    YOU HAVE NOOOOO IDEA HOW HELPFUL THIS IS OMFG. Every damn soft summer example is a white girl with blue eyes and im sick of it! Thanks so much for making the colour analysis conversation more inclusive!

      Yayyy I'm so glad you found this video! So many darker haired, darker skinned people I know look their best in softer and cooler colors like these :)

  • @saralbruno

    We need more videos like this! Dark haired dark eyed girls always get lumped into dark winter or the Autumn category and there is just more nuance than that

    • @thealignedlover
      @thealignedlover  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes we do and looking forward to more exploration 🥰

      But you can analyze it yourself? I did and concluded that I’m soft summer, most of my wardrobe is soft summer already anyway

    Love this. I wish you can do the same for bright winter. People assume because brown people have dark eyes that they are automatically dark winter and not clear winter. And the only ones they say are clear are caucasians with blues eyes or other colors, or really dark people like Lupita. There's no range for us.

    • @thealignedlover
      @thealignedlover  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes, definitely will do videos on the winter subcategories! If you haven't seen my video on Kelly Rowland, I discuss a bit of her season which might help a bit!

    • @evessentially.design
      @evessentially.design 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Same here! I’m (East) Asian and I feel that this system just automatically categorises us as either dark winter/autumn, just because we have dark eyes and hair but relatively lighter skin.. but somehow when I get dressed I feel that high contrast/“dark” looks overpower me so much personally, even though that’s what’s recommended by the system :/

    Thank you for doing this video. Most color analysis group women of color (especially those of us with darker hues) into fall or winter, as if we can't be anything else. I suggest using a different baseline. When doing so, I find that bright spring suits me best.

    • @thealignedlover
      @thealignedlover  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I totally agree! Different baseline different nuances :) hope you like my bright spring video coming in the future 🥰

    Thank you for the POC representation! Having dark hair and dark eyes, I automatically get typed as a winter or autumn, but I find that those colors don't resonate with me. Watching your video helped me feel more confident in the summer category 💗

    I know this video isn’t aimed at me, Caucasian, but I still like to listen out of interest and it is helpful. Dark hair, quite striking eyes and pale skin, told I was Winter. The colours didn’t sit right on me. Realised I’m a summer. Hearing that grey doesn’t always suit if you’re NOT a soft summer is very helpful as I’m negotiating just how soft I might be. Very useful tip. Colour analysis is more inclusive nowadays, there are some good analysts who have draped all different skintone as summers, springs, brights. I love to see how similar palettes suit different skintones. It’s quite amazing. Love your channel.

    Thank you so much for making this video, it's something I've been search for a while! For the longest time I thought that I was a dark winter, because I have dark eyes, dark eyebrows and medium dark hair. But I also always felt that these strong, saturated winter colors still wouldn't quite fit me. However, I am not a person of color (or maybe I am, but there are areas in the world that don't easily fall into this western White vs POC dichotomy). I am from the Balkan-mediterranean country, and while I do have olive skin, it's very, VERY pale and grey, with zero brown/bronze/warm tint in it (which is how normally olive skin is presented for some reason). So what happens is that in winter, I am radiantly pale - so pale that people sometimes ask me if I am sick or if I feel ok (no matter how much I always try to reduce the paleness with makeup). But then in summer, I tan a lot, and the difference between my winter and summer skin is extreme. So in terms of clothing colors, I look good in dark winter colors (including pitch white and black), but in terms of make up (especially lipstick and blush), I look terrible with dark winter colors (like deep red, plum or purple) lipsticks, and fantastic in soft summer shades (soft and cold baby/rosy and mulberry pinks with blue undertones and pink-reds).

    What an amazing color analysis breakdown! You’re just the best at seeing the nuances. I can’t wait for you to do Dark Winter.
    I have a question about your theatrical romantic video. I have a TR body but I don’t have the TR seductress face at all! I’m 41 and I still don’t have any angles on my face. I have full cheeks, high forehead, big round eyes, straightish brows, a natural nose, full lips. My head is too big for my body and my face doesn’t have the delicate features of a romantic. Seems more like a mix of ingenue and natural.
    What happens when your face and body doesn’t match? Any advice? Thank you very much.

    I think is this me! I had landed on this conclusion but had my doubts. The most information I found for dark hair, dark eyed soft summers was Uireh Color. For some reason I always felt similar to Liza Soberano and Zoe Saldana even though I don't necessarily look like them. This might be why! Your videos are always so lovely, thank you for putting in the effort to make them. It's greatly appreciated. 💌

    Thank you so much im a dude im using this to shop smarter, but my skin tone is almost identical to the first girls. I thought I was a deep autumn but what made me reconsider is my grey cast and my top lip is a cool purple (im bengali) but by hottom lip is pink. Its weird but thats a cool tone feature about me. When I take videos in white light I have a greyish feeling about me. I tan easily and when I tan it turns into this grey casted brown. Idk if neutral olive is even a valid term but thats where I lean I think

    can you do an analysis of chrishell stause? i've been a lil obsessed with color analysis lately and keep trying to figure out the palettes of the selling sunset cast as im watching it LOL but I find chrishell to be one of the hardest to figure out because she seems to be really warm toned but looks great in bright winter AND autumn colors....also it's kind of hard to tell because of the show's lighting, makeup, and tans.

    Dear alignedlover, thank you for giving examples of women of colour. Very often, soft summer is only associated with white women with blonde hair. I´m typed as a soft summer and I have light brown hair and a light olive skin tone. However, I do like some of the saturated colors on myself and on the examples you gave us in this video. I didn't felt they were overpowering. I guess this is a matter of taste?

    • @thealignedlover

    Hi, I’m not sure if I’m a soft or light summer as I have light natural ashy blonde hair, muted blue eyes that have a Olive mix to them and a medium to light cool Olive skin tone. I feel I look good in muted lighter colours that contrast with my skin and match the lightness of my hair. I struggle with dusty rose colours as I feel that they are too close to my skin value but look great in all dusty blue/lavender colours. I’m a Theatrical Romantic body type but feel I have some ethereal essence due to my colouring.

    I tend to see Soft and summer folks as not needing such intense level of color to show up to other people.
    As bright/clear winter, it is so easy for me to hide; I just need to add gray color anywhere, and I no longer show up.
    That's always impressive to me.

    I think I'm a soft summer, because Winter just doesn't suit me. It's too overwhelming for me, because my features aren't strong. My eyebrows, my lashes are barely noticeable. My hair, eyecolor and skintone is dark but the difference isn't strong enough. So I'm definitely not clear or deep. Since warm colors make me look sick because they enhance the yellow and green undertones of my skin only cool colors make me look healthy. So there is just soft summer left.
    Edit: After watching this video I realized that I am not a Soft Summer but maybe a Light Summer, because dark colors don't suit me.
