Pretty pretty nine, spinning spinning blind Fitting into crime, itch to fuck and grind Death Grips is online, drinking from its spine Living till I'm fine, pretty pretty nine Color me a cult, echo in my throat Cut it for a smoke took it for a spin Spun it out to float, blew me as a friend Fuck it I'm a go, Death Grips is online
mag bay mentioned in the final minute. let's #freaking go. imaginal disk is easily my album of the year. after my first listen I was pretty confident about it being one of my favourite albums of all time, and 4 months later I think it's safe to say it's earned my number 1 spot. everyone who doesn't listen to it is doing a disservice to themselves in my opinion (crazy goblins still clears it though)
Hey JAR! I’ve said stuff like this in the past, but I literally cannot stop myself from doing it again. I heard Alex and Jim briefly mention Steely Dan in the previous year’s wrap-up (apologies if you mention them here too, I might have missed it). Whilst you talked about their first record, and specifically Reelin In The Years, I got the impression you hadn’t heard their later work. Whilst their later 70s albums are very different, the fact you guys mentioned jazz, Stevie Wonder, and Duke Ellington here leads me to think that that combined with knowing their earlier stuff might make the rest worth a look (they literally covered an Ellington track in 1974). I would love to know if you get round to checking their stuff out - I’d recommend the album Aja from 1977 as a start point.
if you are looking for female-led/female featuring bands, I'd check out Beach House if you haven't already. Then on the indie rock front: Another Sky, Home Counties, NewDad, Camera Obscura, Los Bitchos. Alternative/Post Rock: Black Country New Roads, Mint Field. Low-fi dreamy: Cindy Lee, Still Corners. Beth Gibbons as well, but you guys must alrady know her!
Video game asset flips are perfectly fine. With creative devs you can get a completely new experience eg Majoras Mask or Tears of the Kingdom. So that elden ring thing will be A Ok
Cannot recommend The Witcher books enough, especially to Jim given his reverence for The Wild Hunt. Super easy to read, wonderfully funny at times, and lends lots of context to the events of the games. As someone who has been meaning to get back into reading for a long time, these novels have definitely been the highlight of my year.
Have u guys ever done a soul level one run? If so how'd it go, if not would you give it a chance? I think elden ring out of all of them has the best and most enjoyable player expression at level one and I recommend the challenge!
Pleasantly surprised hearing Jamie gush over Cyberpunk and the Witcher. What a come back, from calling cyberpunk a piece of shit when it first came out to a masterpiece. But I’m mostly surprised he called it his favourite game from CDPR, didn’t he say the Witcher 3 was leagues above it like a year ago? Also Jamie mentioned it for a bit but how do you boys feel about the Witcher 4 reveal? Are your expectations lower or higher given the initial release of cyberpunk and has that changed playing the game today?
Any Cyberpunk enjoyers able to explain how they get past Keanu's awful acting? I want t like that game and the gameplay is fire, but the Johnny character is one of the worst acted I think I've seen in a game, and he's so omnipresent
WRAP UP THE JAR, PUT IT IN A JAR, TAKE IT TO A BAR, WATCH IT GO FAR, PLAY IT GUITAR, MAKE IT GO RAWR, BECOME A SUPA STAR
Pretty pretty nine, spinning spinning blind

What is that?
I can't believe this is the last Jarcast episode of 2025!
Idk why but whenever y’all talk about music it’s my favorite thing
If Alex really cared about music he would've put the up down album on Spotify by now 😡
Alex was such a brave explorer of the video game realm this year.
What has James been doing all year? He didn't mention a single show, movie, game or song
i love hearing the love for GNX. wacked out murals is my standout
Shoutout to Lotus Flower, underrated song from a very underrated album
burgers float around my room

number one drake stan james house had to go into hiding after not like us dropped truly unreal
I think given how much the jarboys loved Hades, they should give Balatro a shot
Don't worry about Grimes and Elon being friends. They separated after having three children: X Æ A-Xii, Exa Dark Sideræl and Techno Mechanicus.
Techno Mechanicus sounds like something Immortan Joe would name his kids.
A mighty cozy & jolly good time with the bri'ish bois.
It's a (post) Christmas miracle!
Nice Future Islands shout from jamie, that was my favorite album of the year!
