I’m not sure what’s going on in the UK. But my U7s down here in Australia barely stand still and are off with the fairies half the time. Takes a lot of nurturing to get them to listen and apply themselves like this little superstar in this vid. Half my session is, “Johnny…. Johnny stop eating the grass and get back into line mate… Taj, Taj stop throwing dirt at Myles… oi Myles, no need to cry” …. 😂. Thanks mate, great video.
As a dad of a 7yo just starting in soccer/football in the States, it's definitely far more casual here... whenever I watch european kids soccer videos it makes me feel like it's focused on getting kids into the pro pipeline
My 8 yr old has been playing for his local football team for 2 seasons now. And today after his game he cried because he said some of his team mates were laughing at him playing. I've never been a pushy parent with sports etc, along as he's happy. But after today I am determined to encourage him more, I have just bought training cones and some other bits to take him down the park to give him extra training. I came on youtube to look for some training videos, as I haven't got a clue about football..lol. this is the 1st video I came across, and bow we are both fired up to try the drills out. Many thanks mate, you've actually inspired me to be a more involved dad in my boys sports. 🙏
I coach kids and when I see some making fun of others I make them do drills I know they're not good with to humble them and make sure to question why they were making fun of others when they are struggling with the drill. It works every time and puts them back in line. Kids can get cocky and nasty with each other.
@jf9979 cheers for your reply. Since watching this video, I've taken my boy to the school feild to do your drills. And this morning he scored his 1st ever goal in his game. He was absolutely beaming with pride, meanwhile I was tearing up on side lone. Proud as bloody punch mate lol. Thankyou for your videos.
Lee, from one trainer to another, this video is a masterclass!! Truly appreciate you putting this content out there. Young Jacob got so much from this and you can tell he was truly enjoying himself and stayed engaged during every drill. Class mate!!
Love this. All the challenges around the kids dealing with lots of things to focus on (body shape, control with first touch, getting under the ball, attention span, etc) are so familiar. And then the coach not overloading the kid with too much info, emphasising core concepts (and ignoring less important stuff) - good stuff. I love your more technical stuff but this one really put a smile on my face. You were great with Jake & Jake is a legend.
I just volunteered to be the coach for my son's team and I've never played football before so I can't tell you how invaluable this video is. Thank you.
I added a zero and made it how to coach a 60 year old! For real..I never played the game before. Raised in NY we only played American football growing up...but after watching the women’s World Cup last year and later the men’s game in Mexico..and more..well, I fell in love with the real football..the global game. THE beautiful game.Your instruction is some of the best because it takes you from the ground up. I have literally followed all these drills. Thank you, Joner..you CAN teach an old dog new tricks! Proving it’s never too late to learn!
Definitely needed to see this. My son is 8 but has only gotten into soccer enough to want to actually practice over the last 2 months. "Not overloading" is definitely something I have to keep reminding myself of. As well as giving him a chance to figure some things out on his own. Great video
This is PERFECT I played soccer growing up but coaching is something I’ve never done I’m starting next week and freaking out don’t want to fail the kids! I’ll be using all of these
I've played up to college and have a good insight on football. Started coaching my son's teams for the past two years and trying to expand my knowledge on coaching; this video provided that. New subscriber here!
A lot of coaches in the United States dont know how to show you the proper way of recieving and passing the ball. Shooting as well. Some are even private trainers lol but when i see you, you can tell that you have the touch just by dribbling in that box in the beginning of the video. You can tell just by your first touch! You have to have a lot of patience as well teaching little kids the proper way of handling the ball. Soccer is growing everyday! Nice videos by the way! Keep it up
I really purchase what you are showing, I want to thank you for that. Then, I live now in a country as a foreigner although I have citizenship. And work in academy of football, as a coach of kids 5,6,7,8 years old. I work on this correction of technics (shooting, controls, dribble…) but the other coaches already work on the tactics and playing passes one two!! Knowing that in the methodology and the monthly and annual training program in the academy where I work, there are no instructions on teaching passes to children of this age! When I talked with coaches about that, they answered me that there are different trainers with different philosophies 😂😂😂!!! I just wanted to share this story with you 😅. Until now, many coaches do not understand that these slices of ages need Moral and psychological support, but Do not rush and consider them as teenage people who understand everything and are able to implement everything you expect from them. Sometimes I wanted to quit, just quit. But when I talk with other friends which in live in other countries, they told me the same. Thank you so much and I will follow you 👍
I has been watching so many football tutorials for kid and this is the best one. I love the video and will reference to this video to teach my son. Thanks.
