I keep watching because I’m a fan of the bands you make videos on but you personally, with your gossip as well as just half baked analysis that sounds like a twitter feed of internet teenager females rather than having any connection to the spirit of the band members that make this kind of music.
Fuck what Vinnie said ........he's dead and gone,,,,,,,Phil and rex was just as much a part of the band as he was,,,,,,,,they can do what they want.......celebrate the music and keep it alive for future generations
I saw Pantera 5 times back in the day. My 16 year old daughter is a huge Pantera fan and I took her to see them in Pittsburgh this past summer. It was outstanding and she cried during the Planet caravan tribute. I’m so grateful that Phil and Rex did this so my daughter could experience it.
interesting, they did the tribute to Floods here in Melbourne last night. It was very emotional. there was a lot of younger fans there too seeing Pantera for the first time. It was obviously nothing like seeing them back in the 90s (I saw them in 94 and 96 as a teenager), but this is giving younger kids a chance to enjoy the music the brothers helped create.
And that’s how I feel. It was good for all the young people that never got to see Pantera to get Al least part of the Pantera experience. Pantera really was an incredible band. I saw this tour and Charlie and Zakk did a fine job. Rock on!!
Young bro, it would've blown your mind. Darryl was so damn good. They were a beast. But you're getting to see Phil and Rex pay homage to him and Vin while seeing the great Zak Wylde and Charlie tear it up. Hats off, my man.
Same! I went last year and couldn't believe my dream came true to finally see Pantera and Phil live! I thought I would never be able to experience it, thus it makes me even happier. After all, Pantera is my absolute favourite metal band! Of course, I understand it's not exactly the same without the Abbot brothers but this was nevertheless an amazing experience since I do love Phil's singing and Pantera songs as a whole! I have already bought a ticket to a show next year and can't wait!
I actually see this as a legit tribute, at least Dimebag and Vinnie were friends with Charlie and Zach. it’s great to see Zach actually put dedication and effort into performing dime bag Darrell’s guitar solos. he is really good, and I can tell they both care about the Abbott brothers.
Zakk is the W O R S T. He couldn't be bothered to learn the riffs, not to mention the solos. And let's not forget that if Vinnie wanted to do a reunion/tribute show he would've done it while he was alive. Everytime he was asked about it in interviews he said that it's never going to happen. I'm happy that the young generations get to hear these songs live, but this felt wrong since the beginning.
@@sutoneru-sama9836But Zakk has learned the riffs and solos the best way he can. He has been doing his homework by watching Ola's and Attila's videos. And he is putting his touch and feel in these songs as well when on stage so take it or leave it.
@@SledgeHammer99 I agree on this to, and I personally only thing this should be done for Dimebag. At the end of the day Vinnie was a self centered bag for thinking Phil actually had anything to do with his brothers murder. If someone tells someone else to jump off a bridge they aint gonna do it. Only idiots can actually think that and if they do still believe that they just need to go to hell rn and leave cause they have brain damage. Vinnie made phils life so much worse then it already was by not talking to him.
Nobody can speak for Dime not even Rita. He was devoted to Vin so much that he turned down joining Megadeth before Pantera made it because Dave couldn't take Vin also, so I'd say based on that he would always stick with his bro & have the same opinion as Vin.
I was trying to think of a better way of saying it. Vinnie Paul was so hurt, and it’s sad really because Dime would’ve let bygones be bygones, forgave and forgot.
At the end of the day this is Rex and Phil's music too. That is something that seems to get left out of the conversation all too often. If they want to go out and play it by all means go out and play it. Celebrate it. If the brothers were still around who knows they could have mended fences these things tend to happen with time and age.
@@maniac541 Meh. It's all speculative... personally I am not a big fan of Pantera. I do enjoy a lot of their music...it's instrumental tracks for me. Phil gets on my nerves very quickly... as a guitar player I understand why people are upset. At the end of the day once again this was their music too ...whether they were original members or not they help make that band what it was. Tricky divisive subject for sure.
