    Its very interesting how much our low loaders in Australia differ to over there. Nearly everything hear is hydraulic widening with ramps and hydraulic suspension, and we use rows of 8 axles on the bigger weights. Loading a 336 on one of our 5X8 swing wings would only take 40 minutes.

    • @HHTV60
      @HHTV60  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Speed of loading is only important if you do local work and have to load/unload 3-4-5 machines a day. a $1,000,000 trailer would be nice to have but it's not necessary when you haul 2-3 loads a month.

    • @AUSSIEGIZMO76
      @AUSSIEGIZMO76 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      HHTV that’s true... or trying to beat curfews to get out lol. 5x8 Drake ‘swing wing’ that widens from 2.5m - 4.2m with aluminum wheels all round, drop well deck, hydraulic gooseneck, sliding skid plate (for using a dolly or Jeep) retails around $650k aud. I tare a neat 42tonne with the dolly and a 163tonne GCM rated K200 primemover and that gives me a 94t payload for a 136t gross. I could never go back to boring general freight after 15yrs with this co. doing heavy haulage with Cat as our major client. I only subscribed yesterday after one of the fellas I worked with mentioned your channel. Been enjoyable!

    I do rigging for a living, I've unloaded many multi axle trailers. As a company we always help the driver where needed, to assemble and teardown the trailer. Definitely exhausting work for one guy, great video.

    Could you weld some sort of swivel type attachment to each side of the neck? Then when you hook a chain to each swivel maybe it would rotate as the neck is raised and lowered? Maybe allowing smooth bind free fflipping . Of course that's a big big maybe:-)

    • @MYTOYMAKERZ
      @MYTOYMAKERZ 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes something like swivel D rings. Very good point I was thinking the same. Smart minds think somewhat alike LMAO Thank You

    • @robertallred2368
      @robertallred2368 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you had hooked the chain through the d-rings and then brought them towards the excavator, instead of around the sides, it should work better. I think this is right. I've never done it before but I used to operate equipment .

    • @grizzlyjohnson1059
      @grizzlyjohnson1059 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually a D loop cut from a 3/4" plate welded vertically to the front of the flip neck would solve it. The D would allow for a chain to pass through it and as the neck is flipped, it will rotate on the chain.

    What an absolute stuff around. There is both pros and cons to each but the way we do it here in Australia is far simpler than what i just witnessed.

      Yes sliding skid plates and hydraulic widening but we don't have to be so long in the dolly

    Good afternoon Colonel,
    Keep up the great work with all your videos!!! There always great to watch!!!
    I would like to pass on some information if you don't mind.
    Another gentleman on TH-cam that does excavation had told his audience that when you have a Cat excavator like you do is the number of the machine is 336 that you just loaded. You disregard the first number of the machine which is 3 and the two numbers after that will give you how many tons that machine is. So in your case it would be 36 tons. If I remember correctly that works for all construction equipment except Komatsu.
    If anyone would let me know if that is correct I would appreciate it.
    Be safe out there Colonel and can't wait to see your next video.

    • @MYTOYMAKERZ
      @MYTOYMAKERZ 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I also had seen the same in another channel but I think this only applies to Cat machines but I might be wrong. Take care

    • @HHTV60

      You think I don't know that? the last 2 numbers is the weight of the machine in METRIC TONS. CAT 336 = 36 m. tons = 79,200 LB. In my case it's heavier because of the options it has. But that's the weight for a base machine. Many other manufacturers follow CAT's suite and name the models after their weight.

    Can you explain the benefits of the Jeep how much more weight you can load ? In a video thanks

    • @HHTV60
      @HHTV60  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      i thought i mentioned this already like a million times. the major reason you need a jeep is when you're 1) taking a load to a jurisdiction where lift axles on trucks are not recognized; and or 2) you need more axles for the heavier load. if you get a typical 20,000 Lb per axle on a 8 axle rig, that's 160K gross. Minus the empty weight (say, 50K) that leaves you 110,000 Lb (if you are lucky). That's theory; in real life 4 axle trailers without boosters rarely get 80K, so you need a booster/spreader ..

      @@HHTV60 thank you for taking the time to explain this I got thanks I'm working on a 4 truck hauler I'm cutting it to a two and a half car hauler the setup is like a lowboy so my tongue weight is 2000 lb empty so I'm thinking of making a Jeep for the front to put it behind my motorhome you can see it on my TH-cam page thanks again

    So why is it that the guy with the black picikup diesel is letting it sit there idling? I never did understand that; so many do let them sit and run and burn fuel, and at close to $3 a gallon. I have had many diesel pickups and never did I do that. I guess it might have something to do with a macho thing...the deep muscular sound.

    Man theres gotta be a better design to make your job a little easier on you. God knows all those frigging trailers cost a mint to buy. There has to be something that can be adapted to yours by hydraulics or something to make that easier to set up. I take your truck wont reverse up onto the front of your trailer and pull the jeep down for you. Im just asking you captain out of concern for your well being. That has to get old going thru that everytime you have to load and unload
