Samples from the Korean voices "Changing formation, start up the engines!" "They said there'd be no more wars, sigh" "In the sunrising dawn dream." (guy just spits out some first words of a famous SKorean war song) "...I shouldn't have come here in the first place." "Lead or follow, else get out of my way!"
Red Dragon is my first Wargame. The tutorials are not playable, you instead have to read and remember everything which is extremely hard on the battlefield. That has been really tough. My first couple of times I was confused as to how I could have forces in the zones and not capture them. Coming from CoH and any number of other games it's strange that a single command unit is absolutely required to take a zone even if you have complete ground control with your forces. I didn't understand the importance of observers, I over-estimated the stinger's capability, I bought tanks and watched them get taken out in seconds by enemy aircraft, some of my units refused to fire (turns out you need to watch their ammunition), the "time slow down" mechanic doesn't help if you can't make informed decisions, I didn't know anything about the enemy units I was facing other than what they looked like. On top of that I had pulled units from Busan on the campaign map who apparently could not reinforce (despite being there) because they used up their "initiative" during movement. Overall it has been an extremely frustrating experience, I've played this mission 5 times and each time I do a little better but ultimately fail. Keep in mind that in campaign, if a battle ends in a draw the zones will all remain in whatever their last state was. So if OPFOR take a zone or a zone goes neutral, they remain as such next battle. I auto-resolved a few rounds until the U.S. showed up but could not land their forces, I assume it's because I failed to secure the port. Cool game, extremely frustrating. I like not being forced into a tutorial, having my hand held, or slogging through a boring/scripted "tutorial mission" but damn there is a lot to learn and keep track of. I am enjoying your channel, learning quite a bit from here which helps me analyze my mistakes.
Arsenalrobert No kidding, everyone but me seems to be an expert. If I miss the smallest thing it can effect the entire outcome of the campaign! Then again, failure is always the best tutorial. Glad to have you as a viewer.
You and me both, from Shogun 1 through Rome 2. Even C&C series couldn't get me prepared for this game. Tutorial sucks, but learned a lot more from this vid.
Just bought it last night and I am playing it for the first time today. Wtf do I do, hahaha. The game is kind of like Total War but, in this game, you control a lot of singular units instead of 100+ units in each company. It's weird.
Hey, Korean watcher here. I admire your videos by the way. They are saying "I shouldn't have come here", "Oh man, this is going to be difficult", "We are ready", "What can we do about that?", "Gunman get ready!" And there are more. Don't bother trying to read the pronunciation. I know it is hard. Wish you luck!
YOU sir made me buy this game....YOU made it look so easy....im getting butt raped by this easy campain....You have no idea how happy im am that you re gonna make a ''walktrough'' of these....cheer!
Is it too late to comment on an almost five year old video :)? I picked up Red Dragon very recently coming from a long time with AirLand Battle, and I can see places where the campaign is more polished than it was back when you played it; the US Major comes through like that officer said he would, and the "Secure Seoul" etc. by day 10 only appeared once the US carrier group was in the area. I loved this battle when I played it! During the first day, the only aid was a fighter squadron I had vectored from Busan, and the pitched infantry battle over those same compounds resulted in an almost completely even draw in favor of the North. As they pulled back to regroup and attack the next day, I brought in a heavy tank battalion and strike squadron and whipped them so hard that the DPRK's 52nd Infantry Regiment was completely destroyed.
Reminds me of the novel Red Phoenix by Larry Bond. A techno thriller about North Korea invading South Korea. Awesome novel I recommend you all to read of you love this game.
I was gonna say that :) with THAT much detail I'd like to see a lot more of what goes on during ground battles. Especially when he launces those rocket attacks, he zoomed in on one of those for one video and it looked absolutely amazing.
TimenyCricket Same haha! And I will probably lose lots of battles, just because I'll be looking at individual fights all the time XD I really really just want to see a Huey come in and drop off some troops to reinforce others, with the m60/minigun firing as it does. Basically, I want to re-enact Vietnam
I never understood how to get enemy areas. This campaign is supposed to be easy but it's super hard. The enemy is attacking none stop. It's impossible to eliminate them.