I'm glad you brought this point up. Dime and Vinnie were a HUGE part of the band, but they weren't the ONLY part of the band. They all contributed to the music, this is especially true for Rex. I read his book (which every true Pantera fan should read) and Rex was there from the very beginning, before Pantera was even a thing yet. He even lived with the Abbotts for a while growing up and very much was considered a part of the family. Sure, they did go through a few different singers before Phil, but Rex was there through all of it (even those awkward "glam" years that they tried to completely bury). Yes, the core of the songs did come from what Dime and Vinnie would come up with while they were jamming, and Pantera never would have happened without them, but then Phil and Rex would fill in the rest. I think Phil wrote most of the lyrics and came up with most of the vocal melodies too. And regardless of that, it was definitely that pure attitude and aggression that Phil had that helped Pantera become THE Pantera we all know and love. If it wasn't for him, they might still be an obscure, 80s style rock band in Texas. Or Dime would be playing guitar for Megadeth (or would have until Dave Mustain kicked him out like he did with all the other Megadeth guitarists LOL). Rex and Phil have both went on to do other things, but the Pantera stuff they created will never leave them. As someone who has been in a few different bands myself there are definitely songs from my former bands I still love to play live , and some that I can't really do because those former member aren't around or able anymore. One band in particular I was "just the singer" (I usually either play guitar AND sing, or just play guitar). Even though all I really did was write the words, name nost of the songs, and sing them, if a couple guys who weren't in the band knew those songs I'd love to sing them for people again. It wouldn't be the same without all the original guys, but it would at least "something".
Ya I think the older special rednecks fail to realized Pantera never blew up till they had a vocalist, their old bass player and vocalist were absolute trash. At the end of the day Rex all the way screw everyone else. W
I think Phil and the guys have done an amazing job navigating this whole thing. Using the Pantera name but still emphasising the tribute/celebration aspect. They have nailed it. These songs deserve to be celebrated live, and this is hands down the best way it can still happen. I saw Pantera in 2001 and will see them again next year in Australia. Long live Dime and Vinnie, and the Pantera legacy 🤟
That's what makes them LEGEND!🤘🏻 I admire seeing Zak ...playing the Absolute best that He possibly can! He Honors with authentic & respectful playing ....without making it about himself! The Man is Literally .. offering himself to Pantera Fans!! And where I "hail from" ......? That is LEGENDARY!!! 🤘🏻 ROCK STEADY 🤘🏻
Vinnie’s issue was that HE couldn’t play Pantera songs without his brother. He literally couldn’t Pantera without Dimebag Darrell. If Dimebag was on the outside looking in I believe he is one of the first ones at a show rocking out with Vinnie
I loved it when they opened for Metallica in East Rutherford New Jersey. All the visuals they had on the monitors were absolutely awesome. It was such a celebration of life it and it meant so much to so many people!!
Man I had all the cds, vhs home vids, shirts, posters, Downs first album, anything Phil did or liked, Crowbars first album, even after the breakup but when Dime got killed I quit listening to metal comp. I dk something def changed. It was years before I could listen to them again. Still get teary eyed watching old interviews w/ Dime! lol Like I knew any of them.. it felt that way though.
Starting a 4:54 is exactly what my comment was going to be, it was never PHILS band, he was a hired gun. He has no right to even pay tribute because he broke up the band. No one else but him, go back to the story, and everyone in the Pantera CAMP that was left said, he wouldn't answer the phone, he just ignored everyone, did another Down and Superjoint record, but made no time for them. And Phil also stated "Man I'D Kill those guys, and they need a severe beating". Drugs or not drugs (drugs of course) he said it, and what happened was because of him. He didn't pull the trigger, but he could have prevented it from being pulled, IF he would have done his job. We all know this. I lost all respect for Phil 20 years ago, and I intend for it to stay that way. He's doing it for money, nothing more nothing less. Thank You.
He could have prevented the trigger from being pulled? That’s not fair, the shooter was a deranged lunatic who blamed Dime for the breakup and obsessed over it. He would post crazy comments, kinda like yours obsessing over Phil being the reason for the split. Wait, are you ok? Should Phil be worried?
I have been a hardcore Pantera fan for sometime, however, I never got to see them live. I was born in 1994 and was too young for the shows. My wife and I saw their show in Austin this year and were right in the front. For someone like me who never got to see the band as it was, that show was good enough for us. Seeing Dime’s guitars in person, seeing Rita and Grady by the monitors and hearing the songs with the effort they all put in will forever bring me joy. It’s not Pantera but it’s FOR Pantera.
