Just moved to Phuket, been watching this video every day to practice my counting. Comes in handy when buying things from vendors and especially in taxis (learning the hundreds).
I must admit that I watched this video many times in preparation for the class we had! It is very easy to learn to count with it and I really recommend it!
Thank you so much for all your videos. I can't find a Thai person to practice my pronunciation with and I hate learning languages from books. It's much easier to learn the basics of the language with a native speaker and then turn to books for grammar and such once one can actually pronounce things as accurately as possible.
Am I here because in SOTUS the series, the students are called by their student ID numbers and I wanted to know how to say their numbers in Thai? Yes I am ❤️
oh i feel youuu. I saw SOTUS awhile ago but I’m here becuase I’ve seen so many thai dramas at this point i’m starting to learn the language just because of the shows 😂😂
I believe some chinese dialect speakers especially Hakka can memorize Thai numbering easily. In Hakka, number 3, 4, 7, 8, 10 are exactly the same with pronunciation in Thai. 😊
What about 6? Because in Vietnamese, they have a poetry called 6-8 poetry which is lục bát almost same as this as likely originally from the same origin either Hakka or Cantonese.
Wow, this is so helpful. I've been living in Thailand 5 years and just now learned how to count properly 😅 Thank you for bringing such easy and happy energy to your videos, you make me smile while learning and I'll definitely keep watching your content 🙏💗✨
Thank you so much for creating this counting video. It is extremely clear, concise and easy to understand without going unnecessarily too long. I reference it often while I’m in Thailand if I forget a certain number sequence. 🙏🙂
I am learning Thai from my brother, who I am now living with in Amnat Chaeron. Still trying to get to 100. Lol Thailand is my new home and it is magical!
By any chance do you have, or know anyone who teaches Thai in Ireland?. I am learning from all your videos, but I would love someone with me who could listen and ensure I am pronouncing everything correctly with the correct pitch.
Sadly I know no one who are in Ireland. There were 2 Irish teachers who worked with me in Bangkok but one of them moved to teach English in the middle east and another one just tied the knot here and kinda lives & works here permanently.... These are only 2 Irish that I know :)
There is one source mentioned that 'ed' was a change sound from a Chinese word for 1. Chinese people have migrated to Thailand for a very long long time and have influenced many Thai words.
Watching several times and taking notes.. Anyone else find 7 (Jed) hard to pronounce... Is it like "yed" ? :( Also I'm curious as to why Nueng goes to Ed, no other number changes in the same way.

how about read the year? its seem like different type and read
When reading the year, commonly and informally we just say the digits individually i.e. 2556 = song haa haa hok / 1987 = nueng kao pbad jed
how about the number 0 ?
0 = ศูนย์ /soon/ - (say it in rising tone)
Do you have school here in Si Racha, Chonburi
Sorry, I don't have an offline school at the moment

When I want to say 101, I say nueng roi ed , is this correct? Tcheal ❤️
Correct!
Teacher In the case of the year 2023 it would be like this: สองพันยี่สิบสาม sorng pun yie-sib sarm ?🤔
Right, anyway, for saying a year under 2000, we usually say each digit i.e. 1987 = หนึ่ง เก้า แปด เจ็ด
@@letslearnthai Oh thanks teacher , I got it🙇✨
Hello please I need the class 13

So is 200 yie-roi or sorng-roi?
Sorng roi !

It's สองร้อย !

Many thanks, but why not Sib Nueng? An exception, Use Ed instead.
There is one source mentioned that 'ed' was a change sound from a Chinese word for 1. Chinese people have migrated to Thailand for a very long long time and have influenced many Thai words.
Fun fact: 18( Sib- pad) = Six pads :3
How to say 150 bhat 250 bhat in currency
sawadee krub, I'm wondering how do you say "0" in thai? and how about 101?
0 is "suun"... mahaba and pag-pronounce
101 is "nueng roi nueng"
SAM SUMMERS thank you!❤️
@@lanceperez6310 mai pen rai krub. sawasdee.
0=suun
101=nueng roi ad
201= song roi ad
301= saam roi ad etc. same like 11=sib ad when 1 is at the end of the number
@@spnovel3985 in this case it is not nueng roi ed for 101
its nueng roi nueng
Sorng roi nueng - 201
Sarm roi nueng - 301...... etc...
Teacher is sib pronounced as sip?
sib is correct one
Why is this so similar to Cantonese? I’m shocked!
How do you say yes or no
yes = chai
no = mai

...lol.... nope and 'yed' is sexual slang in Thai.
Another ...lol.... I was curious about 1 goes to 'ed' as well when I was a kid :)

200 = yie roi ?
200 = sorng roi
Yie only applies with 20

It sounds like some Chinese dialect (e.g. Hokkien)
Chinese Hokkian or Teowchew must hv influence a lot of pronunciation of numbers in Thai.

How to say 101 in ascending order? Or 1001? Sorry you jump too far 😅
101 = nùeng rói èd
1,001 = nùeng pan èd
