I met Bob Wright at motocross shoe I think I was 11. That year I got my first motocross bike I raced curden park I remember the track being more scary the bomb hole was a hole drop in and climb out. It terrified me as a kid that’s to Bob hi ring me a poster that he signed they was on my bedroom wall for 10 years I’ve rode bikes all my life. Track motocross enduro I’ve tried everything there’s over twenty bikes in my garage. Thanks Bob your a gent. Thorpe was another hero. Wow this brings back memories of long summers and riding till it was dark. I’ve still got my bike I raced has a schoolboy but now it’s immaculate. And I still love it. Motocross is a life style choice. I’ve never looked back. Great people great times. And some of these guys are heroes. And I don’t say that lightly. Great video it’s a shame that track is now a housing estate. I’d give anything to spend one more day on that track.
Wow I had pictures of these guys on my bedroom wall noyce on his 500. Bob Wright signed picture at a motocross show I remember the bomb hole my eyes shut going into it . 14 and scared to death. I drove past the track one day on the m6. And the track was a estate I was devastated. I’ve still got the bike I rode there in 1977 it led to a life long obsession still got a garage of twinshock motocross bikes. Thanks mark for the video it’s made my day.
Fantastic! If you are still around on TH-cam, thanks for posting this. It brought back a lot of memories. I was there on that day, as a very excited 11 year old. Graham Noyce was my hero. The 'course operations' between rounds that the commentator spoke about involved fishing out a bike, which a rider had dropped in the previous race, from the extremely deep mud in the bomb-hole.
I rode on that track myself back in the day, not hundred percent I was there to watch Noyce at his best, but remember being there when it was muddier, I know unbelievable 👍👍⛈⛈🌧🌧
I had the rolls Nocys poster. He was riding the 1980 cr500. That looks more like a cr250r. I think I was there that day I’d gone to see Bob Wright race. A few months later I was on the start line with Thorpe. That was the only time I saw him. The start line. He was serious I spoke years later. He has mellowed and he’s a nice guy.
yes they make the modern 500's still service honda and service kawasaki both make a 500cc two stroke, retrofitted into the modern frames with modern suspension and such. very nice and very expensive bikes.
@lilaxey no they dont make them anymore, but they are still a very popular bike. they have race championships dedicated to them. my dad rides it on his kx500

Nothing more beautiful than a full on MotoX circuit, the sights, the smell, the dirt...
That was brilliant. Took me right back.