This is great, but I have 30 unruly kids who can't do half what this boy can. I can't isolate one kid and focus on him when the rest just start kicking the ball in the goal and fighting eachother. Yesterday I was teaching one boy to do just simple toe taps, he couldn't do it first try obviously, and he cried for several minutes and I had to console him and forget about other. This is one tough job.
Yeah, I came here to say this. How do you work on these things when 1. They don't listen, and 2. You have 10 other kids vying for your attention. This is probably a great video for kids that are going to be playing pro or something, but not for your average 6yo 😂
Well now it's like you're reading our minds Coach! 😂 🙏 This is not only a great follow-up/addition to the."training beginners" video you did recently, but it's a source of inspiration for first-time/grassroots coaches! Thank you again for all the content! Best regards from Northeast Texas! ⚽🤙
Absolutely boss. Thank you for this video. I am thinking to start coaching kids for some time but could not make up my mind. You are such an inspiration. I will go ahead with it. Thank you again.
I have just started a team for my 6yr old son Alfie. These videos will help me a lot. Have our 1st friendly tonight so fingers crossed. Repetitiveness and patience is key as you've said due to their age
Awesome video. I think it’s really important when people are learning anything to try to learn the basics the correct way otherwise it’s years to recorrect mistakes. Good point to reiterate that it all should be fun.
Very important to notice that not all 6 years old kid will enjoy or perform as well as Jacob. Most kids this age will only want to play fun games Valuable content, but it's not for most kids
Thanks for sharing my dear friend. Been looking for a drill that will suit my 7year old daughter, she really comfortable doing this. Once again, thanks.
Really enjoyed this with my 5 year old son. Love your attention to detail. One more thing I think is huge, is having little Jacob doing the exercises, (not like other apps where the coach is doing it) this made my son feel more focused and competitive cause he wants to do it better than his little friend. Really a great coaching session. Do you offer a program for 5 and 6 years old on your app? Haven’t seen one there. Thx
Awesome video. Is your training program suitable for kids too ? And are there any goalkeeper drills included ?Have a 7yr old boy who's addicted to playing soccer. Thanks in advance.
Love this, But y'all are built different over there I guess. I got six year old's that can barely run straight much less with a ball. haha lord help'em. Slow and steady development on the other side of the pond. Cheers.
I need a video on how to do a whole practice with 10-15, 6-7 year olds. lol I got roped into being a volunteer coach in our first year playing and I’ve never played a day in my life! 🤦🏼♀️😂😅
Watch as many different TH-cam videos as you can, simplify difficult drills you see, make it fun! Last night I done a session with 16 boys aged 11 & 12, funnily enough I never used a ball until a match at the end. All the boys had fun and enjoyed the session despite not using a ball. Do a Warm up Drill 1: Bottle flip tic tac toe. Two teams, have to land a bottle flip (2 attempts each player) if they land it they grab a bib and place on grid. First team to get 3 in a row bibs wins. Drill 2: All boys jog in penalty box, coach shouts a number they have to get into groups of that number. (You could have all boys dribbling with a ball if you want) Drill 3: 3 lines of cones ( 3 different colours) Pair all boys up in the middle, to the left cone could be red and right blue so the stay on toes Vs partner if coach shouts change the have to rotate to partners position if he shouts red or blue they race to colour. Think Liverpool or France done It somewhere on TH-cam search fun drills. Depending how you want the team to play every week when my team play a match in training the rule is the ball isn't allowed to leave the ground unless it's a shot or a cross.
@@kcarter0265 no problem, I absolutely love coaching and have been doing it for years. I always use TH-cam and then adapt things myself. Young kids are definitely the hardest 😅
I have a few questions. I also want to do the same thing. I wanted to know: -do you need a license to work with 6 year olds? If so, where and how can I obtain it? Thank you!
If you are a parent of a 6 years old. Invite 3 more friends and give them a ball. He will learn way more from there and also have more fun. 6 years old!!! Do not fall for activities that people explain and you understand. The game is more complicated than that.
