Variation: Oklahoma Gin: This is a variant where the first face-up card determines the maximum Deadwood for knocking. For example, a five of hearts means that a player can only knock with five points or fewer. If the first card up is a spade, points are doubled that round.

loved it!
Do i give the dice to the other player if i hit my point or is it just if i hit a 7?
Okay maybe I only have play caribian street dominos. This was not the way we played
So grateful I found you and Benjamin! I recently discovered SCOPA and I'm gathering people together in our town to play! It's so fun and your videos are the best teaching I've found. Grazie mille!
Hi Chris, do you know this type of game? a player plays a card, then other players have to follow suit. If the player cannot play because he does not have that suit, the player must pick cards from the stock pile and keep picking until he finds that suit. The biggest card wins and the turn goes to the winner. The first player who run out of cards wins. In my country this game is called "picking", and it is mainly played by children. Adults mostly don't play this game because it is considered too simple and only for kids. Do you know the name of this game?
The closest popular game I can think of would be crazy 8's.
@Play-In-Games wow, thanks for the reply sir. I am thinking the same, just we don't use any card as wilds. Nah, this game was very basic, the last time I played it was like 22 years ago 😂😂😂 in school dormitory, we played many games such as bluff. The most hilarious game ever 😂😂😂
I played this game a lot. I like it because the hands are small and it can be played by 2 players. And also it requires more skills than luck. Almost all hands are winnable, so it could be intense sometimes 😁 can it be played using Italian card decks too?
Agreed! I suppose you could play a version of it with Italian cards. You'd probably want to deal less cards, maybe 8? I think it might go too fast to get the same strategy as the 52 card version, but there's only one way to find out...
First time player/players this is THE best tutorial i have found yet!
Oh my god i finally get it, thank you!
Hi, I am from Venezuela and I only knew about American/french style and of course Spanish one. But trying to buy the most beautiful Spanish cards I could find, I found the Italian ones. I was surprised because I didn't know anything about those. Now I love Italian over french and regular Spanish. At this moment, Napolitan and Sicilian are my preferred and special mention to Sarde, which are Spanish but more beautiful (my goal). Thank you for your videos.
@@baltazardiaz9423 thanks for the comment. The Spanish influenced Italian decks are my favorite too.
This is by far the best video describing how to play Exploding Kittens. To play this game you must understand the action cards and when you must either draw or not draw a card to end your turn. I must have watched at least 10 others. Many are just guys showing off, acting silly and soon it becomes obvious they either don't know how to play the game or they are just poor teachers. This one by Play-In Games got it right!
@@bobzukowski much appreciated, I try to only do videos on games I’ve played and get. A terrible way to get views, but I want these to be good enough to last. Thanks and glad it helped!
Nice. As a British person and a big fan of shows like the Wire, I always wondered what game the gang bangers were playing and it actually looks fun and dare I say, somewhat good for practicing maths for my kids 🎲
Happy to help share the knowledge. Keep an eye on those kids if they get too good at the game!
Great instructions thanks. 👍
Am I only able to play one Non-Unicorn card into my stable? How big is my stable exactly?
Good question. The stable has no limit for upgrade, downgrade or unicorn cards unless a played card says otherwise.
😂
Man congratulations. I hope one day I can do it too.
It was definitely satisfying. Good luck!
I just got a deck of hanafuda cards and played your solitaire game with them, it was so fun! But unfortunately I have friends and would like to play hanafuda with them maybe you could do a video explaining how to play 88 or koi-koi so I can better understand the games. Ive been having a hard time translating the rules for some of these games so it would be nice to see someone cover it.
Congratulations, the hanafuda deck is a great one to own. I would like to cover koi koi but I don’t like to make videos for games I haven’t played very much. I’ve only played online so I’m hoping to find some native Japanese friends to show me the actual way they know it. Thanks for the great comment!
Best fast and easy instruction out there
Thanks!
Hi Chris! I’m glad I found this channel! Very interesting and fun! - Carol Borrelli
Much appreciated!
This is one of the best two player card Games out there, and probably the best with a standard deck IMO. My wife and I play this when we go to a winery or brewery on a date. Simple but strategic. There is a nice press your luck feel when deciding to knock. Perfect game for this channel! I actually believe that 10 points for under cutting and 20 points for Gin is the standard scoring, but there are lots of variants. Pagat is a good website for card game rules. Basically like Hoyle was for the printed version.
Thank you, I fully agree, one of the best two player games with a standard deck. The scores are the ones I grew up with and Pagat can never take that away from me! That said, play with what you and your partner like, the two Gin players and their rules are the ones that matter.
