One of the things that a lot of people don't do when running a Mac in Bootcamp is to get legitimate Nvidia drivers. The supplied Apple drivers don't cut it at all and are never updated. I have a 2011 MBP with a 6750M, which is a pretty lame card, but my FPS still increased double in some cases by using Catalyst beta drivers.
the quality looks great! How do you set your bootcamp up (amount of partition space, etc.) I'm gonna get my hands on windows xp or later and nab this game or one of the old ones on steam
can any1 tell me what framerates i can except on a macbook retina with ONLY iris pro enabled? i've been looking for an answer all over the internet - but nothing
I have a Huge problem with this game on my macbook pro retina (with 750m) How did you update your nvideo drivers? I can install it from bootcamp but not from nvidia.com and i have an old version of it
Also check that your macbook is switching from the Intel Iris Pro graphics ( 5200 ) to the GT750M. If it isn't, you might need to shut down your computer completely, then hold ALT/OPTION while booting to select windows ( rather than selecting target disk in OS X. )
I have a 2012 rmbp with GT650m and currently I play on high, fps goes from 26-40 with 1920x1200 res. You should try playing on high or n all low setting with 2880x1800 res.
Anyways after doing some research it seems something is wrong with the drivers for the 750M when using windows 7. People are also getting slow downs even at lowest possible setting when using windows 7 and sometimes windows 8. Wondering if you did anything driver wise that helped make it run better?
Hey Jonathan I'm wondering about something, why do you think they used the gt 750m instead of the GTX 780m. Also what fps are you playing at whilst not recording, anyways thanks for uploading the video I have the same specs on mine.
Hey, I just got the same laptop as you with 750GTX, I installed bootcamp Windows 7 Ultimate, and installed the game. However, mine is chugging really bad, no matter what resolution or settings I put. I'm thinking it's not using the dedicated graphics, and using the integrated one? Anyway you can help me out? Not sure why it's so slow.
just got this laptop and wanted to install windows on it so i can run battlefield. but i read on the forums that people were having problems installing windows 8. did you have any problems and how you installed windows. great video btw
Hi, Can you help me please? Last week fell a glass of cola on my late 2012 15" Retina...its still working but I will need a new one... I run BF4 on 1680x1050 on low.Now I don't know...should I buy the new late 2013 Retina or build a Desktop PC and buy only a 13" Retina... Can you please check something for me? -Can ULTRA details be played on 1680x1050 resolution (without recording on Fraps) and how high are the FPS? -What do you mean with OC in your video? What did you overclock and how high?
What is your average fps and the minimum when u run it on 720p (medium or high). I'm thinking about buying this game but i want to be sure before hand that i can play it with an average of at least 55fps.
cz macbooks arent designed for gaming. a gtx780m is at least 600$ more expensive , and needs A LOT of cooling and A LOT of power. So if ur gonna fit it inside tthe macbook is gonna be ~1.5 kg heavier (introducing new fans) , 4cm thicker (which is like 70% thicker), and instead of 9-10hours it will last 3hours. Plus its only useful for gaming , a 750m is more than enough for engineers and designers. And judging from people around me, less than 10% of macbook owners are gamers.
How high frame rate would you get if you turned it down to 1650 x 1050 or the same resolution as the PS4, how would it compare ? I'm thinking maybe 60 - 80 fps or maybe 50 - 70 fps.
Are you playing it on Windows 7 or Windows 8? I read on the forums that it runs better on Windows 8 (comparing Win8/Win7 with people with equal machines).
I've been playing Skyrim on Steam and the ESO beta through bootcamp Windows 8.1 and the temp hovers around 90C. I stop playing when it gets higher because I'm really not trying to burn this thing out and spend another $2600. I'm not sure if its a normal mac thing because this is my first. I already installed SMC but I'm still trying to find the balance between managing the temp and making the fans whine. What's the best cooling pad for a mbp? (The vents being in the back as opposed to the bottom) I'm not worried about how it looks and what it costs. I just want the best one to do the job.
+Jonathan Persaud can I rub battlefield 4 on boot camp on my 24 inch iMac 2010 model. 12 GB ram graphics are 512mb thing idk but I heard u can run battlefield 4 on those graphics but at low settings. Anyway 2010 iMac 24 inch the upgraded model core i5 . I can run ultra on my brothers PC but I wanna play it on NY Mac using boot camp so yea I wonder if I can run it AF low settings? Thanks
Well 40 fps is pretty decent for a notebook on The most hardcore game and 1080p medium Thats pretty good and i have a game booster and i get 50fps witch is The recommendation when you play those games and its not made for gaming but its cool to see you can play The most intensive games on a very small laptop.
i have a acer aspire v3 (labtop) with nvidia GeForce 750M but i can play black ops 2 only woth medium graphics...how is it possible to play battlefield 4 without lags? if i try to play cod bo2 with higher graphics it lag...
how do you arrive to play with average config without being disturbed by number of fps ? I have the same computer and with BF4 i haven't your results. can you please give me your procedure. thanks
Overclock with Msi Afterburner, try that thats what i did a little more heat but i play one game take a break and come back. and you have 750m or 650m?
What are you doing to keep the temperature under control? I just got the same model and am having overheating issues. Idle temps in Windows 8 (with Bootcamp) are around 60 C, and I just tried some BF3 (at low settings and 1600x900 resolution), and it caused the CPUs to reach temperatures of over 100 C...even with a cooling pad.
Double check that your bootcamp drivers are up to date. You can also try a program called Lubbo's Fan Control ( which I use ) to control the fan speed.
Jonathan Persaud I did update the drivers. I limited the FPS in BF4 to 35 (low settings, 1600x900) and the temps are still around 85C, even when I set the fan speeds to 5900RPM. How much did you OC your CPU/GPU?
I tried installing the game with windows 7 bootcamped but the graphic card isn't taken as default for the game so it was stuck with the iris pro... did you had this problem ?
hai guys my concern in this mac would be regarding the keyboard freeze issue , that sometimes after sleep mode, the macbook freezes when it wakes , is it a bug issue or a hardware issue ? and plus i have read in this forum ( discussions.apple.com/message/24209700#24209700 ) that using the left usb causes the machine to be responsive in its system , hangs and especially both in the keypad and trackpad system , does this apply to your computer also ? is this a hardware failure or software failure, do read up the forum ive pasted here, for this thing , though small is a huge issue for me, who is going to spend my money on a computer that would last for the next 5 years . thank you
Running Windows 8.1 x64, i installed windows 7 then 8, 8 works much better at retina resolution some apps dont scale right still like ea origin but works fine
Maybe this is a stupid question, but if I buy this game on mac, will I be able to play with friends who play on pc? If that isn't the case, I'll have to install windows on my macbook. Thanks for the upload man.
The game runs on Windows: These people showing the gameplay have Windows installed through the Bootcamp Utility you can find in OS X. It's really easy to use :)
For those of u who game, dont get a macbook get a blade 14 or blade pro.i know its expensive but its more worth it if u game and has better specs with it
Are you crazy guy? Mcbpr 15 retina is much better than razor blade 14 -Better ram (16 gb) -Better display (2880x1800) -BETTER DESIGN -Better OS ( my opinion) The razer has just a graphic card a little bit better than the mcbk...
I own a Macbook Pro, but there are several reasons to purchase a Razer Blade over the MBPr 15" for gaming. 1. The new MBPr 15" base model [ $2000 ] is an AWESOME machine... but not for gaming. It doesn't include a dedicated graphics card. This means your performance for CPU tasks like rendering work is improved, but your gaming performance is not. This model can game, for sure, but it won't compare to the Blade's dedicated graphics. 2. Even if you bring the Blade's specs up to the upper tier 15" model [ $2500 ] the GT 765M will outperform the GT 750M. The GT 750M has been over clocked, we theorize to the speed of a GTX 760M, but the GT 765M still has something like 3 times the amount of shader cores. You're going to get more throughput from that card, no matter what. 3. The battery life is about half of the Macbook Pro in their native operating systems, but that still leaves the Razer Blade with 6 hours of battery life for your work-time. If you take it to school or to work you'll be using it for the good part of a day without too much trouble. I don't regret my Macbook Pro. For the reasons I purchased it, it's far beyond my expectations. It has a brighter, more vibrant display because it trades aesthetics and resolution for the quicker response times you'd find in a gaming machine like the Blade. It has a lower power GPU, but a much longer battery life. It really depends on your desires -- If you want a long lasting, powerful work machine with a wonderful Unix OS, pick the Macbook. If you want a Windows machine that's finely built and performs beautifully for your gaming needs, pick the Blade.
NicoMontage I wanted to address this: for the base price of $2000, the Macbook Pro retina will not include a dedicated GPU, will have 8GB of RAM and a very similar processor.
Have the same than that and you will be desapointed playing btf 4 because it gets really hot I get 100 degree abd there is ni problem its just like that rhe fans are too small
Oh dam man, but i have a desktop pc [Check bio for link] that i built i game mostly on that it was built for under 1k 2 years ago, but i needed a mac for school and other stuff so i waited for this one because i was hoping for a 780m but luck ran out still got it because its still not bad, but i run medium at 1080p for that res i would say it would run on high not ultra and i over clocked the graphics card in windows with MSI AFTERBURNER great too! it will work on your 650m too!
i didnt buy this to game i bought this for video editing and college, i have a built gaming pc [instagram.com/p/feKULPI0Cp/] and a few xbox's and PlayStation for that, gaming on this is just a play, ive had gaming laptops before just too bulky to carry around with me everywhere this macbook is always on me

