I had one of these little treasures as my second bike and lived on it: rode it to work( taking a route including some green lanes) and spent all my spare time riding in local woods adjacent to the village where I lived. Respected the countryside and farmer's property -also complied with highway regs. I passed my bike driving test on it in '78.It was written off in a hit and run( luckily I wasn't) but I had it rebuilt( at Vic Eastwood's) with a sammy miller frame and reregistered and rode for a few more years. I finally dold it to a chap who took ot back to California with him. I wonder where it is now ...

Loved the sound of the 70s' dirt bikes, both 2 strokes and 4 strokes. Huge fun.

I had one of these and it's still one of my most favorite bikes I've had. It will go anywhere. I've gone places you wouldn't ever take a larger bike.

I had that bike with high boy Sammy Miller frame, I lived on it from dawn to dusk, rid it everywhere off-road, through rivers up hills, had more fun on that bike that any other I've owned, also had many Honda 4T singles XL 100 125 185 250 now have a rockhopper 45 years later. . The only thing that has changed in the 1970s nobody bothered you riding off-road now everyone wants to stop you having fun, they're on the mobile phone taking your photo, ringing the cops, saying you're disturbing the peace and riding illegally (when you're riding legally on bridal ways and green lanes) I think some people have so little going on in their lives they go out looking for people to complain about, back in the 70s people seemed more relaxed about people riding motorbikes off-road, back then the wasteland/pit heaps/old railway lines had not been given to the dog walkers and was for everyone to use. .

I have the same bike. Thought it is not a powerful bike, it is a really great pleasure to drive it. I love it.

I did a road trip to the next state to buy a second one just because of the low gearing. Miracle machine of terrain domination.

My buddy had one of these in Japan and it was incredibly fun! Geared so low you could crawl up and over absolutely anything I should’ve bought that instead of the YZ426 I bought instead, like an idiot.

@@pierresassareu5487 I was 15 and didn't have the money for a Sammy Miller frame. My parents weren't particularly keen on motorbikes in the first place.

What value would you put on one that runs good, smokes a little at start up and is in fair to good condition? Got my eye on one that may buy this week. Thanks for the video, it helped me a lot. Just looking for something to ride around neighborhood in. The gearing is a bit weird on these, but they are different for sure.

If I can recall correctly, I sold this bike for $1,200. It was in pretty good shape though and this was before everything got crazy. Super fun bike!
