Used to use this glitch all the time! I’ve beaten the game legit enough times I can’t count lol so I’m going to do a playthrough with a bag full of broken daggers and just blow through so I can see all the maxed out weapons. Thanks again man awesome video and this game is a real staple of my childhood. Remember dad and I buying it on launch day in May 2001 and spent that summer after 3rd grade playing the shit out of it!
has the glitch been patched? i tried selling the knife with broken dagger but it only sells for 100 not 16k plus
@@renzodevilas9655 sell your broken Dagger enhanced weapons to the Old Gaffer in Norune Village it seems even on the PS5 you can exploit this glitch but to get it to work there's a little story progression to do in regards to setting it up properly.
first start a new game and do the dungeon until you have Paige's House, Pike and all of the requirements to trigger the event for the Old Gaffer. after that you'll get an expanded store listing where the Gaffer will sell weapon attachments. do what you see in this video and attach the broken dagger to any weapon you have in your arsenal then sell it to the Gaffer in Norune Village.
Thanks for this, i always wanted to see all the upgraded weapons and this saves me from grinding like a mad man.
My pleasure. I felt exactly the same way. I'm not opposed to doing SOME grinding but Dark Cloud asks for more than I'm comfortable doing if I wanted to see the top tier weapons.

Thank you for this video. I beat the game recently but I wanted to go out of my way to build up all the end game weapons. This will help a ton, I won't be using them as attachments to upgrade, i'll just use them to sell for gems. That way I still get that small bit of grind in there. However, this does still work right? I mean if so, I'll find out tomorrow when I play the game either way xD. Thanks for video.

I can’t get the money glitch to work on the PS4 version?
Things I've learned since making this video:
* Do not put the dagger in a x2 slot
* You've got to be using English as the language in order to get the dagger to appear. (h/t SevenDeagle)
* Only put one broken dagger on a weapon at a time when you're trying to sell for money. (h/t GreenGranados)
* In the UK version the broken dagger attachment must be pulled from the weapon or item section of the menu, not the attachment section (h/t Selman Erdogan)
* If selling back to Jack is only returning 100, try selling to the Gaffer instead. (h/t ExumWolf)
* If none of the above changes help you, try doing the old PAL version of the glitch (you can see it here: th-cam.com/video/8AE9rlW9jZ0/w-d-xo.html and see if that works better!

Thanks for showing this, this is insane I had no idea. Played the ps2 ver now playing ps4 and did it on my first try but my guilty conscience is telling me not to use this exploit so early in the game 😂
My pleasure! If you hadn't played the game before I'd definitely say not to. I'd also say not to if you want to have any challenge. Like I think I said in the video, I waited until I'd beaten the game and then did it to make the demon shaft go faster.
Argh this is so annoying! i have broken daggers equipped to a kitchen knife but when i go to sell it back to him it only sells for 100 gilda?
Make sure you don't build up after you equip the broken dagger to it. And are you sure you grabbed the right knife? You see in the video that I grabbed the wrong knife twice when I went to sell it. Also, it may not work with quick sell you may need to drop it into the merchant window in order to get the price right.
It looks like sometimes this stuff make work differently depending on which language you're playing as. Are you playing using the English language setting?
I might do this since I don't have time to grind through the game for the story line.
Yeah. You can easily beat the game without this. But you won't see all of the coolest weapons and stuff without either doing this or grinding insanely.

