Still a surprise with this musical introduction, very good idea, Paul, for this presentation! But my hight curiosity push me to jump directly to the Easter Toccata: what rendition Paul have used ? YES, this is the Jesuitenkirche Heidelberg version with the magnificent Kuhn-organ: ouahhh!! One of Paul's best pieces without a doubt. What wonderfull, what powerfull on the theme of resurrection. What video engagement from Paul into this rendition, pulling up a last stop on the fly for the final chords: fantastic! And the others pieces of this Easter and Pentecost book are equally successful. Congratulations, dear Paul, for your book, bravo et encore BRAVO. Guy
Love the dance like introduction to Jesus Christ is risen today and then into the regular speed. Your concerto is a gem. Duke Street tempo is beautifully slow but your treble - is brilliant. The fanfare on Ellacombe really stirs the blood. It must have bee an real joy to play this grand organ -good to see the video of you actually playing on this great organ. Love the transitions to your playing on your earlier 2 manual Hauptwerke and then on to your three manual with cantabile. You have such a broad ranging talent Paul. One of the great things of your video it to see how you have developed and matured as an artist over some years. Loved your introduction to the meditation - I remember some of your recording on that great organ and playing your Meditation really puts one into a quiet meditative state. The toccata really caps off what has been an absolute joy to watch and listen to dear friend. Penguins rule - love from Australia.
Guten Tag, lieber Paul!
Paul, I’m so blessed by your selections of those beautiful hymns that have endured the test of time. Your transcriptions of these hymns fit the text so beautifully. I sense that the words touch your heart through the music. “All music should reflect the character of God”. Yours certainly does! Thank you. 18:34
Just found you maybe ten days ago. I am a musician/pianist college teacher who has lost his career due to a number of injuries, requiring orthopedic and neurological surgeries on my shoulders, arms, and hands. I not only enjoy hearing and seeing you, perform but you and other great performers like you, truly help me keep my sanity.
Hey Jesse, thank you so much for watching! I'm very sorry to hear about your injuries and hope that you are still able to play the piano at least! On the other side I'm so happy that you enjoy my music and the videos here on TH-cam! Thank you for watching 😀
Paul it is a delight to find your fine talents, which you so kindly share with us who are near and far away. Bless you bunches and those you love, especially in this coming Lent and Easter season. The music really does match the significant music of Advent and Christmas for those of us in liturgically-centered churches. Thank you for your generosity of spirit, and the way you conduct your channels!! DJ in Knoxville TN
Dear Paul, again a fantastic music book and a series of very beautiful and impressive compositions that every organist should get and delight the communities all over the world at Easter ….. as just a listener, that would also please me, as it is certainly even more beautiful live... But I am also happy to hear from you sometime... at least in parts. Thank you for these compositions and recordings🐧👍🏻🐧👍🏻🐧👍🏻🐧
Another wonderful collection, Paul. I keep thinking I will retire but you continue to write music I just have to learn and share with a congregation - I may never retire!🤣
Reading on the covers of Bach's manuscripts: "For the profit and use of the studious musical young", I regretted that he naively believed that the youth would become a continuation of Bach's "Ocean", from the perfection and completeness of which no continuation could follow. But hope for modern music still burns when talented composers are born on earth who enthusiastically draw from the heritage of Bach and continue this truly cosmic tradition in music, filling it with young vitality and fire! I think old man Bach would be touched that his incredible collections of "exercises" really have students after hundreds of years.
Dear Paul, I am only an amateur old small village church organist, and you are really my best inspiration and teacher. I am totally stealing all of your music. Heh heh. Thank you for your excellent composing. 🐧
enjoying every post i see announced on YT, looking forward to next week, the new post :) and to the day the postal service will deliver this new album. Big thanks for your creativity and enthusiasm.
I forgot to mention I found you through your friend and colleague Richard McVeigh (sp.) I have had to have quite a bit of metal put in my right hand over the past 16 months, but I am doing well. Although I can play very little, the great blessing that has come to me, the reality of having enjoyed so much teaching all undergraduate music theory, at one time or another in my career, because in a small univerisity you teach in your secondary area of teaching, and in some cases even third area. Also, I have had the time to follow my great passion, opera. Family and friends have suggested I not travel alone, if possible, so with my nurse/caregiver/friend who is 40 years younger than me, we have made numerous trips from our homes in the Tampa, FL area to NYC and the MET and, of course Broadway. I have a horrible voice, but for a number of years I was the pianist for an internationally reknowned baritone. As a result of this experience my favorite performance experiences were as a collaborative pianist, my favorite genre being the German Art Song. I look forward to following your career for hopefully a number of years.
That Cantabile is I think one of the most sublime pieces you've ever written! Although the closing few measures of your variations on O Sacred Head are equally mesmerizing! 😍😇
This is a great collection of organ pieces for the season of Easter and Pentecost. A wide variety of styles and ability levels. I appreciate your comments as you present the various videos. As always, thank you so much, Paul, for sharing your gifts with us.
As performer AND composer - Congraatulations! This is an excellent mix of tempi volume and style which should please a wide range of tastes Many thanks for it.
Hi Paul your channel has been an inspiration to many others including myself! As a church organist myself, I have been searching for suitable hymn improvisations that are accessible in terms of difficulty level and yet enjoyable to play and for others hear. But there are not many of such pieces I can find. When I heard this video of you composition, I purchased a copy for myself and I thoroughly enjoyed playing them so much so that I recorded myself playing too on my humble virtual organ and youtube channel. Thank you for your gift of music to everyone in this community. I m Bernard, all the way from Singapore!
What a wonderful and varied colllection, Paul. As I mentioned in earlier comments, the "Veni Creator" is my favorite chant tune, and you have certainly used it to wonderful advantage, not once, but twice. Super! And your treatment of Christ ist Erstanden is captivating. Thank you for sharing your marvelous talent with us!
Thank you so much, Kevin! Yes - I‘m living in Leipzig! I wasn’t with the Thomaner-Choir but I‘m regularly playing services with them at St Thomas Church 😀
It's a very fine collection. Makes me wish I'd learned to play piano and possibly organ when in Parochial School, instead of just being in the school choir. (On the St. Thomas's choir you play for - can you do a video with them?) From Chicago, U.S.A.
Thank you so much for watching!! If you enjoyed this selection of pieces you can get your printed-/or PDF copy of this new book here! 😀 www.paulfeyorganist.com/products/easter-pentecost
I have run out of superlatives to describe the pleasure your playing gives. Heavenly. Thank you.
