I think you're supposed to wear these driving watches with the head of the watch on the underside of your wrist so you can check the time without taking your hand off the steering wheel.
This style of watch was initially designed to be worn on the inside of the wrist. Cars of the 1920s and 30s had huge steering wheels because they didn’t have power steering. The wheel was held at the 8:20 position not the current fashion of 10 to 2. Put the inside wearing of the watch with the left hand held at the 8 o’clock position and you have a perfectly orientated and readable watch.
Hi Simon, I have the quartz version with the black dial, it's a amazing looking dress watch, the quality of the watch is better than so called bigger brands, i where it on special occasions and get lots of compliments, You're West London brother, Peace ✌️
One of the best looking dress watches I’ve seen. I’m picking up the yellow gold version in the November sale. Great point btw about the dial orientation when worn on the right wrist. No one has picked up on that before.
Very nice watch Simon. The dial is excellent. Nice case shape too. I don't mind non hacking to be honest. I have a couple of older non hacking Orients. There is actually a trick to hacking those movements, maybe with this too, but I don't bother doing it . Excellent review as ever Simon ! PS. I just noticed that the orientation is actually very useful when using a computer keyboard!
That’s cool and many others may feel the same but I have to be honest, I don’t get non-hacking movements personally. Thanks for watching man and I hope you’re well 👍👍
Got the white hand wind version in the March sale. Just superb. I wear it with both the brown leather it came with and a quick release Milanese bracelet to dress it up. Baltany are doing a great job on their watches great finishing and prices.
Which movement model is the hand wind, if you can tell? The sale site doesn't say. I think I'd be more likely to go for a hand wind on a dress watch like this.
@@turk914 It says it’s the Sea Gull ST1700 on the Baltany site - think this is just the ST1701 automatic without the rotor. It also made the watch a couple of mm thinner that’s why I got it.
The watch looks great, love the numbers that are on the dial vs indices. I can see the usage of the diagonal of the case shape, prefer the 12-6 inline with the strap. Thanks Mate!
Great review 👍. Like you I wish they did this with normal dial orientation, but I loved the case/dial/hands so much I bought the centre seconds miyota 9039 version when it came out last year. To read time easily, I have to wear it inside my left wrist.
Wow, I didn't know that. Could be a good business opportunity there to set up an India based watch business and get watches directly from the manufacturers!
Both are great options but it really just depends how much you want to engage with the watch, if a lot id go for the hand wind movement, if not then the auto. Let me know what you settle on mate 👍👍

That sounds about right mate 👍👍

Nice of baltany to do something different with their package, and the dial color is spectacular 👌
Honestly mate Baltany are doing some very, very impressive stuff at the moment and I see them just going from strength to strength 👍👍

That’s a stunner. I think if I get this watch, I would go with the silver/white dial with the quartz. Thanks for the great review!
I know the one mate and it is a very good choice as well 👍👍
No other than Patek Philippe also doesn’t use hacking because it it harmful for the balance wheel
I didn’t know that, many thanks for the information mate, much appreciated 👍👍
@@WatchtheTime so: propps to Baltany!
@cedarcanoe indeed and I didn’t say anything to the contrary. Just my opinion on non hacking movements mate 👍👍

@brianmsahin very true 👍👍
So which would you recomend the automatic or hand winding one?
Both are great options but it really just depends how much you want to engage with the watch, if a lot id go for the hand wind movement, if not then the auto. Let me know what you settle on mate 👍👍
Absolutely not. That off center stuff would drive me nuts. Is that OCD ?
Possibly but it would drive me nuts too 🤣🤣👍👍
Are there here any girls? 😊
I doubt it 🤣🤣👍👍