Don't mean to sound ugly, but you're not a hardcore Pantera fan. You never saw the original Pantera, live and then again. You were born in 94. You were just a youngster when they were around. Because that's not Pantera u saw it was a tribute band and u didn't see Phil act like a racist but I think management told him to cut his shot because he started acting right in concert
Amen brother , that's what it's about. For the younger generation that didn't get to see them. Glad you enjoyed it , you'll never forget it . ..my first concert was in 2000 , and I got to see the real deal twice in the same year. And I haven't been to a concert till this day that comes close to comparing. And I've been to a shit ton of shows.. that Pantera concert is forever stained in my mind 🤘🏼
@@salinasarmando66Phil was drunk and made a joke, you snowflakes literally can’t stop thinking about it 😂 same people who clap when a black musician puts up their fist and screams black power
Back in the day I would go to see PANTERA every time they played in Dallas Texas and that was a lot. I was not able to go to see the tribute show. But my son that was raised on PANTERA's music but never got to see them went and took his 7 year old son to see them when they played the Arlington Texas show. DIMEBAG and Vinny were the heart and soul of Pantera. But I think it is a good thing that the younger generation gets experience PANTERA music live.
Having seen this show live it's apparent that each night is done with love and honor for Dime and Vinny. It's also clear what a better place Phil is in mentally. The respect and love he has for Pantera and their fans is obvious. I have no doubts that if Dime and Vinnie were still with us we would be seeing them on that stage alongside Phil and Rex. Sadly we will never have that. I can say I had the time of my life taking my son to see them this past July at the same venue and almost the same seats I had seen Pantera for the first time 29 years earlier.
I agree, at least Charlie and Zach were friends with Vinnie and darrell. I like how Zack actually is putting effort and dedication into performing all of Darrell‘s guitar solos.
remains t be seen. but it is half the band of that era, and whatever anyone's feelings are about the material or this version or that. they also went to number one in US on every album with sammy. so there is legit history there.
A little late for Phil's remorse. He's just trying to get a little glimmer of the light he once bask in. It's just a cash grab now. And zakk isn't putting any effort and dedication into this. He's up there just acting like zakk shaking his head back and forth playing half the shit wrong with his hand out waiting for a check.
@@cliffordclaussen2321 perhaps. but he's not really a disciple at heart of Dime. He's older. He's like a decade min to 2 decades older in base influence. But agree, not about the cash grab, he doesn't need the money. I feel it's genuine, but i also feel there are people better tailored to the job. I would have say Ola honestly. He's the gen that was inspired in that peak time of youth where that was your sht. And they're could be no doubt. But these are literal close friends, brothers, older brothers, of the band. And it also seems that a large swath of the fan base welcome it. But i do agree, Zakk is adequate for this gig, but there has to be many others well more "dimed" in on the content. Signed never really a fan of this band or even Dime. Perfectly awesome, But there were people that we're" better" imo, "opinion" that should have dominated that space. But, hey man, at least someone did. I would say... not for me in particular, because i never swayed metal period, but Pantera definitely succeeded in keeping the vibe alive for the masses in a time in a time where the tides were changing.
Such a unforgettable show I remember leaving drenched in sweat and my throat killing from screaming the words I hope they continue to tour and remember the brothers
I was hesitant but saw them at louder and bought tickets for Lexington KY coming up.. they did an amazing job and it was everything it should have been. It honored the Abbots without any attempt at replacing them. I’m thankful it’s happening.
Vinnie already stated he was against Pantera ever playing again because of Phil and his actions and the loss of his brother Darrell.Darrell also stated he would be against playing with Phil again before he passed.
It's a tribute...and I'm all for it. No one will ever re-create what the Abbotts did in Pantera, but I think it's cool that four guys are getting together and giving Vinnie and Dime love. I may never be able to see the true line up ever, but I appreciate the fact that 'the boys' are being celebrated.