Your problem is that you had him build the shop before you had Pike to help him so he hurt his back. You're probably gonna have to start over. :(

Dude I knew about this glitch but the way I did it was different consider8ng the broken daggers did the max stats but they made any weapon cost 0 so this trick just saved me hours of bank grinding
My gaffer was injured so I thought I couldn’t do this but I went to jokers shop and just moved the ice and it works there too.
When I try to sell the kitchen knife with the dagger on it, it still sells for 100. I don't understand why.
There is a list of things to check in the pinned comment. Check to see if any of those will help!
Could it be, that it doesn‘t work anymore? Because if I do this I just get a black square but I just can place it in the normal bag and can do nothing with it :/
Oh I fixed it by myself. Because I play the game in german it didn‘t work, but I switched the language to english and then it worked. After that I restarted the game and switched to german and the broken dagger is still there. :)

@@itsnicksal Based on my research and what I've seen from others you want to make sure you're playing on English, you only equip one dagger at a time, and that you don't put it in a x2 slot. Are any of those your issue?
So I've been able to get the attachment but when i make the sale to jack i only get back 100 is anyone else having this issue I've tried ones with big bucks ability and with poor it makes no difference
A few things to make sure you try:
* Don't put the broken dagger in a 2x slot
* Don't put more than one broken dagger on a weapon
* Make sure you're playing the game in English. The bug doesn't always work when the game is set for other languages.

@@Hokius Yeah, that money glitch didn't work for me either. I think it's because the PS4 port is a newer version so they patched out the money glitch. I have been using the sigils in the dungeons and praying to RNJesus that I don't get the Funds Decreased effect. :(

So this is kinda late but I saw other people were having trouble trying to sell the kitchen knife and only 100 for it. Don’t sell to jack. Try selling to the old gaffer back in norune village, did that and got the money I was suppose to get.

@@Hokius Pretty much all of it, I think there's a random generated number on each save that makes broken dagger give different stats, in my game it doesn't give full stats up so it might be that
@@Hokius Btw I tried selling old my gold (16k) and as soon as I stepped in a blue circle i doubled it, now I only need to grind for another double money circle and i'll get the trophy, it's not the same glitch buy it'll do the trick lol

One of the other commenters I talked to on here pointed out that if you're playing the UK version of the game you've got to do the trick while on the item or weapon page instead of the attachment page to get it to work. Try that.
Hokius thanks for the reply mate. I’ve just tried it on the item page, still no joy. Will try it on the weapon page in 2 minutes. I get the broken dagger easy enough, equip it to the kitchen knife and get the boosted stats, but when selling to jack, not quick selling, only offers me £100

My stats keep going negative, the glitch works but the stats are messing up, not putting it in the double slot neither :(

Has anyone ever been able to figure out why sometimes the weapon with the broken dagger attachment sells for NEGATIVE 16000??? This shit is driving me up the wall.
Money part of the glitch seems to not be working for me, got knives and placed the attachments on them(did not upgrade) am dragging them over manually to sell at jacks store but they only sell for 100... Im playing the version that is english on PSNow. Am I doing something wrong?
When you say attachments you mean the broken dagger attachments, right? It doesn't work with just any attachment, has to be the broken dagger. And it can't be in the x2 slot. One other thing to keep in mind is that there IS a money cap in this game. If you're near the cap you can't sell your item for more than what would take you above the cap.
@@Hokius Thanks so much for the reply! And sorry yeah I mean the broken dagger. I equip the broken dagger attachment to the first slot of the kitchen knife and try to sell them back to Jack but they only sell for 100. Im only at ~2000 money so I don't think that's close to the cap.
@@GreenGranados Are you sure you're grabbing the right kitchen knife? Even in this video, I grabbed two of the wrong kitchen knife that I hadn't yet put the attachment on before I managed to select the correct one.
@@Hokius Yup, I bought two kitchen knives to test it out and attached the broken dagger to both knives to the first slot. I'm using the ps4 version of the game and the only thing I have left is the 100 floor dungeon left if that matters.
@@GreenGranados Hmm. None of that should matter. I was definitely using the PS4 version of the game and timing should be irrelevant. In fact, when I did all I had left was also the demon shaft. All I can think to recommend is to try detaching it from one of the knives and put both in the selling thing and see if either of them sells for the correct price, I can't remember if I tried having it equipped to multiple knives. Also be sure you're not quick-selling (it doesn't seem like you are, but just wanted to mention it) because I don't think I tested it that way.
Anyone knows why if i put the dagger on a weapon to make it op the weapon broke?
I just tried this on ps5 version. This kinda works, but it gives negative stats on monster stats. Am i doing anything wrong?
I did this trip that you did and all I got quench fragile and he'll also when I attach it to my weapon the abilities doesn't go Max the line goes the opposite way and with the b section It just gives me 9 on them and doesn't Max only the auntie Marine
Try checking out some of the tips and alternatives in the pinned comment to see if any of those make a difference!

