    Living as I do less than 5 miles from Gatwick, I know never take the Gatwick Express - it’s often only 5 minutes faster and a lot more pricey! The standard trains (southern to London Victoria - good for the west end) or Thameslink to London Bridge / Blackfriars / kings cross st Pancras is good for the city and connections to travel north.
    Also if you get bored, it’s great to take the monorail (I know it isn’t but everyone calls it that!) between the terminals - it’s free and kids love it! 😆

    London is great! I try to visit from US every other year (thanks Corona for wrecking it this year!) i've used Gatiwick and Heathrow, no issues. I train from Gatwick to Blackfriars, tube to Tower Hill, 3 minute walk and I"m at my hotel. This video was made 1 month before my last visit when drones caused a huge airport shutdown and I ended up staying 3 extra days there.

    I have a question, I will soon travel to UK from Spain, I would arrive at Gatwick airport and I have to go to Dover.
    My question is can I take a train from the airport to Dover? If you have any advice that can help me I would appreciate it lot 😊
    Thanks, Iris

    I love Gatwick Airport. Its elegant perimeter road, its state-of-the-art monorail system, its kerosene-stuffed aeroplanes soaring overhead like aluminium eagles. It's the London airport it's OK to like. Stansted, or Stanstead, or Standstead or Standsted as it's variously known, is an arrogant upstart. City Airport? Full of bankers. London Luton isn't in London and is barely in Luton; and Heathrow is just an absolute TIT of an airport. No, Gatwick is the place to be.

      You can use it to/from Gatwick on the normal train! (not Gatwick Express, which is overpriced)

    Hi, we are travelling to Gatwick Airport on Saturday 09/10 and our flight arrives at 20:00 pm. I was wondering if there are Oyster ticket machines at the Airport that we could use to buy Oyster cards and use them to buy train tickets to London (our hotel is near Victoria Station), or if there is an Oyster desk that we could address to and if so, would it be open at the time that we arrive? I would much appreciate any help that we can get as it is our first time to London! Thank you very much in advance!

    • @loveandlondon
      @loveandlondon  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Christos, I'm not sure that you will be able to buy an Oyster card at that time, and if your flight is delayed, I'm not sure any of the usual places you can buy one will be open. You also have the option to buy Visitor Oyster Cards to get sent to you, or you can buy Heathrow Express tickets ahead of time (you'll get them super cheap if you order now, because the earlier you buy the tickets, the cheaper they are) Hope that helps!

    Jess one question: is the Southern train reaching Victoria Station, I saw their schedule and it says to get into Clapham Junction and then walk to Victoria is it that way or is Clapham the stop before? Thanks in advance for your time and answer

    • @loveandlondon
      @loveandlondon  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh gosh no you can't walk to Victoria. Certains trains go to Victoria. When you're at Gatwick it's very easy to see which ones do as on the board it will say "next train to.... London Victoria" super easy,.

      Haha. You can walk if you want! Will take half an hour but you can get direct trains from Clapham to Victoria. And From Gatwick as well.
      At Clapham tou can also change for Waterloo which is more central London than Victoria which is on West Central London

    Hello Jess I have a question as I purchased two separates tickets due to coupon rules, one from Venice to Gatwick and then after a few hours gatwick to Oporto , the airline company told me I need to pass through the customs and then go from the arrivals to the departures and pass through the security again (same terminal) how far are departures from arrivals? How can I reach them? Looking forward to your reply and thanks in advance

    • @loveandlondon
      @loveandlondon  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on which gate you are coming from and also which terminal the second flight is departing from, you might have to change terminals. Just follow signs to exit and then follow for departures for the terminal you need.
