Mike chu , kenny anderson and rick jaramillo took us there and the planet earth house where ceasar singh and all PE rippers stayed . Was too good and the man is humble !
Great episode. He became an instant idol right after Hokus Pokus. Was really cool to hear him specify his skate footage between H-Street and Plan B that never got used where he focused on skating cleaner and faster. When I saw that Solana Beach footage with the "hand flip":), fs bigspin and that 360 flip was so smooth.

The shoes were just clean, and I had just finished watching Mouse and Welcome to hell. Seemingly polar opposites like Jaime and Koston both rocked those kicks. Seemed like a no brainer to acquire a pair. Anyway, thank you Chris, Roger, Kelly, and sal for another excellent episode. I love this. I have watched many videos on the 9 club. I found a pair of Sal 23’s about 15 years ago. I been into skating since the late 80s. I had 2 dudes call me out on wearing fake jordans. I was like these are Sal Barbier shoes. Hes a black skater & kills it. One of them got really upset. I laughed at them & told them that if they wanted to go, at least one of was us was dying & at least one of us was going to prison. They left me alone. Thanks Sal
Man this is so legit. I grew up near Galveston, TX in a small town about an hour from Houston. Around the 7:00 mark when he talks about the first board, the water logged one. Man...all the feels. My first board was an ever slick Santa Cruz back in like '92-'93. I found the board on the side of the road. It had small roller blade wheels on it and the hardware was rounded on the top like straight from Home Depot. Roots, man! You always have been and always will be so legit, Sal! I started skating back in 97 and his shoes were super popular but I had never saw any skating from him except a 23 ad in a skate mag. Never saw the old videos from before 97 up until the past few years on youtube so I never saw his video parts. Sal is kinda all over the place when he's explaining things here but he'll randomly say some pretty funny stuff throughout the whole interview. Funny guy. I LOLed at the end when he was talking about construction workers who listen to rock-rap that say stuff to him. Haha funny stuff.

I grew up loving eS back in the golden era. I currently have four pairs of eS, including the reissued Accels and SAL 23s. I love the slim versions (although the insoles could be a little more comfy on the heels) otherwise great looking shoes and they feel great to skate in...that's not including the other pairs of eS I have. I had too many of their shoes back in the day to even remember. So glad they're back. I just hope they're able to start getting their shoes back into skate shops across the country. These days all that shops sell are Nike and Adidas. smh A skate shop selling that shit in the golden era of skating would've went out of business!

grew up watching Sal tear up Downtown Baton Rouge around the centroplex. the shit he could do off those stairs defied physics. i am a few years younger than Sal and was an average crap skater at best so I only spoke to him a couple times by chance meetings and he wouldn't remember me from Adam, but he was always cool and never acted like he didn't have time to talk to us common dweebs. easily became my favorite skater once he went pro.
I bought Elwood by the boat load from Shilo Greathouse for yrs. My assistant and i....(i owned a small skate co bak day) would travel to the valley like this...😊😮 😃 on the way to meet Shilo to buy a STACK of Elwood denim 4star stuf.......kenny anderson was jus 😎 chilln there on day. I knew he was kinda outspoken and funny, but not this level. “Attack of the Nineties assholes.” 😂 He ain’t lying. Skate culture was kinda fucked back then, with tons of vibing. It was also magical and amazing, but it got pretty ugly 92-94.
