Yes I remember film cameras! I used to sell them at a camera store in the 90s. Old cameras you have probably still work well, but finding film and getting it processed might be difficult now. 📷
At the very start I though this was about "Port aux Basques" somehow. The south western end of NL Canada. I stayed there several days in winter 1998(!) I think due to a ferocious storm. Watched as the storm blew parts of the hotel and gas station across the street away. And this being a place that's seen plenty of storms. And I know a member of well known lighthouse keepers here so I'll check with them on ghosts. I suspect there will be many: Cape Spear, NL (north eastern NL) Great story. Thanks Wes. And yes, I want to see more!
Doing this job I managed to gather a basket of these sorts of stories. I'm gonna get part 2 of this one turned out, but I have to travel over the next week. We'll get it done... just may take a couple of weeks.
I love it !!! The lonely life of a 1900 century light keeper and family. The hardships they had incurred in keeping the sea fairer safe. Think of all the lost souls around and under the lakes. Those that ended life before their time. Yes -- more, please
I’ve been at this lighthouse at night for the last three years. I’ve never been inside the keeper’s quarters, but have night / Milky Way shots all around the tower itself. I can’t exactly recall any sense of a spirit being there to watch me take the photos, but the area at night during the off season is very beautiful and the skies above are among the darkest in the lower Peninsula of Michigan. I’ll have to see if the spirit(s) announce themselves during my next night trip.
Hi I'm currently an assistant keeper living in that house right now and that room. Is the bathroom. Plus, in the three nights I've spent there so far, I have felt no sense of spirits or even portals anywhere on the property except for the memorial at the front of the park. Even then, it's docile, not strong or constant, and not a part of the lighthouse itself. He was just a pilot that went down in Lake Huron.
I think you have to view that dark blob not as a face looking at you, but a 3d profile form of a head with a slender neck and hair pinned in a bun on top (at least that's sorta what I saw). A side view of someone looking out the window not at the camera, but something else.
Hey Wes, I got a question for you, maybe a possible task if you like. You think you could identify the paddle wheel wreck at De Tour Village, Michigan (Northern Lake Huron)? It's partially out of the water off Dawson Street (Google Maps) I have it pinned and labeled on Google Maps as the Sainte Marie, but I'm not even sure if thats the name. Could make an interesting video.
I've seen it a couple of times. The late Ralph Roberts and I discussed at length and the best he could say was that there was a good sized ship boneyard there for a long time- so anyone could have towed anything there and deposited it.
We have a “ghost” at my work I say “ghost” because there’s not been any visual proof of any apparition but in the bathhouse the door to the upstairs opens even if the door is locked and the shower curtains get pulled like someone is trying to open it. We jokingly started to refer to it as “hollow man” but now that’s just its name, we used to reference the name to a trick of the light as the old lighting in the plant we work in used to cast shadows that moved opposite of your direction and it would scare the daylights out of the evening and hoot owl crews. However we knew what that was but the bathhouse ghost is pretty unexplainable.
That's okay. When I first got the photos I'd pass them around to flight attendants and other pilots while I was dead heading to see what they thought. About 20% had your same opinion.
I think I knew Martha, she restored a lot of great places, if you go to the Pointe Aux Barques museum there is a couple of buildings she restored and moved there that are very old
Amazon does not play nice with publishers. They'll only order a low number of books, which sell out immediately, then it takes them forever to reorder. You'll do better ordering from Avery directly when the book comes out. Visit www.averycolorstudios.com The books will be here when the printer delivers the first few pallets full... should be any time now.
Yes I grew up in a house that was built in 18 89 that is original to my hometown it sits on the same block as our museum and it has a ghost and his name is Francis but we've done the research and the child that died in the house name was Francis I can even show you the headstone
Pretty cool! I'm usually a bit skeptical as some things are easily explained but I do keep an open mind. We have 3 ghosts in the 115 year old building where I work.
I watched this video because I’ll be tending to this lighthouse this summer…and living in that house. I’ll be sleeping upstairs. I should’ve ignored all of this lol.
That is my accent. I flew with a native Frenchman for two years and while in the cockpit there really isn't a lot to do at 37,000 feet. So I took all for the French based names on the Great Lakes and had him teach me how to say them. He said that I had an American accent that simply would not quit.
Really? You've been watching to many seasons end of tv shows! Nice cliff hanger! Marketing 101 keep em waiting more!! Lol I am not a believer in goasts!! Mainly because I have never seen anything to convince me they exist! So you have peeked my interest! On with the story DAD!! Lol
I am totally skeptical, not buying it- but that is because I do not believe in ghosts. Regardless, I have no explanation for what you photographed and commend you for your non-hysterical approach and presentation.
Your best video yet Wes and yes, the follow-up video would be most welcome.
Agreed!
I'm working on Part 2 but I have to travel over the next week or so... but stay tuned I'll crank it out as soon as I get back.
Was just there yesterday, what a beautiful place. We are going back sept 25th for the tower climb I can’t wait!
Have fun!
"Aside from the one over at NSA"
I love that! 🤣😂
Nearly everyone else missed that one.
I really want that follow up
I love a good ghost story.
I'm working on Part two, but I have to travel over the next two weeks, so it may be a while- stay tuned.
How intriguing! Looking forward to seeing your next video!
it's up already
This is one of my favorite of your stories.
Thanks! That makes the work worthwhile.

That is exactly what we're going to look at in Part 2.

It's one of the best spots on Lake Huron IMO

Could you draw an outline of the face on the image? I don't see it.

That was what got me- she's not looking at me, but she is gazing almost due west. and not at the lighthouse itself. That could be a clue.
@@laszlozoltan5021 Thank you for the description! I can finally see her face.
@@jeanhutchinson6198 I am glad to hear it helped.

@@authorwes so her true identity will remain a mystery?

It's an interesting mystery. I am skeptical too. I don't see any obvious human head or face.

hey Wes, could you do a video on the J.A.W. Iglehart. I would like to know more about it. thanks!
Great suggestion!
We want to see it! It would be fascinating to know who she was

@@authorwes Thanks for the information and the website.
That was a brilliant video, all the best from Scotland
My Scotch mother says the same back to you!
I love your videos. Bring it on!
Thanks!
great story, wes! did you see the lighthouse movie from a couple years ago? what did you think?
Sorry. Didn't see it.
I thouroughly enjoy all of your videos!!!
Thank you very much!
Took me a second to see the face, but it is unmistakable once you see it.
Yeah. I was exactly the same way.
When do you think the next video is comin' I really wanna know more
It's in work. The hard part is getting images to go along with the story.
@@authorwes ok, thx for the update, I'll keep posted

That is really cool. At least two of the light stations in Michigan are haunted by children.
Follow up asap! I’m intrigued!
It'll be a while- I have to travel this weekend and next week.
Thanks Wes it was very interesting and I enjoyed the video
Glad to hear it!
I’d love that second video!
Definitely want to know more Wes.
I'm working on Part 2, but I have travel for the next week or so. Thus it may take a while.
We're interested in the follow up video!
Any idea of who this person may be?
A few good clues will be in Part 2. Gonna be in a week or so, I have travel over the next week, so I'll be away from my desk.

2:49 is not "Bock", it's "Bärk". It's French for boats. Bark, like bark on a tree is close enough for the native English speaker.

That'll be in part 2. Of course you can never fully pin such a thing down.
There is a ghost among us we must send it to some lighthouse
I don't believe in ghosts unless I see one in 4K full colour 😁 but still want to see your follow up 👍
It'll be about two weeks- I'm away from desk on travel doing author biz. until the middle of next week. Glad you like it... love the 4K remark! LOL
