    Taking its name from the original and much-loved Seiko ‘Alpinist’ - launched in 1959 for Japanese ‘Yama-otoko’ mountain men, reliable in treacherous terrain - this watch further evolves the Alpinist specifications and overall design - with a legibility focus.
    Its Arabic numerals are a signature feature of Alpinist pieces, whilst the curved sapphire glass, 24-hour display on the bezel and red 24-hour hand enhance the legibility further.
    Ever practical, the watch features a compass functionality, whilst its super-hard coating gives it shine and strong scratch resistance. The in-house built 6R54 Calibre is the first mechanical GMT movement in a Prospex watch to have a three-day power reserve, allowing tracking of two different time zones at the same time.
    Prospex is a combination of the words ‘Professional’ and ‘Specifications.’ Seiko Prospex timepieces are designed to be practical, reliable and durable; to meet the high standards required in extreme environments for sports lovers and adventure seekers alike.

      My mini Alpinist never came with a cyclops but it is around 3 years old

      @@ClickSpringReview infound that mini a tad small, the dimensions on this one better, have you consideref swapping out the movement?

      @ClickSpringReview  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The mini has the 6R35 so is just a 3 hander were as this one is a GMT, If I was to get one I'd just simply regulate it 👍🏻

    I have the non GMT Alpinist, SPB210. When I got it the accuracy was with the stated limits, but at +20 sec a day way too off for me. I am no expert but the 6R movement is easy to regulate and I did it myself to - 1 / +2 sec a day ( depends how you lay it ) and since then been very accurate. I adjust the time to a known reference only once in 2 weeks or sometimes once a month. Not sure why Seiko QC cannot do it better at the factory!

      It's a shame Seiko's time keeping can be all over the place, I'm sure if they increased the price of their watches by $25 but they all came regulated people would be happy to pay the extra

    Hi Barry, it's the same as ever with Seiko, insufficient attention to detail and chaotic time keeping. It's such a contrast to Grand Seiko, which shows the Swiss how it's done. It might be worth comparing this with the Citizen Promaster AIR Automatic GMT at £749.00. It's bigger and a traveller GMT.
    The Seiko is, as you say, a good looking watch that's quite versatile. I'm not tempted though: Seiko's ad hoc approach to quality and accuracy leaves me cold...
    Have a good weekend Barry, LG Bob 🍻.

    • @ClickSpringReview
      @ClickSpringReview  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That would make for an interesting comparison but I don't have access to Citizen watches at the min but hoping to very soon Bob ;)

      @@ClickSpringReview I'd be interested to see how the movements in Citizen watches (as opposed to Miyotas supplied to third parties) stack up on the Timegrapher. I'm not aware of any rumblings on the Internet about Citizen quality, but I might just be looking in the wrong places...

      Ive just been handed a one year old watch with a broken Miyota 9 movement , I've only had a quick look and auto wind module isn't winding correctly. I've a few watches with the movement and normally they are pretty sound

    Love the stadium (multi-tier) feeling of alpinist. Perfectly size and classy looking hands. But 6R's stink for accuracy and this GMT is a stinker too. This is why I can no longer buy seiko, and I just bought my best bud a Sinn 556A RS for about $1000 (German price - vat refund) to show him what a great $1000 watch should be. Good luck with school work.

    • @ClickSpringReview
      @ClickSpringReview  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can't argue with that the 556 is simply gorgeous and has a top movement also, I'm snowed under with essay writing and making an escapement and pallets all from scratch plus a public clock proposal at the min

    I refuse to buy any Seiko’s with the 6r movement. So disappointing that the accuracy is wildly poor out of the box. I don’t expect COSC accuracy at this price but at least +15 to -10 would be nice.

    • @ClickSpringReview
      @ClickSpringReview  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      In all fairness this is the worst one I ever seen from a 6R movement normally I find them to be pretty good Dan

      @kahinchan1 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The accuracy is a joke, my 6 months old Sharp Edged was running 45 seconds slow a day! After regulating by myself, it is running at around 0 to 2 seconds a day (on wrist). The position variances were not too bad. I would have second thought about opening a sport watch, as I am not sure if the watch would still be water tight. I really should not have to regulate such a new watch!

      To me the 46mm lug to lug size is spot on, A leather strap I never strap down tight as I don't want to mark the strap holes

    • @watches202

      @ClickSpringReview 46mm is perfect! Visually, I can't live with the height above the wrist. I prefer a watch that sits low to the wrist.

    • @ClickSpringReview