Flawless tutorial. This is one of the best two player games out there and I've taught it to several friends and shipmates. One fun variant is Oklahoma Gin. In this version, the knocking point for each round is determined by the initial upcard. So, for example, when you turn over the first card and it's a 5, you need to have five points or less to knock. If it's an 8, you need 8 points or less. And so on. In addition, if the initial upcard is a spade, points count double for that round. This game has an old tradition in my family. My great-grandfather would play this wtih my uncle when my uncle was a little boy. I never met my great-grandfather, but when I play gin rummy with my uncle, we make sure to play by the rules my great-grandfather taught him. Plus, it seems to unlock a whole bunch of memories for my uncle, and I've heard several stories about my great-grandfather I never would have known otherwise. It's beautiful to know that we are keeping his memory alive through a game.
Thanks so much. Also thanks for mentioning Oklahoma, I filmed a similar explanation for the variant, but I felt obligated to keep the video under 5 minutes and it got cut. It’s a great way to keep the game a bit more exciting. I’ll add it to the description in a bit. Thanks again!
I played this with my mom all the time. Been teaching my kids now, wish she could play. Great video 👍
Thanks!
Love this quick and detailed card game videos. Perfect for when I'm trying to teach games to my friends but forget a rule or two.... lol
Thanks, my hope is to someday be the Brian Wilson of table top gaming (pre mental breakdown 😂)
You're an orange
Great video from Sydney, Australia!
🙏 thanks!
cool channel thanks! we played the original last night and just bought the 20 year jubilee edition - FYI no one has reviewed this yet!
You can play this the dumb way, and have everybody think you're a saboteur. Troll level unlocked!
great video
Thanks!
You explained that perfect. Now my memory is refreshed. I got it👏🏾
@@WillieInnocent thanks!
Thanks for a great tutorial
You’re welcome!
Does the banker set the pot ?
Short answer yes. Longer answer: it’s a street game so other players can call for a different start pot and/or multiply off the previous. Make sure you establish rules on this before play or it can get out of hand imo.
Thank you! Perfect explanation for my young family.
"It was a different time entirely..." 😂
😯
Not a patch on Axis & Allies.
Great help. You made it very easy to understand.
Who all here trying to get through gambler 9 in RDR2 ?
Hi, thank you for the information! I was so lost trying to figure out how to play and I’m so happy you could explain!
I dont know if this is a family tradition or regional variant but i'm from veneto and during the scoring part we usually add a point if you score the "Re Bello" or the king of denari (coins) Nice vid!
I’ve heard that the Re Bello is an important card in the north, maybe it’s a carry over from older games? Let me know if you find out more. Thanks for watching!
Hi! Love this video!! What is the name of the deck you have at 9:42 ?
Thank you! That’s the famous Marseille deck, very much still and print and heavy use, especially in Europe.
Thought I was gunna watch an advanced video but this is okay too
Thanks, as mentioned check out the longer video linked at the end for strategies, spoiler, take Africa first and pretend to be an expansionist to divert others from Africa while building your power. Also keep your head down and avoid being targeted until opponents thin themselves!
Hello, Great Explanation!!! Where can I find the Tressette for 4 players i.e for 2 teams. Please do let me know.
Thank you! I hope to get around to making that video, but the basics are two teams of two sit opposite and all 40 cards are dealt out. Same rules apply, there are other ins and outs but it will play fine just as is imo.
The most fun modern usage of the tarot deck that I know of is a game called His Majesty the Worm. It's a full tabletop RPG that use the tarot deck instead of dice.
I just checked it out, what a novel idea! Do you know the developer?
@Play-In-Games no, I just like to look for ttrpg with unique systems, presentations and/or settings.
Your nana was Clara? She was a legend.
Absolutely, she was legendary in our family way before the TH-cam show. She’s still very much alive in our family stories and wisdom. I’m glad to have captured a glimpse of her for everyone else.
Never won a game of Risk. Not once. Great video, though!
You’re a lucky one, got out early! Thanks!
Thanks for this. My great grandmother played Mahjong and I'm finally getting started myself. It's a very deep and intricate game but this covers all the most important points to get started. Great job as always.
Thanks for saying that. I know how special this game is and I hoped to give it the shine it deserves. The best games are the ones we carry the legacy of. Keep it alive!
Bruh finessed bro smh
After Memoir 44 it’s hard to get anything else to the table. Great video though!
I haven’t tried it yet. What do you like about it?
@ with expansions it really picks up but you pretty much do all maneuvers with cards. It can be a slog without the house rule of taking a turn to draw new cards since maybe all your forces are on the left side and all your cards are for the middle or right side. It actually does feel like a tactics game to me
