My father and I were both US Navy officers. He was stationed in Edzell Scotland when I was in primary school. Then I was stationed there in 74-75 and 80-83. I am convinced the UK weatherman has 365 ways to say it will probably rain today!
Promotion from Tom to L/Cpl; L/Cpl to Cpl (Junior Brecon or Netheravon in my day); Cpl to Sgt, Senior Brecon. Infantry Officers don’t undergo this. Royal Marine officers do. I’m not anti-authority. Served with some bloody superb officers. But was also ‘led’ by the odd shocker. And you have to ask how the hell did you get a pip. JNCO/SNCO Battle courses were serious courses with many RTUs.
I hated the -45 degree weather in Shilo Manitoba Canada. Especially winter warfare exercises in improvised shelters. I think Id hate the British rain even more.
As a Boy Soldier (16 and 17), our company went to Brecon on two occasions for training both of which were in the most horrendous weather. The second time I was so waterlogged I ended up in hospital for 3 weeks with pneumonia. Some bright spark said that the SAS had been there at the same time but had been recalled.... Yeah right? 🤪🤪
I used to go to the Brecons every week for years. Wonderful place. The best seatrout fishing in the country,, the videos are great. Just to.add its a wild wonderful place I did quite a few exercises there on our return from Borneo. To tell the absolute truth Most of our guys would of run rings around this lot. I don't want to be obnoxious But !! Well I am talking about 1966 so a long time ago. People and the army has changed.
There needs to be more home quarters for married soldiers and all the support they need as a nation we need to reward our armed forces better pay better everything and they shouldn’t pay one penny in tax for the risks they face. They have been taken for granted by successive governments well enough if you want recruits give them the respect they have earned.
Anyone know of an annual test comprising 10km , 35kg plus weapon ,helmet, water, in 1hr 45 , next 20kg plus weapon , 2mile speed march , jerry can lift , then dummy drag .
Clickbait. It's a platoon commanders battle course for all Infantry regiments. After basic training most the courses are the same apart from the nco, s cadre course which is done in battalion. An old mate of mine is on here Scots guards who went on to do 23 years and ended up wo1.
Bye Bye you HAT. Make way for a couple of proper ABN soldiers. HaHa. What is the point of sending armoured cavalry soldiers on those courses. never saw this series. Looking fwd to rest. ken was dying to laugh on camera. Seen it all before. I dont understand why he has normal para wings. Should have UKSF wings up.
Lack of fitness and preparation. Not unusual for hats. They always think they can rock up. Do the. Course and pass. They should know the score beforehand.