They just recorded a new Pantera live album at First Ave (small club - 1,500 capacity) in Minneapolis a week ago (August 15, 2024). I’m 40yo, and a life long fan of Pantera. And, for the past 20 years, I’ve been so bummed that I never got to see them live. Well, I was fortunate enough to attend the show, and holy shit, it was definitely top 3 experiences of my entire life! 🤘😖
Saw them at Sofi and they sounded amazing. Pantera was the first concert I went to when I was in high school back in 1999 or 2000 and it changed me forever. I’m so happy I got to see them again.
I went to see them at Darien Lake NY on 8/9/23. I've been a fan since 1992 and am still legitimately bummed about the loss of both Dime and Vince. I totally get what they are saying about the difference between a reunion and a tribute. I have to say, the vibe at the show I was at was ALL tribute. Dime and Vince pictured on Charlie's bass drums, the video montage that played while Planet Caravan was performed on stage. It was incredibly moving. I saw or felt no sense of the continuance or moving on for Pantera as a band. Vince was right, there can never be a Pantera reunion. But what Phil, Rex, Charlie, and Zak are doing now is pure and heartfelt. The same feeling we fans have about the band and the Abbot brothers who are still sorely missed. I love what they are doing and will see them again if they keep touring and come through my area again next year.
I really hope they do at least 1 more round of these shows. I got to see the original band in 1994, to this day it was the best show I've ever seen. I haven't got to see them on the celebration tour, & still hope I'll have a chance to do so. Even if they would do a run of these shoes every few years, you are bringing Pantera to fans new & old. And it is a celebration, not a reunion. I once heard Vinnie say in an interview that he had hundreds of hours of unreleased material. I'D love to see a tour where they play some stuff the brothers helped write, but never put out. COWBOYS FROM HELL FOREVER!!!!
people who go thru the type of shit Pantera went through in the late 90's/early 00's generally wind up not being friends for a while but as they get older, they re-kindle those friendships. i know this from experience. i do not think that these shows are some sort of cash-grab. i think it is more like "hey; we've grown up a lot and we want Pantera fans who have never seen us live to have a chance to see us perform these songs live." probably especially for the younger crowd. i think it's great. and i've been a Pantera fan since Cowboys From Hell.
I completly agree that this is a celebration of the legacy of Pantera. I'm a life long fan of Pantera fan. I remember back in the mid 2000's thinking "I wish Vinnie Paul, Rex, and Phil got together with Zak and tour playing Pantera", but this formation of Pantera is still just as badass, and I think that Phil, and Rex still have it after not playing these songs after all these years. I just hope I can see them live before they stop touring.
I did at Rocklahoma, it was incredible! I’ve seen the original Pantera 10 times in my life, no lie! I think this is what it truly is a celebration/ tribute… made cry to see them in video 💔
We’re playing these shows, regardless of your opinion!! And are very honored to have 2 other brothers stepping in, as Vinnie & Dime aren’t living any longer!! These shows are about the songs, the brother’s lasting memory & Life man… RB’24
From the two or three shows I've listened to on TH-cam, you guys sound horrible. Phil's voice is shot, and Zakk's playing is horrible. Pantera cover bands sound much better. Shameful but hey, at least you are getting paid, right?
I was at the SLC Pantera show & it was AWESOME!! I didn’t get to see Pantera with Dime & Vinnie, but I truly feel that this is a great celebration of what Pantera was. Dime & Vinnie are everywhere, which is how it should be. The video montages are phenomenal. Zakk & Charlie do a phenomenal job paying homage to “The Brothers!” I hope to catch another show in the upcoming year. PANTERA!!🤘🤘
I saw the show on 9/12/23 in Alpharetta, GA and it was one of the best shows I've seen in the past 15-20 years (who knows how many concerts in that time) and I was almost brought to tears 3x. I will go again as many times as I can. To me, they are the greatest that's ever been, but please, no new music. It won't be the same.
I went. It is undoubtedly a celebration. That said, I can’t imagine Vinnie approving. I’m glad his estate gave a blessing (of sorts). Overall, regardless of who’s right or wrong, it’s obvious that Phil has done a lot of soul searching and contemplating of his time with them and cares/regrets his condition and state of mind back then. I’m glad I went. I’m more happy that I saw them in 1992 on the Vulgar tour with Skid Row.
