Always did have a soft spot in my heart for a pretty chopped Trumpet.
Weems you are a Mastermind for the old brit bikes
Thanks!
Technical point for anyone that is interested. Each scroll takes 35 minutes to cut.
Top Work!
You do amazing work Mr Dutch
Lovely piece sir
Hollywood Run stole my heart ❤
😲😲
I never knew there was a third size of tools. You learn something new every day. Thanks for the info
I never, ever heard of Whitworth tools before.
Holywood Run is so cool. I love that bike.
Whitworth has been round for a few hundred years it’s the tools that all other tools are judged on Joseph whitworth invented threaded nut and bolt in 1841 early British manufacturing used whitworth tools until metric took over
That bike looks absolutely amazing. So cool!
It really is!
ATTENTION CLASS !!
OK, let's clear this up about threads, in America you have threadforms ( ANF or AF etc etc) that are 60 degree based just like the Unified thread forms (Unified Fine UNF,Unified Corse UNC and Unified Extra Fine UNEF which was used to replace British Standard Cycle BSCy) used later on in England (and the inferior metric system).
The 'British Standard' term comes from the British Standards Institute that was meant to unify and simplify things.
Before then, in England, the threadforms were 55 degrees based - we had a corse thread known as British Standard Whitworth (BSW), a finer thread called British Standard Fine (BSF) and a very fine thread known as British Standard Cycle (BSCy) which used two types - 26 threads per inch or 32 threads per inch. Both those forms were of a 55 degree angle and thread depth for the appropriate TPI (Threads Per Inch). These were used on many different diameters of fastener so as to allow fine adjustments to settings.
***Just to add to the cofusion, the spanners - or wrenchs as you call them - are of a different size (in BSW and BSF/Cy) to 'normal' 1/2inch 9/16ths etc etc so as to allow fitment only to BS threadform fasteners.... and a same-sized diameter but different TPI threadform spanner would have a different marking depending upon the threadform - like a 1/4 BSW spanner jaw(for the hexagon) would be the same as a 5/16 BSF. And these designations (1/4, 5/16 etc etc) would refer to the thread diameter and not the nut or bolt's hexagon size so as to allow the user to know what threadform it is ! And this is supposed to be helpful !?!?! - thank heavens for Unification ***
Finer threads are used in harder materials and they can handle higher torque values and so were used in machine tools and other situations where both fine adjustment AND torque settings were needed such as pre-load for different types of bearings (on Cycles ! ) and other situations.
There are other threads like Acme which was a very course thread with a squared-off form used in engineer's vices etc and Vernier thread wich was even finer than BSCy, and not forgeting the British Accedemy or BA threads that were of small diameter and used a 47.5 degree threadform.
This is not to mention varius 'Special Threads' which were often used by manufacturers for different applications and had whatever 'form' and diameter the manufacturer decided !
The term 'Whitworth' is or was used as it was a Mr Whitworth who first suggested the 'unification' of screwthreads (amongst many other things in engineering) as before then each manufacturer used their own types of threads (and things) and nothing would fit (or match/be equivalent to) anything else.
Mr Whitorth was a really clever sod who knew more about each material's matalurgic structure and properties than was actually beleavable as he took into acount the expansion and contraction of materials due to heat etc etc.
Some of the determinations of matalurgic properties determined by Mr Whitworth are still used when decisions are made as to what materials, threads etc etc are used on space satellites which undergo tremendous heating and cooling.
Apparently metric threadforms are not used in space - so my Toolmaker friend tells me and he makes things for satellites all the time !
Lesson over !
Love it. To much info for 1 video!!!
@@weemsmotorco You said it!!.
Or contrary to anything you said in the video. My `56 BSA is a collection of Whitworth and so on , my `69 BSA has a collection of Unified and so on.
As a changeover year the `69 is a constant surprise.
those 2 covers look awesome but im starting to think the other covers need the love too lol. primary, lower forks, drums, oil bag lol. good vid
Noted!
Love the sound of the ole Brit bikes
Nothing beats it!
Well Done Neo!!! Aussies represent
Definitely, major props to the dude who engraved those covers. Amazing work. Cheers from 🇺🇸
He is amazing!
I love your riding shirt , wish they still had that style
Check out Righteous Wretch!
Would have loved to seen disassembly and reassembly of outer transmission cover. More triumph tech would be awesome!
I will do my best to capture it on the next build!
Every pre unit timing cover i got my hands on, i converted to the later unit oil seal from the std bronze bush.
Musta done well over a 100.
Done on a lathe, not a mill, with a 3MT threaded boss fixture stuffed into the headstock spindle.
My average was 20 mins start to finish inc the circlip groove.
Nice little earner....
Great 👍
I hope Flip brought those Icee pops.
No Way...they are free for all who come to hang at the shop!