I'm here 6 years late. This game will be free next week on Epic. Kind of weird hearing Raptor's voice from back in the day. TBH, I didn't realize it was him at 1st.
I am watching this today trying to get through this campaign and his strategy wouldn’t have worked in the slightest. The amount of extra units they have in the campaigns nowadays is insurmountable

The answer to your early question: I'm presently playing Wargame EE, on mission 4, and am having problems as I really do not know what to do, which is why i look here for tips and tricks. I really don't want to skip games and try Red Dragon next.
I have played the campaign but for some reason it is very glitchy. I have lost about 6 hours worth of progress for some reason. Also the campaign is pretty good because it is different every time. I think the AI learns from its mistakes and exploits them whenever possibe.
"Raptor versus the computer! I thought we're aganist the North Koreans, oh boy now thinks they're a computer you're in a tough one" North Koreans just got roasted
I know how to pronounce the "Climb Mount Narodnaya" only because of COH series. It's kind of funny trying to hear him say it, it's hard for me and I've heard it hundreds of times. I've tried to learn Russian many times. It's very difficult.
I got annihilated by the time turn 4 came up. By then i couldn't do anything about it until i managed to take the middle section again and later the left sector. But I was far behind the areas where you have to take before turn 10.
I probably would be dead had this happened nor ever went on to live in the US and Europe. Fascinating.... Finally got the game. Have absolutely no idea what I am doing.
Raptor:: Thank you just the video i wanted to see, wanted to see someone at gameplay B4 me jumping into it. This is what had me confused the Board Game part 5:18 , But with a little Light being Shed i can understand it more, Thanks again👍🏼 I'm very Excited🤪😬🤔, i have no tips, tricks, all i played, is (World of Warships)(War Thunder)(world of tanks) had to give up world of tanks, just get thrown into battle with players that have skilled out crews, and like at times 3-4 Tiers higher then you...So wanted try something different, not just first-person shooter games, i have this game well bought on FEB/16/2019, and today is FEB/19/2019, and i haven't played it, cuz i know nothing of it, but you have given me a better idea of what needs be done, and i highly Appreciated, i don't criticize people, if the video did have the info i need i just move on, and keep mouth shut.I'm just really glad i found this video, like B4 setting up the soldiers, as i said wanted to know the deal on the Board Game like thing in the start of the game, and what's the deal on that, now i know, back to the game, and i will let others know that if you need good info i will link this video to that person.
Why and how do all of the troop transports suddenly move back after unloading? I tried to watch it frame by frame I don't understand what triggered this mass retreat! O_O
All I can think of is that he must have double clicked one transport to select all transports then clicked the bottom of screen to move them all to the rear. He selected all units at the beginning then hit Unload to unload them, I know that much.
did they fuck the ai up?! the ai in my game does not do that, i mean attacks on different places. it only rushes towards me on the road, towards the closest objectiv in one huge blobb with all the cheap units they got... literally it sometimes is almost 100 units in that blobb... there are only 2 ways to stop the ai, to try and bomb them with aircraft and to just hope they dont split up or using airborne units only. and i mean NO other units or they will go after them. and it doesent matter if the ai ''can see'' them or not, they will go in a direct line towards that unit which is not airborne. airborne supply and commanders are ok tho, but the ai will chase the commander from one edge of the map to the other... line of sight doesent matter. so, basicly: 1. you bomb them until you manage to wipe enough of them out or if that is not possible 2. to be completely airborne and snipe armor that way.
Can't you reinforce the outlying areas with troops from Busan from the start? Also, the napalm tanks are really great for defending the bridge at To Uichang.
Of course, however I had no idea how intense the North Korean attacks would be. Thus, Busan needed to be defended with everything I started with there.
ICBMRaptor2 Just remember who you're fighting and the premise of the campaign - You can't beat the Norks by letting them fight their kind of battle. If your defense on the outer regions is too weak they'll break through them, and the losses you'd take in the underprotected regions would mean there won't be much left to defend Busan. Based on what the map says I doubt they can bypass anything to get to Busan, so I'd try to maximise troop presence on all 3 fronts. In your position I'd try to win on the other two fronts as well in this turn, and try to minimise losses in battle. It looks like they're using classical commie zerg rush strats. To beat them you'll have to break their momentum.