As a #1 fan of Pantera since birth I have to say vinnie would be pissed and honestly dime would have known that about his brother and respected his wishes. Awesome to see the name out there again but just not the same understanding the bands personal history with each hother
Yea man. Vinnie may have gone to his grave having a bunch of resentment toward Phil. Regardless of wether or not he would have approved of this tho…it would be hard to believe that he didn’t get some kind of satisfaction from it if he knew that that was the result of it all. As someone who was just a liiiiiittle too young to have seen the original line up…. I know I appreciate it. 🤘🏼
I saw Pantera a few days ago at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. I loved hearing the music live - I'd never seen them when Dime was alive. They played & recorded a show at First Avenue in Minneapolis the night before & I wish I had known and seen them at that much smaller venue. Regardless I think Phil loved the Abbotts. One little aside: I was born 4 months after Dimebag, and he died on my birthday December 8 (as did John Lennon).
I had the pleasure of seeing them on the M72 tour earlier this month and it was fantastic 🤘🏼 Not to throw shade on the original lineup at all, but Phil was in such rough shape the last time I saw them at OzzFest ‘99, that the recent experience was far more enjoyable 🤷🏻♂️
Bro at Rocklahoma this year was the first time I witnessed Pantera! It was so freaking awesome I never got to see the original Pantera but just witnessed the celebration of both Dime and Vinny that day was something I'll never forget 🤘🙏🤘
Saw original Pantera back in the day, took my 14 year old son to see them recently and the band, crowd and all around atmosphere were amazing.phil sounded great and was great to see him healthy and zakk was amazing as usual.dont care about the controversy my son and his generation get to discover panterà music live.
If you really think about it, the current pantera setup is very respectful to the Vince and Dime. And I think the fact that both Vince and Dime were very unselfish people, they were givers, then they would love seeing the impact of the songs on todays crowds. that was one thing that pantera always agreed on back in the day - that the fans come first. Phil is upholding that well. most of all Dime and Vince loved Zack and Charlie from way back.
The first Pantera show I saw back in 2001, Reinventing The Steel, was awesome. I'll never forget it. I saw the "celebration" show this year in August. Both in Albuquerque, I thought it was kool they kept what Pantera has carved into metal history alive by playing songs that meant something to so many. It was an honor to see and hear music that'll live on. But it also hurt, that the Abbott Brothers....were not there.
How could Vinnie have ever thought any different after what he saw happen to his own brother? I reckon its awesome and i cant wait to see them in Melbourne next year. Its been long enough that I believe both brothers would appreciate it now. Its another way of fulfilling their dream of Pantera living on as one of the powerhouses of metal.
I remember when they announced the tour I was skeptical on how good it would be but none the less I wasn’t going to miss it. They were absolutely fantastic and sounded great and I’m so glad I was able to see them even if it wasn’t with Vinnie and Dime at least I got the experience of jamming to Pantera live.
Vinnie already said in detail what he thinks of it if you do some research, I see where he’s coming from but theirs alot of us younger folk who never got to see them live and want to experience it and pay tribute to dime and Vinnies legacy!
I apsolutely looooooooove what they're allllllllllllllllllllll doing with Pantera I just wish I could see them!!! I missed my chance back in the day so r.i.p. Dimebag and Vinnie you will NEVER be forgotten 🤘🤘🤘🤘✌️🖤🤘🤘🤘
I went to the pantera celebration show in austin this past year and it was actually on august 20th, Dimes bday. They stopped the show, brought out shots on the stage and the whole place sang happy bday to dime. That was a heavy moment and im so glad i was there. They def kept the brothers alive in the show, so to speak. Im going to a meet and greet with them in Feb at the kansas city show. I cant f’n wait. Pantera for life suckas.
I have saw Pantera 12 times with the original line up. Then saw them in Arlington, TX with Metallica. It was SO weird, and emotional, because I knew both Vince and Dime very well. However, it was also a very beautiful, and nostalgic feeling as well. I think it’s important to bring these shows to all the fans of metal that never got to see the original Pantera play live.
