BEING half the height of his wife isn’t a problem for an Iowa man, despite his partner being asked if little people are her “type”. Taylor, who has dwarfism, and Mady have been together for three years, married for two, and say they couldn’t be happier. But the couple have dealt with their share of judgement due to their height difference and even family apprehension. Taylor said: “I get asked ‘why don’t you date someone your size?’ and I say ‘I’m going to date whoever I want to date. A person is a person’.”

I think what parents are concerned about is ''how the child will function in life on it's own'' but they are judging it by a non disability standards. They don't understand that people with disabilities are being treated like they cannot do things and require constant support while the truth is there is many aids that allow people with dwarfism to function like any other person, often on their own, requiring no help whatsoever.

As a blind woman, I would hate to think that a partners parents ever felt unsupportive or concerned about their son dating me... :( I'm glad they came around to their relationship, though!
I'm a trans woman and feel so ugly on the outside I feel like I would love to find a born blind man so that he is able to see me but the real me on the inside cuz I'm a complicated abused damaged mess.

I'm blind and my in laws were very unsupportive. They worried about the extra stress it would put on their son and how would I possibly be able to raise grandkids. That level of ignorance and intolerance is so frustrating.
I don't even understand how people can judge who's dating who. Little people are normal people regardless of their stature. Our differences are what make life interesting and beautiful. I wish the best for this couple!

I knew a little person who i lost contact with. He was completely normal, just short.
His shortness paid off for his job. He was a pipe welder in shipyard. He could easily fit in the tight areas. He got all the overtime he wanted and he worked a lot. He paid off a nice home in his 20s

People with this condition suffer from numbness and/or pain
They're both people who deserve to be loved... Why should a disability that you can't do anything about be a reason not to date someone? People shouldn't be judging this beautiful couple! I wish them all the luck in the world❤

I have a rare form of dwarfism myself, standing 4ft 6in. So, not the smallest but not the tallest. I feel like it's more accepted for the woman to be shorter than the guy. Because on dates my height is definitely talked about but guys don't tend to mind and they consider it more "cute" than anything else. I can't really speak from a guy's perspective with dwarfism but I am sure there are a lot more dating struggles since there is a sort of stigma against short guys.
And the whole thing about dating someone your own size is such a weird concept. I wander where that idea emerged because I was always told that growing up. Not that there is a problem with dating a person with dwarfism but why do people expect us to "stay in our own group?" It's a very isolating concept. All the guys I have dated have been taller than average and I've never had a problem with those relationships in terms of my height. It was more of a quirk that could be joked about. Same with their height.

I'm 5' 1". When the mom said he wasn't that much taller than the dog, I laughed out loud. A person's heart and the content of their character is what matters. Are they kind? Are they compassionate? Honest? Trustworthy? Loyal? Etc? Human beings are attracted to whomever they are attracted to for numerous reasons. I would love to meet a woman who likes me for me. She accepts me for who I am and I in return express the same. A good woman who I can grow old with and enjoy life is where it is at for me. Best of luck to this happy couple and all of their future endeavors.

I was wondering if that bothered anyone else!! I was raised by my biological mom and a wonderful dad who loved me like we were blood even though we weren't!! I hate how so many people are obsessed with having their "own" kids. It's such a sad, narrowminded view of relationships. And biological kids can be rebellious little demons even if you "shape them" as you parent!!

I dated a little person in the early 00's, we would probably still be together if she was more honest. She had a beautiful personality, she just didn't value herself and seeked approval from others in the worst way. I love these two together. How does he fit all that personality and kindness is such a small mold, oh wait, he broke the mold. 😏
They're both sweet and loving, and deserve to be equally loved. The way Taylor talked about how dogs don't judge, I felt that, I used to have a cat who would litterally always know when you're in trouble or need their help. We dont deserves pets😭

This is how people view my relationship with my boyfriend since he is 5'2" and I'm juuuuust barely touching 5'4" I swear. We get stares and sometimes glares and also comments so I can't even imagine how much more the scrutiny is in their relationship.
Edit: Damn, they really said "screw kids up for adoption lol". Like the things is, your bio kid could also come with a mental thing you aren't prepared for and have no say in as well. You don't know what you're going to get or have to work with. Having a kid no matter where they come from is a gamble.
I really didn't like the guy's attitude. I don't know what kind of dwarfism he has but many times little people have way more health issues than just the short stature and keep on going through surgeries, pain, temporary or long term disabilities.
And then he said "we gonna shape IT" like the child is a project.

I’m watching more shows that feature other body types and I’ve noticed how ableist the world is. I’m not naive, I knew people were evil, but I thought we had somewhat moved forward. However it’s really starting to upset me because it’s the most ridiculous thing, just like judging people by race. This couple is great, wish them the best.

These two are a lovely couple. I am happy to see that they want to start a family. It brings me to tears that we live in a society that makes it difficult for people who look a little different.
Planning for children is great because of all the possibilities, but I think it's also equally important to have contingencies in place. If one parent suddenly becomes disabled or suddenly dies, they each need to be able to provide for themselves and the child if life decides to screw them over. And of course, if both parents suddenly die, have a plan in place for who's going to be taking care of that child. I know I'm the unwelcome reminder of reality, but thinking things out this far is a good exercise in believing in yourself, and the people around you.
People spend to much time trying to put labels or judging people because of sexual orientation,height, disability. Why can't people love who they love? The important thing is they're happy and in love and that to me is the most important thing. I wish then all the best, they will make awesome parents

They seem like they will be awesome parents. They spoke of adoption vs. having their own biological kid, but they didn’t mention IVF. You can test the embryos and choose to transfer the one(s) that don’t carry the genes for dwarfism.
Human trials in Australia have started on infants of a drug that could potentially shut the dwarfism gene off allowing a child to grow to average height. It's a daily shot until the child reaches 18.
The only thing is it can cost over $4,000 to test up to 8 embryos. It’s so pricey and it’s not always accurate. Anyways hope it all works out for them in the end regardless of what path they take ❤️
That’s a bit eugenics-y for a lot of people. Imagine loving someone enough to want to marry them and have babies but not enough to have a baby like them.