ICBMRaptor2 Thinking about getting the game, and joining the Rappack again in some battles, but not sure..was decent at Airland but the addition of the naval element makes it seem even more confusing lol -Panchovilla
Just got WGRD in the last few weeks, finally have some time to play it. My only complaint about War Games games is that the tutorials are absolutely terrible, there is zero reason to have them be that poorly done. I'm sure they've really turned a lot of players off to the game because they can't figure out how to do anything. TH-cam's been an excellent resource for learning tricks and short cuts for doing things. Best advice I can offer - watch Little Tingods gameplay tutorial, it's a longer video, but it's incredibly useful to new players. Thanks for posting :) subscribed/liked
What the hell I'm new to this series so I deployed force exactly as yours, but my infantry got wiped out by the north's long range tanks. Any suggestions for the n00b? :(
C P i can do some. My tactic is that i bait the tanks into urban combat and ambush them. If possible, only use the houses at the inside, not at the outside. Then they cant shot your infantry that easy. But as always. More u play more u learn.
It was not easy for me to finish the campaign...it took me 5 defeats to figure out i was not landing and i was losing cause of it...5 more defeats to win after knowing what to do with the landing craft because i was leaving bosun with skeleton units to reinforce the front lines around it. ..60 wins 10 defeats 83.3% Winrate final score Only two major mistakes can make you fail the campaign learn from my mistakes 1 . Do not leave bosun unprotected !! 2. Use disembark option on the right bottom of the screen after selecting the landing craft..took me a while to find that one out... use landing craft to take Seoul or you will lose
Just tried this the first time without reading any of the tutorials. I was like "whatever, I'll learn as I go". Started the battle with only one APC. 😨
how is it your first battle was super easy? 2900 total enemy force value?!?! every time i play this, and ive lost the campaign over 30 times, it starts me off at a minimum of 8000 enemy force values and i usually win the first battle or so, but just get worn down so much i cant hold.
First wargame and OMG i suck(getting better sorta) i to play total war and this is such a nice change. Loving this game and enjoying you video since i have to retrain the way i play rts games
Well, it is the 'tutorial' campaign so they take it easy and force you into certain battles to ease you into the fray. But, through the series you can tell I had a lot to learn and by the end I start to get a hold of things. Prepare to be frustrated at me. :D
Oh no worries. I hardly could get myself through the tutorial missions in WAB and so hardly played it. I picked up WRD because I thought the active pause (that turned out to be actually slow-mo) would make things easier on my slow brains but it didn't help much so far :p
Why is my refit command always grayed out? Even if I have initiative for those units, no enemies in the zone and enough political points to afford it, I CANNOT refit any units except for the US units in Seoul. The battles in the South of gradually been becoming more and more impossible as my K1's slowly die off, as well as all my recon units. I fucking quit until I can figure this out.
you can only refit in zones with airbases, which is why you really have to take care of your units and have to fight harder if you pull out groups to refit
+Ren Felizardo I realized that A. What you said is true, and B. the unit to refit has to move to the base 1 turn, refit the next turn, and finally get back to action on the 3rd. if they are engaged while sitting there they cannot refit.
Here korean watchig your clip. 전쟁이 안날꺼라고 하더니... Its hard to translate but meanig is 'I believed theres no more war,but..' 시동걸어! 'Roll out!' I wrote some words. There is some funny voices not usual korean voice. Like voice actors try to make clear sound, but real accent is broken. But I'm pleasure It's better than another games. But This mission map is bull shit. In first place, Sea of japan, suck. That name is leftover of militerism of japan empire started from 1904. In second place, I wonder why JeonRaDo(left part) is empty place. If there is any dirty political minds, this game must be worst. Some right mind korean distort the fact of Democracy movements started from GwangJu(big city of JeonRaDo) as commited attack of socialists from north korea, but it is wrong mind educated by dictator's hegemony. You should know why college students did and later whole citizens participate this not to disunderstand korean democracy history. I'm sorry this reply is too long and non game area. I'll keep watchig yours gl hf :)
raptor try not to waste commands on areas that give no points and are just deployment points in the back of the map it starts to happen a lot also I beat the same first mission and only lost a RCL

It was not easy for me to finish the campaign...it took me 5 defeats to figure out i was not landing and i was losing cause of it...5 more defeats to win after knowing what to do with the landing craft because i was leaving bosun with skeleton units to reinforce the front lines around it. ..60 wins 10 defeats 83.3%
Winrate final score
Only two major mistakes can make you fail the campaign learn from my mistakes
1 . Do not leave bosun unprotected !!