It's just about enjoying the legacy. Surely it's not Pantera, but it's gotta feel good to get back on stage and play the awesome music they created with the help of some really respected metalists.
well.. its sad to say that there will never ever be a whole pantera band with the brothers and all 4 of em. but todays age.. groups try to continue with or without em. not to be disrespectful but to give us fans what we all crave for. this group being 2 originals with charlie and zack.. its like a super group playing our favorite tunes. im impressed with the recent times ive seen em. its the cloest we will ever get.
Agree!!!!! Dime and Vinnie would of loved it. I know Vinnie said he wouldn't after Dime died. But before he died he didn't want to because it was too painful. I bet if he was alive today if he wasn't ready eventually he would have
Pantera is legend.. I love every album that included Phil.. Every album had its sound and vibe to it and loved Power metal as well.. Always wonder what a post 2000 album would of sounded like if Dime didn’t go but they never ended up having an album that was bad which is a testament.. and to tribute hell yeah recording new material nah it would be a cop out.. CFH4life
4:49 Not only in Vinnie right....But even the fans know it. I saw Pantera 5 times back in the 90s (They were like candy for us) and i will tell u absolutely No one could replace either of the brothers. Now i could really care less about this Celebration tour, I wont be going. But ive been watching some of the videos and i do think its actually pretty cool for noobs that never had that privilege. But there's No need for a so called, New Album under this name. period, period.
If Dime didnt go out the way he did, in the position he stood with Phil at the time. I believe Vinny would have been for it. Dime seemed to be a very humble and caring dude. If he was alive i think that relationship could have been patched up.
Dime was great-a regular, normal person-and he wasn't hung up on himself. None of them were. He supported local music in the D/FW area, and he has bought me enough beer to float an aircraft carrier at our gigs. Once, He, Rex, and Vinnie were the only ones in the bar, lol. By them playing these gigs, the Abbot brothers live on, and thanks to Zakk and Charlie for doing this. If they want to carry on, and put out new music, I fully support that.
Be really careful what you say to people or about people...some things that get said are never forgiven or forgotten. Phil saying what he said in that magazine about Dime is the grudge VP held until his death. Even though Phil had massive, obvious remorse for his statements, VP just couldn't get passed that situation. It's too bad to, cause i think Dime would have forgiven Phil a long time ago. RIP Dime and VP... y'all are truly missed by metal fans worldwide.
Finally, I’m flipping through the comments looking for this. Where are all the real fans? All I see is stupid comments from idiots. This reunion would be great if it were prior to the Abbotts deaths. Otherwise is a tragedy he’s up on stage doing Pantera songs. Rex has a pass obviously, he got caught in the middle.
Dime is dead because of Phil, and Vin I believe committed suicide if you really think about it. The anniversary of Dimes passing was approaching and then he died suddenly. It’s absolutely heartbreaking, and I know the pain because I was by my own brothers side as he passed away. It’s gut wrenching.
Having seen Pantera in July for the first time ever in Bologna, Italy, it feels like a legit tribute to the brothers. On the other hand, though, Pantera fans that they continuously gatekeep saying "tHiS iS nOt PaNtErA" are the worst.
I agree with vinnie not being stoked but dimebag would have been, people also have to remember vinnie saw his brother shot to death on stage within the fallout of pantera. And from that moment showed permanent unwilling to forgive Phil and always somewhat indirectly blamed him for what happened to dime so why would he ever want to step on stage with no brother and two members in his eyes that ditched pantera to move on. No matter what side your on I think that’s an understandable stance. BUT I’m hindsight if vinnie could talk to us now I think he would be happy panteras legacy is living on and being passed to the next generation and generations to come :)
Vinnie said absolutely no Pantera without Dime till the day he died. I'm all for a tribute to Pantera but the current lineup is not Pantera. R.I.P to the brothers
I have seen the “legacy” show twice now and I have seen the original lineup 3 times. Honestly, it wasn’t a bad experience. Being able to see these songs live again was a lot of fun. BUT, it wasn’t the same experience (nor do I think that was the intention of these shows). For those that have seen the original lineup, there was just something about Dime hitting the high “squeal” and Vinnie just hammering the drums all night that when you left the show, you felt satisfied. I am not sure if that makes any sense, I would hope that it does to those of us that have seen both. lol. Being able to see the band with the Vinnie and Dime is something that will always be special in my heart. But I would still go see another legacy show if given the chance.