YES! i always recommend that. same happened with my 09 mini
i got it 4 christmas on mac and was not sure if it would be good but thanks
the quality looks great! How do you set your bootcamp up (amount of partition space, etc.) I'm gonna get my hands on windows xp or later and nab this game or one of the old ones on steam
Recording with Fraps gives false results. Recording with a camera and having Fps displayed is the best way.
That is the truth
Why at 00:01 is it written : "GTX 750M you're wrong it only has a GT750M
this is the highest quality you can play without lege?
this was in FULL HD?
nice video!
I would think because of size/heat playing on medium at 1080p around 40 to 50 maybe 30 once in a while
i would i mean i still play it more on my desktop more but on the go i would its a good all around system, just the price is hard to justify.
did u test it on AC4?
can any1 tell me what framerates i can except on a macbook retina with ONLY iris pro enabled? i've been looking for an answer all over the internet - but nothing
i mean if you keep the graphic settings on low you should get 30 maybe? not sure
Record it with Fraps showing FPS !!?
Feels more like 20-25 FPS in some scenes....
I have a Huge problem with this game on my macbook pro retina (with 750m)
How did you update your nvideo drivers?
I can install it from bootcamp but not from nvidia.com and i have an old version of it
I have too low FPS-maybe 5..) i can not play. it's not only my problem
Igor Korneychuk check for the new 700m drivers r331.82 or something
Also check that your macbook is switching from the Intel Iris Pro graphics ( 5200 ) to the GT750M. If it isn't, you might need to shut down your computer completely, then hold ALT/OPTION while booting to select windows ( rather than selecting target disk in OS X. )