Gorgeous and delicious is what I see I would definitely order that if it was on the menu! I have always wanted a Harley Davidson preferably a flathead 45 but in my lifetime I have had three triumphs a poor man's Harley they say but after 35 years I still have my 55 Ridgid framed bobber. But 8 years ago I purchased a 1949 45 all stock it's like driving a tractor lol my Triumph also has a sprung rear hub not something you see all the time kind of like an albino😅 your videos have given me so much inspiration my bike is well on its way to being back together after the bolt flew out of the sludge trap and ventilated to crankcase😢 I get chicken skin all over and my eyes swell up when I think that soon I will be able to wrap my legs around my old girlfriend and she will take me away from all the craziness in the world I will definitely send some pics of my Triumph!
Awesome video and awesome content can’t wait for the next video Thanks
Looks great love the covers.
Thanks a bunch!
Didn't get a chance to tell you, but the H.R. bike is beautiful ...I did tell your mom when my wife and I seen her, so that kinda counts...👍 beautiful bike...
Flip must be real busy trying to find that blinker fluid. :)
I just enjoy having good friends around and he motivates me to capture these moments for you guys!
@@weemsmotorco Nothing better than friends :)
Digging the Righteous Wretch shirt. Makes me think there's gotta be a bike shop called Righteous Wrench out there somewhere! Keep up the great work brother (and Flip!)
Beautiful engraved covers!
CAnt wait to see what it does at bornfree!
I've been waiting for more hollywood run videos
Showtime. Grande construção parabéns,isto é choppers Rule.
Beautiful bike
We agree!
Flip is your Vanna White.😅
Flip is prettier than me...I agree!
Good 1 Flip
Better lay in a good supply of icey pops for your next project 😁
Looking good!
Hooah
You gonna be at Born Free?
@@weemsmotorco
Probably not
And that's why I re tap and re die everything to standard American equivalent SAE . it's a lot of work .but you don't have to hunt down witworth or wassell
I've got the wrenches, but is it Whitworth or Wentworth? Maybe I'll see you on the road, Riding the Roadmaster from Tampa-Grand Canyon-Sturgis- Minn.-Mich.- Maggie Valley-Tampa with 2 brothers and I'm the young one!
Definitely Whitworth. Some call it British Standard...tomatoes tomatoes!
@@weemsmotorco thanks
I would love to check that bike out in person and I live next town south of you weems. When and where is the show?
We were at the Plant City The Great American Chopper Show. Follow us on Instagram to see where we will be next!
I’m sorry what did you do to that bike? I was distracted by Flip eating and drinking the whole time. 🤣😂. Nah seriously man, that bike is on fire!! 🔥🔥🔥 And apparently was the Florida weather given the amount of ice pops y’all destroyed. Love the custom covers. They are perfection.
Looking good. I recently bought my first set of Whiworth wrenches to work on my new 64 TR6. Why did you put the carb out on the side like that (with the elbow bend) rather than how it would normally sit?
...I can answer your question in one word... performance... a longer intake works virtually the same as a high rise intake on a race engine...it gives the fuel more opportunity to atomize(break down to a mist) rather than enter the combustion chamber as a solid liquid...mist equals greater performance... because it burns better...the elbow is simply for room...the vacuum effect created by the pistons pulls the fuel into the head so the elbow is fine... hope this helps...64, sweet... I once had a 64 Norton SS...hella fast bike...
Steven nailed it minus one other point...It looks cool! LoL...this is a rare find and the very last Clay Cobb intake built specifically for this bike as a gift from Clay himself!
@@weemsmotorco I have an intake extension built by S&S (from the early 70's)that measures 3 inches it puts my carb straight out to the side I also have a brass screen called the atomizer system ll ..it like the extension are no longer available...These 2 old performance enhancers are installed on my 73 91" Shovelhead...the extension available today comes from Yost the longest I have found is 2 inches.. I bought one to put on my 99 96" Evo Heritage Classic...it does make a noticeable difference in starting and performance...however the screen atomizer I haven't found one yet so I'm going to try the Yost power tube...yessir I'm into performance builds with mouse motors....I like carbs for simplicity... injection is great and all but... I'm not interested in shit I have to program..dial it in by ear test by the seat of your pants...I have a 73 Shovelhead that's made one of my buds down shift from 5th to 3rd to pull away from me in 4th only to have me run him right back down never leaving 4th gear... frustrated the hell out of him...his ride...02 V rod... injection upgrades and performance exhaust didn't help him...mouse power prevailed...
Real nice Chop and vid. Love the spark plug caps! Where did you get them? I'm in UK. Cheers guys.
TC Bros
I need to get my hands on an old triumph, my boyfriend said he'd help my build a motorcycle lol so I have literally no reason not to lol
Do It! If I can help in any way let me know!
You want a '72 Bonneville? There's one out here in New Hampshire. Red.
Would you mind telling me what size headlights you used? I've been looking at doing a dual headlight setup for my bike, and this is perfect. Amazing work of art by the way.
They are 4" harley fog lights
How many miles do you get outta that tank?
