    Facts. price point and size is exactly why I do Legends and Classified. I can't see me doing Mezco or Mafex, much less Hot Toys or Statues. Every so often as collectors we might switch up your setup and move stuff around...Hot Toys and Statues, are giving you a hard way to go.

      Yeah exactly, I just did my room over a few months ago and I was like damn, these Hot Toys kinda stick out. You want them to look right and it has to make sense so it took me a little while. I found a place for them on top of the glass cabinets but I only have a couple. It would be more of a headache if I had more.

    5:54 It's interesting that you keep your boxes. I've kept all mine as well, but between my Marvel Legends and all my other figures (Star Wars Black Series, GI Joe Classified, etc.) I've got over 400 boxes, and I can tell you that even these relatively small boxes can start to add up to considerable space. I put the boxes into 30-gallon totes and I've got around 20 of those. Lately I've started to think: _'why am I keeping these?'_
    Organization - Mainly, I do like how the boxes have trays to hold the optional accessories. But when Hasbro temporarily went to "low-plastic" packaging, I went to a hardware store and got a small parts organizer to hold the unused accessories. I've found this to be so convenient that I'm tempted to transfer the remaining accessories out of their original boxes/trays.
    Resale value - I don't plan to resell any of my figures anyway, but even if I did, I don't think the box adds much value to them. Certainly it does for high-end or import figures, but not really at this price point.
    Protection - As you mentioned, these figures are pretty durable, but when storing or transporting figures, I do like to pack them back into their boxes just for that extra level of protection. However, I've acquired most of my figures after moving into my current residence four years ago, and I do not look forward to the _hours_ (and hours!) it will probably take to pack all my figures up. It would be so much easier to pack them straight into totes, perhaps with layers of padding to give them a little protection from bumping into each other.
    Anyway, I haven't made any decisions yet. It feels almost like a grieving process, to be honest. I think I know what I need to do, I'm just not ready to do it!

    • @ClevasMultiverse
      @ClevasMultiverse  28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I feel the same exact way that you do. I think when I started I wanted to take up space on the shelf and I used the boxes to do that. As I got more figures I started putting the boxes away. I do use them to keep the accessories and the BAF pieces. Sometimes I know what pieces I have by looking at the boxes or looking up the boxes.
      If I was to trade with someone I would rather give it to them in the box than in an envelope too.
      I think just throwing away so many of them at one time hurts. One by one is one thing. Getting rid of all of them at the same time feels different.
      I think about all of the times that I wanted the figure in the perfect box and now I think... just to throw it away.
      I don't really have any serious reasons to keep them, I look at it as part of my ritual I guess. I appreciate you sharing because I think about those things too!

    Anotha one 🔥, been saying these same things for years, while the HTs and such look great, u can barely display posed and the cost 😬, I always looked at the HT game as a flex move more than anything. Thank you for this comment, I really appreciate you. I think of the HT as more of a flex too! Not that it's bad but it's just not my thing 100%. When I do look at Hot Toys I also need them to be the comic accurate version. Most of the characters that I see are movie versions and not for nothing I didn't grow up with Chris Evans or Robert Downy Jr. Yes they played the role but I don't want them. I want the character that they represent. I don't even like MCU Legends like that for the same reason. That completed team feeling is the best. I just got my hands on Wolfsbane and she was the missing link in my X-Factor for the longest. When I put her in the display case the little kid in me was like.... yyyeeesssss, finally!

    My number one thing is playability. I can sit down and casually pose a Marvel Legend while I watch tv and not worry about breaking it. If it breaks, it can be replaced comparatively easily. Hot Toys are basically art pieces. I don’t even wanna touch those things cuz they’re so expensive and fragile. Break one of those and it’s a HUGE deal. You can throw a Legend in your pocket and carry it around all day like that for toy photography and not bat an eye. Carrying a Hot Toy all day would require equipment😹

    • @ClevasMultiverse

      Very very true. These are the pro's and cons and yes Hot Toys are more art pieces now that you say it. Something to be admired from behind the red rope. I do need that playability aspect because it takes us a while to get that pose that we're looking for and how many poses do we go through before we finally get there right?

    • @spadedonemcdysentery2493
      @spadedonemcdysentery2493 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ClevasMultiverse definitely. And with a character like Spiderman, you wanna have that freedom to just grab him and put him new poses whenever you want. The Hot Toys Spiderman figs are beautiful but are scary to work with and have soft good outfits you gotta worry about and pose around. I could see someone owning one or two Hot Toys for something they really love but having an entire collection of em sounds WILD to me.

    My mindset exactly. I have dabbled into Hot Toys recently for a couple sentimental reasons, but I can’t go down that rabbit hole! I’m strapped for space as it is and there’s no way I start cramming in 12” premium figures, especially when they deserve better displays. Once I recently got to a point where I felt like I had what I needed to represent my fandoms, I went back to vintage (late 80s, early 90s for me). I’ll tell you, snagging a Kenner Batman or a Playmates Turtle for $1-$5 loose in a bin at a thrift store gave me more or a rush than hunting anything modern. Sure they were beat up and missing accessories, but that feeling of feeling like I just pulled them out of my own toy box was nothing I’ve experienced collecting newer stuff. Stuff is getting crazy now. Just seen another toy line is doing Ninja Turtles! It was so much simpler when one company had the rights and that was it (I think). There’s cons to that too, but I don’t think it was as overwhelming.

