I saw both players play in their prime, and to me Abedi Pele ranks in top 3 best football players Africa has produced this far. He could win matches with his amazing skill. He could make the first teams of every top national team in the world of his day. He helped guide Olympic Marseille to their first Eufa Champions League trophy together with the likes of John Pierre Papin and Chris Waddle, against a seemingly invincible AC Milan. Franco Baresi, the best center back in the world at the time had nightmares that day because of Abedi Pele. To me, he is simply the best Ghana has produced in recent memory, and my memory goes back to the great Ghanaian team of 1978 which beat our Uganda Cranes 2-0 in the final. Tony and Abedi were inspiring footballers of our time. Tony became a household name in Frankfurt at a time racism was high and earned the name Yegola. He earned respect for black footballers. These two deserves the first two spots. Asamoah Gyan if had scored the penalty, he would have taken us into the semifinals and being the only African team to do so but didn't. I don't like the list of players and the positioning. The stadium in Kumasi, was named after Baba Yara, because during his playing days no one could be compared to him. His talent was legendary. After Real Madrid won the European cup for the fifth time in a row in 1960, they played against Baba Yara' s Ashanti kotoko and could only manage a 3-3 draw. Even with Puskas and Di Stefano, Baba Yara was the man of the match. Maybe you people never heard of both Puskas and Di Stefano. Well, before the great PELE came on the soccer scene, those were the masters of the game. Therefore, How could a list of big time Ghanaian footballers be made without Baba Yara's name. The problem with compiling an all time list like this is comparing different generations.