Not sure yet...maybe that video will come soon!
Come on Jared, you gotta rat rod your new Triumph... At least for a little while. Then you can polish & paint it after you ride some of the rust off! 🤣
ooof. I feel ya but I have The Rainmaker as my Rat Rod!
Thx
Any time!
Hey Weems, would my 54 BSA Road rocket require Wentworth tools to do any work as well?
yes
absolutely!
@@weemsmotorco great! What a pain in the ass! Oh well it's totally worth the headache in the end, thank you brother, and cannot wait to see what you're going to do with that other pre-unit Triumph of yours you picked up!
What do those pegs mount to? It looks like they curl back up above the frame?? And mount to what?
The left mount to the Primary and the right mounts to the transmission mount. Both are secured together with a large bolt from one side of the bike to the other.
What year did the triumph Bonneville come out with a distributor
The Bonneville never had a distributor. However the 6T Thunderbird came with a distributor beginning in 1960 through 1962.
I had one back in 1978 I was 17 Year old I could turn the distributor and it made a harder Hit then a Harley Davidson
@@weemsmotorco I had one back in 1978 I was 17 Year old I could turn the distributor and it made a harder Hit then a Harley Davidson I'm 60 year old now and I wish I could get it or one with a distributor
I'm going to look at one in a few minutes. It's a chopper 70s build
hey FlipNa was it Bubblegum Flavour?
Oh this gives me an idea! Blind taste test ICEE Pops and guess the flavor!
Just picked up a 70 triumph basket for 500
Killer Deal!!!
Love the bike flip not so much he's worthless
Flip is an amazing friend and keeps me focused and on task!
Beautiful bike! Hope I can get my BSA A10 chopper up to this standard one day.
You can do it!!!!
Hey man, this bike is awesome, I liked the 1st one that you guy gave away already, I was so jealous of that winner. I have been entering for the Road King Kong as well but also I came across one that popped up on my facebook. I'm not a friend collector, I don't really understand how all this works, I don't even have a cell phone ( I did figure out how to get Instagram on this old PC I built though, You are the 3rd person I have followed now LOL. Yeah though. OCC choppers dream chopper giveaway. I am at the top of teh game on it, I am looking for votes everywhere cause I just know I will need them. I won the big round i'm in the top 15 now and I am first in that. next week it goes to to the top ten if I can stay in that one. well I might get to go build a bike with Paul SR. Shadetree voted for me already. :0) you can do it everyday though, 1 free vote a day. Paul Sr's charity is Hudson SPCA No Kill shelter. so it is possible to spend dough to vote but the free link is there as well.
Help me out man? My Name on the thing is MIKE DEAN - I am the guy at the top left wanting to stay there> I dropped to second twice last week and recovered and have not dropped since.
this is all the people left in the contest. I'm the guy with the Log - I made that pic and it;s doing well. ya have to be on facebook to vote. I had to have Instagram to follow paul.

This is so awesome of you guys! I,m still in the top 15 in 1st for my group!
If I can keep this position I am going to top ten! Thanks a million. I will go see if I can remember how to get into that Instagram thing and add you on that also.
Flip is to Weem’s channel what Hoovie is to the Car Wizards channel! A complete and utter nuisance 😂😂😂
No way, flip is a blast to hang with!
gas tank : 2 liters of gas.... 🙈🙈🙈
1 Gallon!
@@weemsmotorco riding from gas station to gas station..
That bike is beautiful except for that ugly gas tank. It should have an original 1960s Triumph tank.
Then it wouldn't be a copy of the one from the David Mann painting....
@@Heavi001 I get that, It was ugly on the original.
I feel ya Bill! Factory tanks on bobbers, I feel, are the best look! But as it is a replica I had to stick with the blueprint!
@@weemsmotorco My commentary really was focused on the original artwork rather than your replica. Either way it's a really beautiful bike. My first bike in 1972 was a 1967 tiger 650 so I've got a soft spot for old Triumphs.
Is that tank off a moped? Sure looks like it.
Be nice to here the bike’s and. LESS OF THE GUITARS
We will try better next time!!!
Sorry, I will try better next time.
flip is painfully rude.. fame one to his head lol ditched josh because he thinks he all that lol shame on flip..
Nope, you are mistaken my friend. He is the most humble TH-camr I know. He has helped me so much get my channel going! The whole Brap Star crew are great people just learning to make our way in this social media driven world. Every person in this world is an influencer, some just have a larger stage and I pray that those who watch me are influenced by positivity and vulnerability. Dont watch me to see FlipNA, dont watch FlipNA to see Shadetree, Dont watch Shadetree to see CHEY, and so on. Watch the channels you enjoy for the people you enjoy.
Flip ruined this video
No Way Flip made this video!
sacrilege yanks and choppers ridiculous each to their own I suppose
I get it. However, this bike was already chopped up and we just decided to make it a super clean chopper.