2. Use disembark option on the right bottom of the screen after selecting the landing craft..took me a while to find that one out... use landing craft to take Seoul or you will lose
How in his first battle the enemy has 870 but in mine the enemy has over 1000
Just tried this the first time without reading any of the tutorials. I was like "whatever, I'll learn as I go".
Started the battle with only one APC. 😨
COY is company
how is it your first battle was super easy? 2900 total enemy force value?!?! every time i play this, and ive lost the campaign over 30 times, it starts me off at a minimum of 8000 enemy force values and i usually win the first battle or so, but just get worn down so much i cant hold.
game keeps crashing when i try to play this mission
just got this game kept losing vid has given me ideas
Why can't I add you as my friend? When I type in your username a different guy pops up
When I play this match the enemy transports just swarm bravo and their MGs just perma stun my entrenched infantry
why japan is there?
URSS ? :D
MrGong55 Yeah I read it just now and I was like.. Lolololol
Eugen is French, and URSS means Union des républiques socialistes soviétiques.
Bro my troops are not working at all they are just getting plowed over
First wargame and OMG i suck(getting better sorta) i to play total war and this is such a nice change. Loving this game and enjoying you video since i have to retrain the way i play rts games
God bless
More!
narodnaya would be "nah-rod-nah-yah", more or less.
Interestingly "narodnaya" actually means "people". So why the hell would you name a mountain "Mount People"? Seems a little weird.
What the? Sea of japan? This mean is dokdo is japan's? What the fucking game dokdo is korea's
i am from the south korean
I'm from the hungary
I am from the your mom
Why did you assume there was nothing you could on first turn?
Because it was the first time playing the solo campaign, this campaign, and this mission?
Uh ok. That was a honest question. Maybe WAB had such restrictions or something. Nevermind then.
I picked up WRD because I thought the active pause (that turned out to be actually slow-mo) would make things easier on my slow brains but it didn't help much so far :p
man how do you change aspect of camera seriously?
hold down the middle mouse button and move your mouse left/right
why do they have so much more morale in my game?
I hate you Raptor. Not even moving in the initial reinforcements and still doing fairly well.
much h8
god how much i suck at this game.... i came here to learn how to beat the FIRST mission, i copied.... and i got pwned.
nice :|
Why is my refit command always grayed out? Even if I have initiative for those units, no enemies in the zone and enough political points to afford it, I CANNOT refit any units except for the US units in Seoul. The battles in the South of gradually been becoming more and more impossible as my K1's slowly die off, as well as all my recon units. I fucking quit until I can figure this out.
you can only refit in zones with airbases, which is why you really have to take care of your units and have to fight harder if you pull out groups to refit
+Ren Felizardo I realized that A. What you said is true, and B. the unit to refit has to move to the base 1 turn, refit the next turn, and finally get back to action on the 3rd. if they are engaged while sitting there they cannot refit.
are u korean??
Does he look like it?
Here korean watchig your clip.
전쟁이 안날꺼라고 하더니...
Its hard to translate but meanig is
'I believed theres no more war,but..'
시동걸어!
'Roll out!'
I wrote some words.
Alternate History.
banzai!
감사합니다
I grab a bunch of yebigun and they get smashed by a buttload of vts
I’m so bad at this game....
Failing to understand why everyone who posts on TH-cam about this game feels the need to READ ALL THE TEXT in their video??
raptor try not to waste commands on areas that give no points and are just deployment points in the back of the map it starts to happen a lot also I beat the same first mission and only lost a RCL
Is there just a WarGame or is this the first one?
there are several wargames, this is the most recent one.