    • @ClevasMultiverse
      @ClevasMultiverse  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's funny because that turtle collection that I have on my wall makes me feel the same way. Brand new, playmates re-released them at $9.99 each. Those were the exact figures that I had as a kid, one of the few that I was able to get my hands on. They energy I got from finding Splinter and April O'neil... you just can't find that no matter what the price tag is. We all have different brands or figs that do it for us and they are individual to our upbringing and tastes. What makes your collection special is staying true to yourself and that's what makes it fun for us. I appreciate you sharing and commenting, thanks!

    Great video. I've gravitated towards those 6 inch figures lately. I like the extra bit of detail, the pose ability, and the space they take up.
    I display my collectable stuff in my room. So I keep it a small collection. I rotate figures with the few shelves I have. Keep them out for a bit, then pack them in a box and put a new or older figure on the shelf.
    I've even gotten used to getting rid of collectables after a time. It helps with accumulating too much stuff. You also narrow down what pieces are most important that you keep. This goes for figures, model kits, books and comics. Most of the things I got rid of, I just gave away. Don't care about making a profit. Although I no longer collect Marvel Legends (they’re actually more difficult to get in Asia), I completely agree with all 5 of your points. I had 2 Sideshow figures but ended up selling them because I was terrified of them falling off the shelf and breaking during an earthquake. I’ve had NECA fall off and smash, so I wasn’t going to chance something that costs many times more than that. I also sold all my Mezco because I was concerned about the fabrics deteriorating. I mean, I loved the way Cyclops and Wolverine looked - really detailed and with all the joints hidden - but I’ve heard of pleather cracking and spandex stretching… so away they went. On top of that, you’re right about the limited space becoming a huge problem with the larger figures and statues. I’m in the process of selling a bunch of Prime-1 and Nanmu statues because the arms/tails (thanks for including the tails in your video 😂) were getting in the way. I also hate when people ask me how much one of my figures cost. I don’t like answering because then they ask how many I have and start calculating the total. 😅

I keep my NECA's in the box but I don't have too many of them either. lol the tails.... you have to have gone through it to know it right? Something that small (or big) can throw off where you wanted to place it. Don't even get me started on the pocket counting. You can literally see people doing mental math right in front of your face. The worst is when they throw in an unwanted opinion like..... Do you know what I would have done? (Nobody Cares lol)

I remember the one and only time my family got me something that I’d actually wanted for Christmas. It was a knock-off of a Transformer, but I still thought it was awesome. However… I had to share it with my brother because it was a ‘boy’s toy.’ He promptly broke it. 😢 I don’t think there’s a such thing as a ‘boy’s toy’ or a ‘girl’s toy,’ just what is appropriate for that specific person’s level of destructiveness. 😂 It sounds like you are in the exact same situation as me with your inability to relate to those minivans and soccer practice. I also keep that room totally separate and I have a better deadbolt on that door than I do on my front door. The only way you even know that room exists is if I trust you enough to let you know. People just coming through for the first time or whatever, that door is closed and it just looks like another bedroom. Although, I have had people ask me, why is that room locked? lol. It's all relative with most people. They will spend money on things that they think that other people like and other people would cherish. Such as a designer bag, but who is that for? You or them? Do you really want that or do you want it because you think that someone else wants it? I want these figures because I want them, regardless if they ridicule me under their breath. Totally agree with these points, I spent a couple hundred dollars on figuarts and my heart sank when the legs casually snapped off on two of them while posing lightly. I’ve never once had any issues like that on any of my legends or DC 6 inch figures. It’s a shame though because right now the imports are the only way to get good looking anime figures. The cheaper ones just don’t cut it with their terrible face sculpts.

      There is nothing worse than having that happen, especially when you spend that kind of money. It's almost like a slap in the face because if it was any other item you would take it right back to the store and get an exchange or a refund. We're stuck with the figure that we got. I've been lucky and only had 2 figures break on my and it was acceptable because they fell. My psylocke fell from my top shelf and her foot popped off at the ankle. I also had a Wasp that fell off her stand and her arm popped off. When they fall from those heights you kind of know that might happen. Light posing is a whole different story. Dont limit yourself as a collector...i was not patient at first but now i can pay off 6 months worth for a great piece...to me a well rounded collection makes all the difference...example, i have interest in one Predator by Neca but its an SDCC exclusive so not getting him anytime soon lol...but my local store has a graded first edition Predator #1 comic...i started payment's 3 weeks ago and probably will pay off in another 3 weeks....something to look forward to is always exciting, putting a cherry ontop of my Predator collection 🤟🏻....god bless!

