Selfish, power hungry, or more recently, they do good just to silence the voices of their past. His big plan was to become a villain and kill innocent people so he could ruin his father's reputation when he finally revealed himself and shattered his father to the core.
Much like all villains Dabi wasn't born one he was created by Endeavour through years of abuse but still he tried to make his dad proud of him. But now he's just a broken man whose hatred for his father burns as hot as his quirk
And in the end showed that he was never a failure. Dabi was always Endeavor's successor in every facet. His father was just to obsessed with himself and his own ego to realize it before it was FAR too late. And the truly cruel thing about this whole mess is that out of ALL of Endeavor's children Touya was the ONLY ONE who truly loved his father...

Okay, yes, Dabi killing more than 30 innocent people is really non-redeemable and terrible. However, you can not deny MOST of what he said was true. Toya was cast aside when he was deemed a failure. There was a moment when Toya said, "You're the one who lit this fire under me, dad!" Endeavor told Toya his whole reason for existing was to surpass All Might. That's it. That's why he thought about why he existed if not to surpass All Might. Now, this is where he created his own purpose, and that's to make his father suffer. Dabi/Toya is someone who was born with a purpose and without a purpose to live for. He was lost. So these purposes became obsessions, and he became enslaved to them. The root of it was Endeavor's neglect and lack of parental guidance.
A crazy man with nothing to lose like Dabi is the most difficult one to deal with. Before joining the League, Dabi knew he wouldn’t live long and just accepted that like it’s not a big deal. Ruin his father’s reputation will be his mark in this world
If he (against any possibility) survives and ends jailed, his father Enji/Endeavor should be jailed too (if he really wants redemtion and recover all the time losed with him, even if that's impossible at this moment) but not before giving the total freedom to Rei with an divorce Jailed along with Hawks (for killing Jin/Twice, Now that surely Himiko died for saving Ochaco's life he should accept that fate if he really wants redemption) and his teacher: Lady Nagant (in case she survives too, cuz she must faced his new crimes such as escaping from Tartarus and joined A.F.O as one his bounty hunters merceneraries) Remember people, he didnt answered yet in an court for his sins as an awful father and husband and fake hero because of that On that press conference, after his cancellation he just faced the fact that his deceased son: Touya was Dabi all this time, raising one of the most dangerous members of The League Of Villains and The Meta-Liberation Army/Paranormal Liberation Front and due to that, being also responsable for all the kill count and devastation caused by his son since he started his villain career and joined to the League and The Army/Front

This paved the way for the people nation to doubt Heroes.
