Awww the port crew waving goodbye is such a sweet thing. I really would love to travel to Japan sometime in my lifetime, so thank you for sharing your experiences so we know what to look forward to when we finally can go!
Its a once in a lifetime experience, even though i visited 3 times, dont hesitate its well worth it, i fell in love with Japan the first time i went as a child with my parents.
it's really something to behold, also if you are in japan's airports take a look at the tarmac, when the planes are pushed back the ground crew similarly will stand together and bow + wave at the plane as it reverses out of its parking spot!
Most times, the simplest gesture can bring the greatest joy: the port staff waving off the ship - cannot put a price on that. Love your videos, thank you x
At first I thought it was pollution, but then I realized they were all onsens and I got a vision of an entire city full of people enjoying cozy hot baths
I actually really like the feel of this ferry. The room might be small and very basic, there might not be a lot of food options available, and it might be a little bit loud at night, but I love how the ferry itself looks. You can see that's it's older, yet it still looks great. In a way it looks more rustic I suppose. All the other ferries had its charm too, but I think this one might be my personal favorite. I'm sad it might be gone in two years.
I love your videos. They are so informative and relaxing and I love the way your personality and sense of humor come through in the videos. You are a wonderful ambassador for Japan!
@@newbatgirl I would also watch a video of 60 min ;-) but for a relaxing and coming down time at the evening these 10-20 min are the right thing, aren't they? :-)
I really enjoy these ferry videos, the trips all seem so interesting and fun. Definitely the Kagoshima route one, that ship looked more like a cruise. Was pretty surprised in this video when your room key was an ACTUAL key.
In future videos maybe you can use accommodations for two people. I would love to see what "double" ferry and train cabins look like as well as cost. The shipping enthusiast in me wants to go over there and fix the name letters on the starboard bow so they are all lined up. That said, for an old girl she is in remarkable condition - I've seen ferries one or two years old that are terrible.
I travelled from Osaka to Beppu on this ship in 2019! Great memories. My double cabin was almost the same as your single room, except it had bunk beds.

I never knew about Beppu before, just seen videos about Tokyo and the surrounding area but I loved that view of Beppu and the city lights and the Onsen steam rising in the background.. The bridge reminded me of the Bay bridge in San Francisco, but also the time my husband and I went under the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco on a Princess Cruise ship for a seven day cruise to Alaska! I hope you were able to get some sleep, luckily the cruise ship we were on, was quiet through the night 😉😁… Thank you for sharing your adventure. 😁
You know what would be kind of cool. Seeing a live feed of the ship’s radar on the in room television and/or on the television screens scattered around the relaxing areas.
Ive watched a few other Japan travel channels with the same 1st pov format but yours is the best, the choice of scene, subtitle clarity, time input, pacing (basically everything) allow a very natural and realistic 1st person perspective experience. I just love your videos. I really like how you show everything on board, the room, the restaurants, cafes, vending machines and other things the ferry has to offer. It makes me feel like I’m actually onboard myself 😂
What an incredibly sweet thing to wave goodbye to a ship leaving the port as part of a traditional ceremony. And with light sticks so they can be seen too! Wow! Such a beautiful culture! They do this in Ryokans too (traditional Inns) where the staff runs after your car waving and crying sad to see you go. So sweet and moving and makes you feel special. Always that human connection, and being considerate.
I was hoping we'd get to go with you to the ferry, when you left Hell in the last video. I usually like older buildings and other things, but I think I prefer the newer ferries to this older one. The staff waving goodbye was a nice touch. I watched this video in the evening. When you said you were going to sleep early, I found myself saying "I think I will also". It really does feel like we are right there with you.
These videos are really cool. So relaxing to watch. Also seeing an older ferry is very cool! It is fun to see both old and new ships. And I like how you are always so positive in your comments :)
When the port staff came out with lightsavers I smiled so much. It seemed very beautiful and friendly. I liked that you waved back too and I'm sure they must have seen you do it. The curry looked so mild and flavourful too. :)
Thanks for your recent videos about ferries. I never knew there were so many travelling around Japan. I will try this on my next trip as an interesting alternative to the train.
Haha I just noticed a 'ca-chiin' sound whenever there are some expenses, nice touch. xD Overall, enjoyable travel video. I know the channel is mainly supposed to show the means of transport in Japan, which is a great idea (and so far they are impeccably clean and organized, better than the taking a car), but I also agree with another commenter - visiting the spots is just as interesting. There are lots of channels for that, but I think I like the peace and quiet of these videos more! :D

