Transcript: Hello, my name is Sara and I work for Vancro.
Vancro provides statewide services across the state of New Mexico, and we provide SSPs
SSPs are sighted guides that work with DeafBlind, Deaf+, and Deaf Senior Citizen consumers.
SSPs provide environmental information for consumers and communicate with consumers following the consumer's communication preferences.
SSPs support consumer autonomy.
Vancro is thrilled to announce that we will host an SSP training for people to become SSPs on October 28th and 29th,
which are a Saturday and Sunday.
The training will be from 9a to 5p both days in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The exact location of the training will be provided after registration.
But rest assured, it'll be here in Albuquerque.
You may feel hesitant to sign up to become an SSP and attend training.
Maybe you're not sure if you want to work as an SSP, that's okay!
If you come to training and decide, gosh, this just doesn't fit me - that is just fine!
There is no requirement to continue working as an SSP.
However, if you come to training and you love it and you just really want to do SSP work,
there is still no requirement to work a specific number of hours.
You get to decide your own schedule.
We'll offer you jobs and you are able to accept or decline them.
You are paid for attending training and we can offer RID CEUs at no additional charge.