Nope. It won't break anything about your game at all. It's completely safe.
UNLESS YOU TRY TO GRAB WITH A BROKEN DAGGER ALREADY VISIBLE, GLITCHES YOUR INVENTORY! Otherwise yeah, perfectly safe.
The glitch still works for the broken dagger but for me it gives me minus element instead of maximum

Hi I’ve tried to this glitch so I can get the money trophy without grinding, I live in England and using the English version of the game, the broken dagger glitch works but gives me negative stats that when I put on the kitchen knife it only sells for 100, I tried the PAL version too but still only sells for 100? I think it’s cuz my broken dagger stats are different to yours in the video can you help?

Hokius thank you for the quick reply! I went and watched that video and it gave me the dagger with the correct stats! However when I put it on the kitchen knife and sell it, it still sells for 100, in the video he sells it with a bone rapier do you think I need to get myself that sword?
@@benbriggs3176 I honestly don't know. In my pinned comment I see that someone told me they had that problem but when they sold to the gaffer it worked. You'll also want to make sure you're only putting it on one weapon at a time.
Hokius I figured it out! What I had to do was instead of using the empty slot in the gaffers shop to get the broken dagger, I used the video you showed me and did it from the ice gem! Got my first batch of 17k now gonna keep going!

So I can use the dagger as a synth sphere? I only use it for selling because I was afraid of it can not be used for level-up/upgrade.
Yep! For some reason when I used it that way I lost all of the abilities on it, but after you've upgraded it, you can just put another on there and get those back.

Hi, thank for the video. I had brought dark cloud on PS4 pal, last night and saw this glitch so I try it out right away after couple hours play and it didn't work! I on English and got the broken dagger like you did and put it on X1 slot and it show some negative number, bar going to left of the screen and not all stats work and only show three power up thing. Any idea?
Try the PS2 PAL version of the glitch (I found a video here: th-cam.com/video/H_IdB6MPwG0/w-d-xo.html). I think that should get you where you want to be!

Why do I have all the statistics down when I put in a dagger?
I noticed that when I put it in an x2 slot I could have that issue. Make sure you're putting it in a regular slot and not an x2 slot.

Finally got a working weapon attachment except it sells for negative 15762...
Now it's not negative any more but he won't buy more than 2

There’s one thing your not talking about and that’s the invisible items that can’t be used and take a physical space in your pouch I had just used this cheat and it works but that’s the only problem with it. On a side note there types of broken daggers that I’ve gotten the one you got and one that gives you more money as well as quench and other vary helpful skills. I’m also going to try to see if there’s any way to avoid those unwanted items so I’ll add more to this post if any thing works.
I don't know anything about invisible items that can't be used. This video is just about the broken dagger glitch, so that's why I didn't research or mention them. So far as I can tell all the broken daggers give you the skills and make your weapons worth a lot of money (primarily because it sets the weapons to max stats and adds skills which makes them valuable). I've never seen a difference.
The broken dagger thing has a lot to do with the games value and cursor placement. For various results try lining up certain rows with your inventory. For example if you go to gaffers shop, go to the gold bar item, and go to the bottom of any page (I believe) you or get a full positive variation of the broken dagger that is the has the same stats minus the poor being replaced with big bucks and durability replaced with another Stat I think.
Certain stores also yield special results. I remember finding a back floor key for the last story dungeon which is known to not be obtainable in the NTSC copy of the game in the fish market lady in queens. The fairy King store has the most wild and unpredictable menu as I found most attempts would freeze the game (40% of the time) but allows you to get in to the "secret item menu" of the game but the longer you stay in his menu the more at risk you are to freeze the game.
@@Cycadia Fascinating! I tried from a variety of rows and stuff in my own time and never noticed a difference but you're making me want to go back and experiment some more.
@@Hokius I believe the video by pokemonfan4000 (think that's his name) goes in to greater detail on some of the stores and menus mainly the safest and most reliable way to getting in to the secret item menu by using old gaffer and then going to the hag in the village. As to how to navigate that menu as safe as it is its beyond me. As I remember more of my attempts at these store glitches I remember getting a glitch wise owl sword from the wise owl but the wise owl for some reason had the most protected store as for some reason I couldn't replicate any daggers or such at all besides that one glitch item and any other forced attempts crashed the game. It might be I was doing something wrong but I remember clearly never wanting to use that store for glitches.

