Do you think green screen is an essential element for special effects in film nowadays?

Yes, Fincher uses it all the time and his movies feel always true to life. So Yes green screen is essential to tell a compelling story where show don't tell counts.

@Ey b0ss Yes exactly my point. ;) If it helps the story use it. If the cgi is horrible I can look past it if the story is great, it even makes me laugh to be honest. First man just took a different methode and worked with images that a actor can react to and not have to fake his reaction. That can make a difference in the performance I think. But green screen or big lcd-screens it's all a story telling tool. Recently i made a short movie in gta 5. But it feels real because the story takes you in and not the artificial world.

Sooner rather than later, the technological gap between decent visual effects and visual effects so good they’re undetectable by any standards, not just the naked eye of the viewer, will be bridged by quantum computing capabilities. Renderings that would normally take a day to complete and readjust would take mere seconds, allowing for greater manipulation and attention to creating the most ideal movement and simulated effect possible. The more detailed the simulation of an object, a digital backdrop, a human face, an animal, or an army, the less likely one will cease their suspension of disbelief which is the essence of storytelling in the first place. VFX like every element in a film and it’s creation is a tool. Green screen is like the Motorola razor before the advent of the iPhone. It’s only a matter of time before truly anything can be conveyed through the silver screen.

I am grateful for his sincerity and openness in sharing what has helped him. Most people I have known tend to forget and never mention how they got where they are. Sharing it helps the people who are starting out better. Keep it up!
