I own the 2012 Yaris, built in Japan in 2011. It has the same Mazda engine, but is a 5 speed manual. The engine has proven to be extremely reliable.
Im living without android auto or carplay not sure what the need is for blutooth works great

Hey I love you show” thanks for what you do. Just an FYI. Toyota created Scion to compete with pricing with Korean cars like Kia,Hyundai. It was more for younger adults. It did not work. So they brought those cars back to the a Toyota side. I think Toyota has this joint venture with Mazda because they are adhering to a previous contract deal with Mazda. In which they had to buy so many vehicles for so many years. Same thing happened with General Motors and Suzuki. Remember GEO. Thank you

Every test review I have seen on this car gives it high marks.I spoke with a owner and he was super happy overall, price, gas mileage were a big factor. He said that he paid $15,500. with incentives.
I would NOT buy this car. In fact instead of purchasing this car I bought a 2017 Yoyota corolllla. If you want Toyotas reliability in a small sedan buy a Camy or Cotola

That seems like a lot. I can buy a Kia Soul with options for that. Or a base model left over last year Toyota Prius C for a grand more. $13,500 is the price I have heard from a few, which seems appropriate. I was offered $14,600 recently to buy an iA that I offered $13k for, but honestly I thought there was better choices for that kind of cash. Handles great, attractive dash, good crash test scores, but a bit slow. I have heard great fuel economy can be achieved if you are light on your foot on the highway.

Toyota holds its value better than kia. Many people get rid of their hybrids after or arond 110k miles. Because they feel if they break down the parts and repairs are expensive as hell.
I would buy a 10 grand Mirage before I bought a 16500 Prius C, but I know a lot of people with lots of miles on a C, over 200k and the same battery. Trouble is, the iA is actually a Mazda. Nothing "wrong" with Mazda, but they are NoToyota. Kia is rated VERY high in reliability and the Soul holds it's value very well. It was rated top of it's class for reliability and satisfaction by JD Power. I am certain a Soul will hold it's value way better than the iA. 15k for an economy car is still bigger bucks.
When Toyota has the confidence to do a straight rebadge of a Mazda that says a lot for Mazda's design and quality. Doubt I'd buy it, but I would consider a Mazda CX5.

Nissan Versa is much more roomier and 5k less but the interior looks like it came straight out of my 1995 Tercel. This Yaris feels so much more refined but is smaller... yikes! Decisions!

These are about the same price as a Kia Soul left over from last year. Base model for both. This has a 1.5 liter and the Kia Soul a 1.6 with 138 hp. These seem to get good 8 mpg better. The Kia has much more space. The iA has the back up camera, all the safety equipment. The Yaris is more fun to fling around. The Kia and Yaris have equal great crash test scores. I am attracted to the Yaris for the premium name, MPGs, and sporty steering, as well as the infotainment system, and I need to seal with tight parking spaces in town. The Kia for it's long warranty, still gets excellent marks for reliability, has the space (we have 2 kids in car seats... 1 will soon be a booster). The Kia is actually a bigger car. Not sure? Any thoughts?
kia soul that gen had 10 mpg worse than yaris sedan. i would think you'd be better off getting a honda fit vs that gen kia soul. i got the yaris because of styling.
Buy one used. These are reliable.

Toyota could just bring the Vios to the US. It's more spacious than the Yaris IA. But Toyota wouldn't because the size of the Vios might take away Corolla sales

We got a 2017 Toyota Yaris IA and rides like poop. I can hear every freaking bump. I think it's the vacuum pump or fuel injectors. Super loud! It only has 43K miles. 2 owners before me. I'm about to ship it back to Carvana. Noisy car!!!!

david henriquez I own a Yaris IA and I get 40+ on highway road trips. In the city commuting I get 38. The best I ever got was 45 mpg from Las Vegas to the coast. 😁👍🏻

You must be biased because Toyota does make modern cars. All of them have good outer modern styling. Back up camera and display are a feature in ALL models. Unlike the lame other vehicle manufactures that don't have it in the lower models. Even though they squeeze you for many thousands and thousands of dollars.
AW: for Toyota to offer a re-badge Mazda2 as the Yaris should tell you how good Mazda is. I think it is your loss for not trying trying it out.

Man it’s just...ugly. You can see Mazda all over this car. It’s the type of car that’ll do the job but I could never drive this thing.