While Vinnie was here on Earth he was understandably haunted by what happened to Dime and everything that led up to that moment....Including all the stuff that happened with Phil and it seemed pretty clear that he never really got over that. It's true what he said when he stated that a Pantera reunion would never be possible after Dime's untimely departure, but I also think his stance was rooted in him never wanting to play with Phil again specifically (I could be wrong about that but i'd wager that i'm right). With that alone, that pretty much ensured that they would never do any sort of a tribute style thing as long as Vinnie was alive. I felt terrible for Vinnie that he had to live with the pain of that horrible night. He was an absolute beast for hopping back on the kit with Hell Yeah and I had/have nothing but respect for him. How he felt about any of it was obviously his right to feel. THAT BEING SAID, I DO believe that Dime would have approved of this and with Vinnie being reunited with his brother in the next life...I feel like Vinnie would finally be on board with the idea with Dime saying "It's all good brother! Look at our metal brothers and sisters enjoying the music that we created!" This is all speculation, and that's all it will ever be with anyone's opinion on the matter, but imo I think the Abbott Bros would rep this amazing tribute to the music they created and the enjoyment the fans are receiving from the experience.
I saw them. 10/10. It was a holy experience. Panera has always been one of my favorite bands, and to finally see them live was incredible. Zak and Charlie really do it justice.
As someone who had the pleasure of seeing Pantera about a dozen times in the 90's, I can tell you that it will never be the same as it was. At first I had a n issue with this tour to the extent that they were going out as Pantera, considering Vinnie Pauls statements. I think the bigger question is the motivation of Rex and Phil. If they are truly, in their hearts, doing this as a tribute to Vinnie and Dime, then so be it, if it's about money, then that's a sad perversion of the name and legacy. They are coming to my city early next year and I have debated on going to see them for nostalgia sakes, but at almost 50 years old, I am not sure that I can handle the crowds. Cheers.
I agree! I really don’t see a problem with creating new music with this lineup. It doesn’t take away from the Abbott Bros’ legacy and contributions, but let’s not forget two of the band members are still alive. How many bands in history have continued to make new music with lineup changes when members (even lead singers) have passed away, quit or got fired, etc.? It’s happened with tons of bands in a variety of genres. I actually would to see new Pantera music brought to life with this line. It would be horrible to let a band and the potential to create new songs die when two of the members (including the lead vocalist) are still alive and kicking. This entire “it’s a tribute thing” makes sense right now being that it’s their first run, but I think this lineup has proven that it has the chops and ability to BE the band and not just a representation of it. I’m fine with them being Pantera and fully support new music. I love the Abbott Bros and what they did, but there’s no reason they can’t respectfully be honored and remembered while letting Pantera and its surviving two members live on with a new lineup like countless other bands have in music history.
Everybody knows if Vinnie were still alive, this would NOT be happening. I'm really happy for all the youngsters that would otherwise never get to see Pantera songs performed in a major concert setting like this, but please believe what you're seeing is Great Value Pantera.
Wanted to take a second to thank all the returning viewers that watch regularly. You are much appreciated! 🤘🔥❤️
Thank you...... I know where to get all my content related to the music world!!! You work hard!
🙌
Right back at you, bro. You’re my go to for news in the music realm.
You deserve all this dude
I keep watching because I’m a fan of the bands you make videos on but you personally, with your gossip as well as just half baked analysis that sounds like a twitter feed of internet teenager females rather than having any connection to the spirit of the band members that make this kind of music.
I think its safe to say Vinny would be pissed. He was extremely clear on how he felt about a reunion and Phil.
Exactly, they're all ignoring that he made it clear.
I agree totally. Vinnie Paul was totally against it.
I said basically the same thing. Vinnie made it crystal clear on his feelings about a reunion.
Fuck what Vinnie said ........he's dead and gone,,,,,,,Phil and rex was just as much a part of the band as he was,,,,,,,,they can do what they want.......celebrate the music and keep it alive for future generations
Vinnie died a bitter man.
Dude that is so awesome! I wish my daughter was in to metal. Lord knows I've tried since she was still in the womb to no avail. Oh well😔
interesting, they did the tribute to Floods here in Melbourne last night.