Hi. Nice demo. Could you please let me know if the game's running under windows or mac os?
just for your info it was the 2.3 max 3.5ghz and 16gb ram
i have a macbook pro 15 inch with retina and it works just fine for gaming, that is if you have bootcamp
And will I be able to change it back to apple layout
I really like mac, (I am sharing a 13" with my family) and would like to purchase my own. clearly this can handle BF4 but how about Arma 3?
How much FPS do you get with these settings?
(without fraps)
low 30 to low 40's even more if you turn down res
Hey Jonathan I'm wondering about something, why do you think they used the gt 750m instead of the GTX 780m. Also what fps are you playing at whilst not recording, anyways thanks for uploading the video I have the same specs on mine.

hey man im thinking about getting the 15" with 2.3ghz, 512GB and 16GB with the 750m. how is the battery life in windows?
3-5hours on performance
What is the exact config of your laptop 2,3 / 2,6 or 2,7 Ghz processor ? 8 or 16 Gb ram

fraps was showing mid 40s and idk why my recording was choppy.

i'm still trying to find a good cooling pad
i want to buy 21.5 in 2.7 ghz iMac i wanna play battlefield with this in boot camp. Can i play in ultra settings without any problem?
No you can't, i have a good gaming laptop with GTX 770 still cannot handle on ultra. But you can play on low with resolution scale of 80%
VictoryRune you are saying anything with mobile (like notebook)doesnt play like in desktop right ?
Tarık Sapmaz yes mobile is not the greatest i have the desktop gtx 770 and i can play bf4 pn ultra at 40 plus frames at 1080p

Macs are overpriced, just buy a desktop or laptop.
geez those comments make me speechless....
I'm 12 years old I have bootcamp and when I read these comments I want to shoot myself

Because 750m power consumption is around 30w; and 780m is around 100w !!! This is first. Second - 780m cost around 3times more (+- 500-600USD)
i have a acer aspire v3 (labtop) with nvidia GeForce 750M but i can play black ops 2 only woth medium graphics...how is it possible to play battlefield 4 without lags? if i try to play cod bo2 with higher graphics it lag...

