I traded my XR for the GS. The XR is a comfortable sports bike. Very capable. The buzz at highway speeds and inline4 howl at 6k for hours was too much. The GS is a capable cruiser w/ great handling, better wind protection, and loafs along at 80mph. GS handles my wife on the back better as well. If you ride solo in the twisties…. XR all day long.
I’ve had both the XR and GS Adv but only toured on the GS. I loved the XR and it was a hoot on the twisties but I couldn’t imagine doing the tour across Europe that I did on my GS. I’m not a boxer engine fan but the GS is an amazing tourer. The inline four is just a f*** ton of fun but the mileage wasn’t great so I have to say the GS for touring.
@@kostaschaldoupis8522 may be for you, but don't get why you want a 300kg motorcycle. Just did Pyrenees two up couldn't think any thing worse may be a hog .
Great engine, great comfort, great tech, really top heavy making low speed and parking lot maneuvers sketchy, tendency to wander at vigorous highway speeds brought me back to the RT.
@ivanhoe4766 The only negative aspect is the heavy weight in low maneuver. You should service the front suspension if you had wobbling at high speed. It's a touring tank that can follow SS bikes in corners and can drag any bike in lights. Main while it will please every wife in every trip, except off road (it was never my favorite, personally). Please, people, dont compare the shitty Goldwing with the K1600GT cause you will not have a clue what you're comparing with.
@keithwaller4545 depends on the riders size as well. It's not the easiest bike in short riders. You need to be beautiful and handsome to ride a K1600GT. That's a reality :))))

Been on an XR for 2 years now, done 3 biggish tours and it's a brilliant bike. Last 2 trips I started having a few electrical problems, after stopping for fuel or at a peage the screen goes blank and the engine cuts out. It's happened about 8 times in the last 18 months or so, bike starts again and after a few seconds dies again. Sometimes it takes over an hour to sort itself out, BMW have had it in twice and found nothing on diagnostics, so nothing can be done! Can't live with that so I have part exed for a 2024 GSA Rallye, have had GSes in the past and really enjoyed them. Thanks buddy 👍 I'm quite used to riding on the other side of the road. But first time you do it takes some adjustment. The helmet I'm really not sure sorry, who do you mean?
LCR, Got a question. I just rode a R1250GSA for 4 days, over 700miles with a passenger. I did it because I'm interested in buying one. However, after riding it, I realized I can't buy it. The buzzy feeling from the bike above 4500rpm was terrible. Even my wife said the passenger seat and grabrails buzzed so much that it made her numb. My hands and arms were going numb on the interstate. The quick shifter is very harsh and clunky unless its 4th going to 5th and 6th. Lower than 4th it was terrible. The front wheel followed any grove in the road and wondered around. I realized that the 1250 is not for me. How is the 1300 compared to the 1250 in those areas I mentioned?
Just ridden back from Germany Luxembourg France etc on my 1250rt great bike, great roads, came back here (uk) and was immediately reminded of how the roads here are AWFUL! I was out the seat on the rt a few times from lumps bumps and potholes .. Just tested the gs13 .. deposit paid .. lighter and more compliment and gives nothing away with regards to weather protection from the wind compared to the rt . It's lighter easier to live with more power and yeah just bloody awesome. Xr I'd say is too much for the UK roads, torque is where it's at, plus as I get older I want less drama. Be keen to see what you think

Bit of a mad ride did that 20 years or so ago before you had to worry so much a silly speed limits. Just done Pyrenees though trailer our bike down. Just to borring to Motor way it and kills tyre. Plus no fun doing D roads as full of 30k and limit dropped to 80k in places to easy to get nicked.
Had a number of 4 cyl BMWs as courtesy bikes (S1000R, S1000XR and S100RR) whilst my K1600GT or R1200R LC Sport have been in for servicing. Totally agree with a number of other comments; white-finger inducing vibration and constant howling from the exhaust makes them totally unsuitable for touring. Fine for a quick Sunday afternoon "blast" which I guess is what most will be used for, but tiring and frankly annoying for actually going anywhere. The K1600GT, actually not much more expensive than a well specced RT or GS, is far superior solo, and on a different planet touring with pillion. Plus the K's seat height is sensible for anyone less that 5' 10", in fact that was one reason I bought one over an R1200RT SE. A K1600GT may be just over £20k, but you can see where you're your money's gone, a 1200/1250 RT isn't much cheaper or actually much different to a £4k R1150, except it's not as well made.
Have both a R1250RS and a gen2 S1000XR. The 1250RS is by far the better tourer. 20% more economical, and a more relaxed riding position. Had to fit a shorter screen on the XR to get rid of the dreadful wind noise.

You missed out my bike, the R1200RS, boo! lol...... 🙂
What about the R1250RS. Much better tourer than a GS
I though I was watching some sort of food guide at the end
K1600 Grand America
The r1250RS
F800GT with 213kg wet weight , should be new version with +-130-140hp and 210kg wet weight and belt. 1250RS is too heavy, s1000xr don't have bottom.
Chopsy the best BMW tourer is my R1200RS 😂
The best BMW Touring bike is a R1250r cause I have one 😅
K1600gt
Can't beat the super duke GT sorry chops
France you can filter, but only down the outside lane. Avoid Paris, they have some weird rules.
Or GSA, of course 😂
Chopsy paying £1500+ for a rukka set only to wear it for 1 mini tour 😂.
The best BMW has yet to be built … an S1000XR with SHAFT DRIVE
Beer & a Schnitty
I'll take the GS, I've recently tried the 2024 XR and the seat is a bit better than the old model (2022) but it's still uncomfortable after an hour, come on BMW, this is a great bike, but the seat still sucks 👎
the RT is the comfortable one, the GS the travel-bike, the XR sportstouring - so what???
Sausage fest to Germany - how apt 😅
The whole premise of the video is flawed without considering the RT in the mix which is arguably the #1 sports tourer in the world.
RT the RS and then R .... the others are just for sad possers, who think they are going to ride around the world. But most like to ride to macdonlds lol
Tough Gig 😂
Stupid boy Pike = The most comfortable BMW to go touring on is none of these on offer here, its obviously a RT or K16.
But of course it’s a different answer if you choose for fun rather than comfort!
Diets going well then?😂
Wundeshun
Quero a tua vida. 😓
Where‘s yer gloves, Chopsie? Ain‘t yer never ‚eard of ATGATT?
Yes absolutely, bit naughty of me there.. was only between gates on the euro tunnel but yes ATGATT 👍
@@LambChopRides I was probably a bit too quick to post because I noticed afterwards that you were wearing gloves later on. Still, in the interest of all the 8 to 10 year old bikers watching this channel, it‘s good to reinforce the point. Kids, don‘t do this at home. 😜
Xr is the dogs bollocks . If you want to tour or be a nowt .
I was gonna like the video, but that cake part made me hate you...that is just mean. I'm sitting under the blanket and I really don't wanna go get a peace like that.
Best touring BMW? That'll be the RT Chopsy and you should have included it to avoid the accusation of bias!
My 1200RT is super comfortable, has an electric windscreen, loads of luggage space and returns 60 mpg plus has a useful 25 litre tank - none of your 19 litre examples...
