This is my favorite Herb sketch. Possibly favorite Hader sketch. "They burned my friend" is the best and most underrated line delivered

Why isn’t SNL like this anymore? They have talented people. The writing sucks. It sucks so bad. I don’t even laugh anymore, yet I scream laugh at this sketch. Sad.

Yes, Hader is great, as usual. And so is Timberlake who has never disappointed here. But I think people forget Sudekis. He is a true professional and his reactions are just a right mix of subtle sarcasm and confusion.
Everyone in a Herb Welch skit were always on their A-game. The writing brought out the best in everyone.
I would add that acting as a "stooge" is one of the most difficult things to do

He's always been underrated
I love the continuing story of how everyone in the public is super understanding of Herb despite him constantly hitting them with microphones.
Justin Timberlake had always been a terrific guest.
“Like it or not, the folk scene is here to stay” just amazing.

I literally fell to the floor in laughter and pulled a fkn muscle when he took the mic and Herb pulled another one out without a beat.
Not to take anything away from the actors in the sketch because they’re all perfect. But whoever writes these is brilliant. All of Herb’s random questions and his, “Back to you, Jack” outros are amazing.
Tbf the main actor in the sketch is usually very involved in the writing, so Bill Hader probably had a lot of influence on this.

For timeline reasons: this is ten years after Herb Welch investigated the shots fired outside the apartment building

I was watching or listening to an interview with Bill and he said there were a lot of people who hate the Herb sketches, that makes no sense to me, they’re absolutely hilarious
