I’d love to see more content on grazing. We’ve had a large influx of homesteaders in East TN. It’s great to have information like this to help folks understand that farming and hunting don’t have to be mutually exclusive to one another.

Deer and many other wildlife thrive after a disturbance. Grazing, especially at a high density, is just another disturbance on the land similar to prescribed fire or discing. And if you mimic the way nature grazed with the bison on the great plains then you graze hard and heavy for a single event and then allow a long rest period for the plants to recover then after a few months/years graze it hard again. And unlike with fire you can actually build topsoil this way because you are trampling the vegetation onto the ground creating mulch that eventually turns to compost and soil.

If you want to ruin a hunting property, put cows on it.

We had cows for years. The hunting got so much better after we got rid of them. It’s insane how much more deer we see now.