I have to say if you legit just do ANY OTHER element orb you would get a broken dagger with only GOOD stats instead , abs up , money , health , etc...
Hey thx for the video ! But it doesn't work in my ps4... i'm from france and i play with english language. I tried all tips you said, but every broken dagger i drop don't have the same stats as you... i have 46 ic and 46 Ho and 99 only for anti marine... the rest got under 0 stats. The "special" are fragile and heal.

Apparently you used to have to do this glitch different in the PAL version of the PS2 game. Maybe try it the way shown in this video: th-cam.com/video/H_IdB6MPwG0/w-d-xo.html and see if that helps?

There's got to be more to this though, just today i pulled out a legit item (''moon signet'') out of odd gaffer's store, i'm still trying to figure out how i did this.
Glitches like this are usually things developers put in while they were testing to make things easier and forgot to remove or assumed players wouldn't be able to find.
how much has been found out about this? It would be cool to spawn any item from the dagger glitch.
Also i've seen the broken daggers change into diffrent weapons, i wounder if they do diffrent things
@@__________8146 Unfortunately, I don't know the answers to your questions. Despite the fact that this is easily the most popular video on my channel I'm not really a glitch guy. This is literally the only one I know how to do. :-D I recommend seeking out other people who have a stronger focus on that aspect of video games.
Can you help me like I have the broken daggers but when I put them on a sword all the stats are all over the place and some not on the screen and I can’t build it up when I do it’s just “???”

Make sure you're not putting more than one broken dagger and you're not putting them on a x2 slot. Doing so will break the weapon.

@lexdack9106 so far it's save b4 u try the glitch so if that happens u can just retry also do the glitch after u equip the dagger even if it's already equiped just press equip then do all this from the attachment slots not weapon slots and it works alot better
For anyone that doesn’t have the ice attachment in the shop you can still do the glitch just drag an item from the store and put it where the ice would be and the glitch works. I just did it 2023.

@@Hokius nothing but put them in my inventory however when every I close out the game and they are in my inventory they are replaced by the broken dagger icon however they are like fake broken daggers that dont increase any values or anything.

Are the skill randomized on the broken dagger? I sometimes get one with poor skill which causes it to sell for a lot less.

Who doesnt like small chance to one shot things? Surprisingly can work on bosses and funny enough can work on enemies that are immune to certain elements (that display no effect) haha

@@Hokius there is a glitched antique sword in the glitched menus that I believe always procs critical on enemies that are the same type as its anti armor stat. Pokemonfan made a video long ago, however from what I remember its prone to crashes as well, maybe the game doesn't like getting overflows dud to crit abilities.
@@Infinit3Enigma I might have to go check that out. I'm not really a glitch person, as a general rule, but this game was too stingy with weapon XP for me and I wanted to see what the best weapons looked like, and this one doesn't seem to ever cause problems with the game.