      Valid point, when you're mixing in different variations I can see it making sense. I have a couple of Hot Toys myself. I couldn't see myself exclusively doing it though. It's probably just the way that my patience and instant gratification is set up. That predator comic sounds like an investment piece and I'm hoping that it all works out for you! If there are the advantages that take the cake everytime is the articulations and not worry about destroying the suit or the figure of 1/6 but with 1/12 scale it just play and pose with ease of mind.

    OK, yeah so you said give you the questions that I have and it’s quite a bit so yeah, let me get into it first why did you start collecting action? Figures how did you start collecting action? Figures why did you start TH-cam? when did you start collecting? Who’s your top three Marvel superheroes who is your top three DC superheroes who’s your top three Marvel and DC superheroes combined list what are your top three favourite marvel teams what are your top three favourite DC teams? What are your top three combined Marvel and DC teams? What’s your favourite marvel? What’s your top three favourite marvel legends also, will you get into other content like rankings of shows and movies or reviews of shows and movies something like for example would you rank the episodes of X-Men 97I would like to see that. Those are my questions and if you would think about a Q&A video like you wanted to do one I mean you could put up a community pole and see if people can ask you questions and the video with those questions well, but that’s just a suggestion. Sorry for all the questions and also I agree with your room and affordability and also I don’t have the patience to wait a year for an action figure come on. And peace

    I would recommend saving up for a Mezco rather then just buy another marvel legends reused buck. I started with legends but very quickly realized that I had a shelf with Alot of the same bucks just different head sculpts. I'm not hating on anyone who buys them their just not for me. I would rather buy something more expensive that is worth my money and have fewer figures then buy up a bunch cheap figures. They take up Alot of room quick. I have no opinion on Hot toys or statues as I don't buy them. No disrespect intended with this comment I'm just trying to put forth another opinion for new collectors. This is what I've found in my experience, that I get more joy from saving up and not settling for something cheap. Not to mention the Total lack of accessories and paint details on legends. Take care

      No disrespect taken at all. That is a very good point. I do get tired of the reused body sculpts such as the Bucky/Cap that has been done to death. I appreciate when I see new sculpts. The accessories have been lackluster as well but one thing I have noticed is that the paint on the 2024 figures has stepped up a lot. Most of the reviews that I did earlier in the year were really good as far as the paint was concerned so at least I see them stepping it up in that department. I appreciate you taking the time to comment, Thanks!

    Its crazy because i just had this debate with someone who told me i was ignorant for saying i rather have the legends retro dr doom rather than the mezco because i dont pay hundreds of dollars for a toy .My budget says i can spend about $100 on either one toy ,or two or three so i try to stay around that depending on what i want . Also a lot of ppl are hot because that dragonfly is going to be late so this was a fire video and u just got a sub 🫡 You just pretty much defined my whole toy collecting philosophy ,great minds think alike 👌

    • @ClevasMultiverse
      @ClevasMultiverse  หลายเดือนก่อน

      That means that the person who said that is thinking about the msrp and not what he likes. He's getting something that he thinks that somebody else would want because it costs more. At the end of the day it's about being smarter in my opinion. Before I get into a line even if I like one figure the first thing I say is..... How much is the team? Ok I like Wolverine but how much is the entire Jim Lee X men for example? A lot of times that first figure might be 100 then come to find out 1 or 2 of them are harder to find and they going for 2 or 3 times what that first one is and now you're kinda locked in because you already invested. I try to look at it long term because I know that one figure opens the door to the next figure. So how much is this whole Universe? Because that's where it's headed most of the time. At the end of the day, I see people like the one you mentioned get burned out and they wind up on FB marketplace because it might not be sustainable for them. Keep doing what your comfortable with. There is a reason you have your collection and he has his. Their supposed to be different! If you bought everything that he liked..... it would be his collection! Thank you for sharing and commenting, I appreciate you!

      @@ClevasMultiverse i agree ,i dont buy toys to sell so im not interested in value because they only have value to another collector . My thing is i just need that character on my shelf ,i dont need the most expensive one or the newest model ,i just need one . I still rock with some toybiz legends because they still look good to me . A lot of alleged collectors just buy these expensive to cap which is lame to me and not what collecting is about . Everytime there is a haslab you will have guys claiming they bought 10 of them ,which may or may not even be true . Or ppl get caught up in brand names and not the toy ,like blue jeans or purses or shoes . To me ,the retro doom looks just as good as the mezco if you dont know one is diecast . I just need a dr doom on my shelf so i can buy something else . Maybe you can do a video on some of the wack stuff you see collectors doing these days ,i think that would be a cool video . Thanks bro im watching now as you serve up the real ,i dont see too much of that these days peace bro .

      I still love Toy Biz figures. If anything they have a retro feel to them that makes me still appreciate them. You have to collect what makes you happy. I don't buy a new figure just because it comes out. I HATE when I see reviewers say something like... Oh I had to upgrade because this one is pinless... man if you don't STFU. I am not buying a whole new figure because it's pinless! Most reviewers don't really have content like that and they rely on the figure itself, that's why they buy everything. I'm really trying to make this channel different. I will deff put that topic on the list for upcoming videos! I appreciate the input!