Jonathan Persaud
thank you for the answer Jonathan ! i have the 750m on my mbpr
did your mac begin to overheat??
But if u get boot camp can u still have a apple layout sort of
i use an xbox 360 controller
Boot camp runs it in Windows or OS X. No you will not see any "Apple layouts".
it's a bit laggy or its my pc?
I was wondering if you have overheating problem? thanks!
it goes 89 max make sure its on a flat surface with no platic or cloth wood would be best or a laptop fan
Please do a NFS The Run video.
Does it run hot?
Hey, wouldnt the temps and fans speeds get really high after a while? How do you deal with that?
I use a laptop fan mat to help with cooling :D
how much did u oc?
Apple should making gaming pcs. But then again, they would be priced high af.
can you get gt750 for macbook 15"???
are you asking or telling?
Thanks dude!

85c on which? That temperature isn't out of the expected range for your Macbook Pro retina for either the CPU or GPU, in either case.
Have you tried running it at native retina resolution?
like 10-15fps
I tried installing the game with windows 7 bootcamped but the graphic card isn't taken as default for the game so it was stuck with the iris pro... did you had this problem ?
... Did you order the one with the 750m? (dont take this offensive)
yes
now i installed windows 8.1 and it works like a charm :) 40-60 fps with the Geforce Experience settings
8.1 is really good don't understand how some people don't like it
True... I fell in love with it
hai guys my concern in this mac would be regarding the keyboard freeze issue ,
that sometimes after sleep mode, the macbook freezes when it wakes , is it a bug issue or a hardware issue ?
and plus i have read in this forum ( discussions.apple.com/message/24209700#24209700 ) that using the left usb causes the machine to be responsive in its system , hangs and especially both in the keypad and trackpad system , does this apply to your computer also ?
is this a hardware failure or software failure, do read up the forum ive pasted here,
for this thing , though small is a huge issue for me, who is going to spend my money on a computer that would last for the next 5 years . thank you
Running Windows 8.1 x64, i installed windows 7 then 8, 8 works much better at retina resolution some apps dont scale right still like ea origin but works fine
how did you get it to run on mac? i thought it was windows only?
Probably dual booting Windows.
Maybe this is a stupid question, but if I buy this game on mac, will I be able to play with friends who play on pc? If that isn't the case, I'll have to install windows on my macbook. Thanks for the upload man.
its only available for pc at this time
The game runs on Windows: These people showing the gameplay have Windows installed through the Bootcamp Utility you can find in OS X. It's really easy to use :)
What's the FPS with 720p with low settings?
ARTJUNKIES Probably around 50 -60
Nice! Thanks!
+ARTJUNKIES 60 on medium with 720p i tried it
Nice! Marek Jakubovie
how many hours does your battery gives on windows when playing ?
1-3 depending on brightness and so on
Thanks Jonathan , and by the way when your on windows and not playing games , how long does the battery last Jonathan Persaud
4-5 Hours never as good as osx but i still like 8.1
Jonathan Persaud what was the reading of fraps without recording on those settings .
If I get boot camp will it be windows 8
well you need the windows 8 install with a valid Product key or other means
Wait will bf4 be able to run on Mac or not plz reply
You need bootcamp
turn off ssao or any kind of ao to get a boost in fps
Dud he was recirding add 10 fps
perfoverlay.drawfps 1
^ to use the game's built-in framerate counter
Is this on 8GB RAM or 16GB RAM and whats the processor specs?
Oh nevermind lol
what's your RAM, GHZ?
He has 16gb of 1600mhz ram, with either a 2.3 or a 2.6 ghz I7 Quad core crystalwell processor.
But the macbook is still good I got a game booster so my fps increase of 10fps witch is owsome
Win 7, oder 8.1?
Windows 8.1
If you play on 720p you are going too have about 40 on ultra
*GT 750M and not GTX 750M
Well I got a guy from a shop who can just install windows dual boot to much hassle to be honest and I can't be bothered with it
Its not really that hard. if you have a windows install disc bootcamp does all the work for the most part
oh really
Can't tell if that's sarcastic
its not lol
Lol 😁
This part of the game was not on the game I finished on Battlefield 4, and why is Russia winning in this game?
what?
i got nothing to say for this one
Lau Jake lol okay thought I was the only one trying to understand that.
For those of u who game, dont get a macbook get a blade 14 or blade pro.i know its expensive but its more worth it if u game and has better specs with it

NicoMontage I wanted to address this: for the base price of $2000, the Macbook Pro retina will not include a dedicated GPU, will have 8GB of RAM and a very similar processor.
They say its 8hours but I get 8 9 an d 10 but mostly 9 and btf I get 4 hours
I get about the same and yea around 3 to 4 on windows with gaming :)
Plz reply
for BF4 gaming 2,3 or 2,7 and 8 or 16 ram - not making any difference !!! The video card is what matters!
