    I am writing Matric in June as an adult at 45 years old.. I have only from today to get all of this into my head. That is around 3 months only to get 6 subjects including Science and Maths into my head. :|

    Why are we using delta x when calculating displacement while it's a vertical motion?

    hey thanks so much i think i have a better understanding now ,but for the second question ,im noticing u used the time u got from the previous question and at school we are told not to use answers we got from previous questions because what if we are wrong ,so i would like to know how would i then determine the maximum height

      Yes you can do that but they do not mind in the exams... Some learners use x and some use y :)

    How is the final velocity different from the initial velocity hence textbooks state that when an object is thrown upward the final and initial velocity are the same?

    Hi Kevin!💙 I have a question. In Question A)
    I understand everything but what I don't get is that in the formula vf=vi + a × delta t
    *For Delta t, you didn't say t final - t initial, and then after that work your way through...
    So when we see "delta t" we don't need to expand it like that ?

      Yes technically we should expand but usually t initial is 0. So that is why I do not expand it.

    Can't you just divide the 50 m.s‐¹ by 9.8m.s‐² to get 5.1s

      Yes but that ONLY works if initial velocity is 0.
      vf = vi + at so if vi = 0, then we have vf = at and so t = vf/a :)

      Oh yes but we do not need to worry to much about that. Sometimes textbooks, or even teachers switch this around. You can use delta y if you want though, it is technically MORE correct :)
