I love the style of this video, very different to anything that you've done before. The history lesson was very informative. Thank you for this! Very Enjoyable
I'm sat here holding back the tears, I loved Berlin-Tegel airport and the building it sits in and now this era ends . I can't describe how sad I am especially with all the history it holds. it was an old airport but still did the job very well and was coinvent for the city. #DankeTXL. This airport will truly be missed especially for the role it played in bringing Germany back to one . Such an interesting history, thank you so much for this video, just devastating that's its coming to an end. So sad seeing the last ever flight leave. Although some of it looks to be preserved loved the music btw
I grew up with this airport, I could see the planes landing from my balcony. It has been there for my whole life and now there is a tremendous void. In the last few weeks ahead of the closure, I went there every day. I spend basically the whole last weekend at the airport, I am actually surprised I didn't run into one of you guys. The whole time I was waiting for you guys to make a last Tripreport and now having a week of TXL videos is a lot more than I could have hoped for! Thanks for making those! Dit jebt een Daumen hoch!

A big thank you goes to everyone who kept Tegel running. And to the architects, who have achieved a remarkable achievement. They have created a building that is deeply rooted in the hearts of Berliners and beyond. It is amazing that a building that is closed and its use is discontinued triggers such emotions, touches hundreds of thousands of people all over the world deeply and even makes them cry. Also other Airports have been closed and replaced by a new one: Munich Riem in the year 1992 and Kai Tak Airport in Hong Kong in the year 1998. But I think these airports haven't been so unique and so it was not so emotional. However - TXL was special and will always have a place in my heart.
Berlin is one of my favourite cities and the very first time I visited, the first moment was touching down at Tegel Airport, a memory that will stay with me forever.
this is a brilliant video, I know Tegel wasn't the most loved airport, but it definitely had its times in history. Will indeed be missed hopefully by all avgeeks.
Thank you, David! I am so sad that I am stuck in the USA due to the virus and cannot be there in person. I remember the days before Tegel even and have flown out of it when I was still living in my hometown. I am now in Arizona and am excited to see BER when I can travel again, but I will miss this little airport in the city.
Just as I watch the famous Island Hopper video, this notification popped up. The Tegel Airport will always be remembered in our mind. Her legacy was the greatest all of time...
Went there too on saturday to say goodbye - it was very emotional. I was considering booking the last Lufthansa flight on the A350 as well, but decided against it due to the rising numbers of Covid-infections in Germany. I kind of regret that decision now, but at least I will be able to watch your tripreport, which I’m really looking for! Tegel was never my favorite airport, but it’s one of the airports I used the most, which means many many beautiful memories. And because of that, Tegel will always have a special place in my heart. You have nothing to regret, it is better to stay safe from this virus then risking yourself travelling there. Nobody should under estimate the number of deaths from this disease.
Absolutley beautifully done! I’m so grateful to one of my favourite aviation TH-cam channels for authoring such a comprehensive farewell to TXL. Fantastic coverage of this historic event. TXL was one of my favorite airports to operate in and out of. The facility, while not fancy, was simple and worked very well. The controllers were always fantastic. I have many fond memories in that Flüghof. Auf Wiedersehen Tegel!
My favorite airport on earth. I knew this day would come but not hearing the sound of an airplane flying over Bürgerpark Pankow anymore is just so sad.
Also what was a 10 Minute Taxi Ride or being dropped off by a friend, is now is a 10 minutes Bus or Tram Ride plus 35 minutes on the S-Bahn. I suppose I could pay 110€ or so for a taxi 😬