First of all, I think the ship is amazing. Everything looks well organized and clean as usual. Always love how the Japanese keep the standard high, no matter the ships are new or old. Also, if even you the native sometime got confused with the vending machine, how about us foreigners then? xD I love the inner sea route, since you have great views from both sides of the ship looking towards the islands.

The seats on the Shinkansen are very comfortable. You will see small towns and rice paddies whisk by in the window as you drink a beer. The JR rail pass makes it very affordable.
Yes, you're right. The Kagoshima route was more interesting because of the vessel. I will look forward to seeing your video of the new vessel replacing the MV Cobalt in 2 years time. Beppu port looks very nice.^^

The seats on the Shinkansen are very comfortable. You will see small towns and rice paddies whisk by in the window as you drink a beer. The JR rail pass makes it very affordable.
Another great video, keep them coming.
really like your videos Iam in las Vegas Nevada long way from the ocean use to live in los angeles near the ocean
Loved the view of going under the famous bridge Very well video taped.
First!!! And love all your travel contents!! It's like we're actually going with you! 😊
Yes, you're right. The Kagoshima route was more interesting because of the vessel. I will look forward to seeing your video of the new vessel replacing the MV Cobalt in 2 years time. Beppu port looks very nice.^^
8:15-8:20 Wow that port-staffer on the right was really going all out! Love that!
Thank you for these videos! Not being able to travel is a nightmare so having to live vicariously though your amazing content! Thank you
I think Beppu is lovely but the Kagushima ferry was AWESOME!! NOW I must see BOTH!
Another enjoyable trip. Loved the coffee machine I think there must have been someone in there ,🤣🤣🤣🤣
None of this or your video of Jigoku is hell.. looks absolutely gorgeous and heavenly.. Brit here hoping to visit your beautiful country one day ❤️
You can take a bus tour visiting various jigoku from Beppu station. The tour is called jigoku-meguri 地獄めぐり in Japanese.
❤️ from Beppu
your channel is my favorite! i love waking up to a new video with coffee and having a relaxing journey through the sea 😊 thank you for uploading these!!
The older ferry has a certain charm, but I would probably prefer traveling on the newer ferry. Thanks for the wonderful video 💙💙💙
That one lady with one saber was super energetic when she was waving it, she's my favorite. Also good to know those machines can confuse anyone, native speaker or otherwise. I'd feel less bad about messing it up now, lol. The bridge was super cool too!
The room may be small, but it looks clean and comfortable enough.
I definitely would try this ferry if I got the chance to.
think this is the only time ive ever left a comment, love the vids!
I really love your videos, they're so relaxing! I totally have to take a ferry next time I go to Japan. They look amazing and really interesting to enjoy! Thanks for sharing!
Your videos are entertaining and your jokes are funny
Enjoying your vlogs thank you! Always so interesting with the ferry trips, trains and food reviews. We hope one day to visit Japan, also the information you present is really helpful.👏(itadakimasu)?
When I saw the ferry staff waving to the passengers with the lightsavers, oddly, I felt quite sad. I suppose it reminded me of all the goodbyes I had experienced throughout my life.
Thank you for this video!
I went back to watch your previous videos too :)
Your video inspires me to take overnight ferry when I go to Japan next time. Thank you and keep up a nice video!
