The Tuskegee Airmen and numerous others, our ancestors, military or civilian, slave or free, made sacrifices that anyone can continue to benefit from, worldwide.
It's sad that even today racial prejudice against Black American is accepted in a God believing American
We black women preserves no matter the challenge. Hell and back…somehow we make it through the storm.
To the owner of this page do you delete comments or is TH-cam scrubbing comments I’ve noticed some comments deleted … TH-cam sucks
After watching the Six Triple Eight.. it reminded me of Hidden Figures 2:24
I saw the movie and I love it,
✨Oprah played my cousin Mary McLeod Bethune in this movie 💫
What I really think can not be written here. These super special ladies shall deserve more condecoratios than most of the generaks of WII feneraks
✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
Wow!
They exist 🙏🏼
I do believe that this is what chaps racist people behind the most. The fact that skin color has nothing to do with one ability to do a job.
Didn't know there was a movie. Where can I watch it.
Netflix starring Kerry Washington
🕊️🙏🏽🕊️
I watch it , learning curve, great movie and the US is supposed to be the best place to live and they treated humans like this and still do…shaking my head
American American women…. We were already here when Columbus arrived.
💜💕🫶💕💜
Sad, but it won't let me click on the thumbs up
2009 when most would be dead...
Ebony women fighting to fight on the side of corruption and wickedness. What a great accomplishment!!!
The same "accomplishment" that Ebony men was fighting for, returned home and was murdered for. Your point is?
So brave… such warriors… DEI for life!!!!
Saying DEI is a trigger word for a group of people. Even saying the word Black is a trigger.
Such a backhanded compliment. To even insert d e i a system which did not exist during that time is insulting
Like putin now, Germany in the past,America has a real guilt it needs to face. Any American who doesn't think the owe a apology and gratitude to the Black Americans ,the Native American, the Chinese Americans, Japanese Americans, Irish Americans, Italian Americans, and Hispanic Americans, that makes tou a idiot part of the problem, your ideas are old a stale, your hate, absolutely ignorant about Anatomy and phycology. Just facts 🤨
You mean the all American black women core,of African desentants, its the nationality first
The Six Triple Eight movie was masterfully directed and produced with the very best actors and star actresses. Applause to you all👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🫡
It should win awards. I sure hope so. Congratulations to Tyler Perry.
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
💐💐💐💐💐6888💐💐💐💐
Salute 🫡 to all those ladies who accomplished the impossible. You're amazing 🎉
The Confederate States, VA hospitals today are the same as then, same people different time.
I expect a lot of readers and listeners wouldn't understand why you object to 'African American'
terminology.
Please stop using that term african american. You’re taking away from the real african american. You sound too old not to know better💯💯💯
That they were lazy?
Who were lazy? Clarify.
If you watch the movie that would be a good start. Might make you uncomfortable so prepare yourself for some truth. It's worth a bit of discomfort though. A powerful, honest movie.
@josewilliams6094 I don't waste my valuable time watching fabricated lousy black movies. Captain America Black 🤣🤣🤣🤣