Rock on!!
As a younger fan, it was really special for me to see the tribute show because I was too young to go to concerts when they were still a band.
Young bro, it would've blown your mind. Darryl was so damn good. They were a beast. But you're getting to see Phil and Rex pay homage to him and Vin while seeing the great Zak Wylde and Charlie tear it up. Hats off, my man.
@@jerm2011 Yeah. seeing Zakk and Charlie play was a treat, Man!
But they hated phil and rex.
@@krisu101 leave it, definitely. Everytime I hear Zakk butchering these songs I have to play the show from LA in 92 to cleanse my palate
@Slipknotsic66 yep, definitely, no one will ever replace dime bag and Vinnie
I fully love they are doing this. Pantera was phenomenal back in the day. This is a great respect to the legacy.
Vinnie no, Dime hell yeah. Seen these guys live this summer and it was simply incredible. One of the best days of my life.
What are you talking about?
@@jamiesexton1786 read the title of the video bud
@@Diggerdog2nd you hit the nail on the head right there. 💯 percent correct.
I don't think Vinnie would've liked it, dime probably would've
I agree 🤘
I was trying to think of a better way of saying it. Vinnie Paul was so hurt, and it’s sad really because Dime would’ve let bygones be bygones, forgave and forgot.
Vinnie would be cool once he saw his brother was cool with it.
Correct if there is after life who knows but I agree on you dime would be pump
Exactly my thought. Had Dime not died the way he did and Vince blaming Phil, it he may have liked it and joined.
At the end of the day this is Rex and Phil's music too. That is something that seems to get left out of the conversation all too often. If they want to go out and play it by all means go out and play it. Celebrate it.
If the brothers were still around who knows they could have mended fences these things tend to happen with time and age.
Vinnie was never going to go along with this. Also the Abbott Brothers were the only original members of the band.
@@maniac541I’d have to take a look at the setlist, but I don’t recall them playing any of the hits from Metal Magic when I saw them.
They must have made real good money.
If your in Brisbane than I,ll be there with you
@@chrispearson8959 I'm in Melbourne mate, can't wait
SOOOOOO thankful I saw them 6 times back in the day! There will NEVER be another band like Pantera again!! ❤😥
Never be another 💯 . 6 time's is awesome🤘. Only seen pantera a couple of times in Florida. Where did you see pantera play ? Just curious 👍
That's what makes them LEGEND!🤘🏻
I admire seeing Zak ...playing the Absolute best that He possibly can!
He Honors with authentic & respectful playing ....without making it about himself!

And where I "hail from" ......?
That is LEGENDARY!!!
🤘🏻 ROCK STEADY 🤘🏻
Luckyyyyyy
I saw em 5 during the mid 90s 😃
Lol there are a lot of bands that are better. The version you love today is a cover band. Grow up
Vinnie’s issue was that HE couldn’t play Pantera songs without his brother. He literally couldn’t Pantera without Dimebag Darrell. If Dimebag was on the outside looking in I believe he is one of the first ones at a show rocking out with Vinnie
No Vinnoes problem was that he felt it would tarnish there legacy, hence why even he didn't want to carry on the panteraa name into damageplan
I loved it when they opened for Metallica in East Rutherford New Jersey. All the visuals they had on the monitors were absolutely awesome. It was such a celebration of life it and it meant so much to so many people!!
I was there! So amazing.
Did a video at that show on the channel.

I took my teenage son to see them this year. Even if Vin and Dime aren't there, they're still reaching a new generation of fans
This actually is a legit tribute and I believe Phil has remorse about how things went down as opposed to what Hagar is trying to do…
Cashing pay checks.
Pantera without Dime & Vinnie is like Van Halen without Eddie
It’s not right. I don’t care how great it sounds.
“Dimebag deserves to be beaten severely.” -Phil Anselmo
So glad I got to see them in 1998. Morbid Angel,Scrape,Static X, Slayer & Pantera. What a line up
Skrape was awesome, go check out Billy keeton's newest band audiotopsy
Saw them at Sofi and they sounded amazing. Pantera was the first concert I went to when I was in high school back in 1999 or 2000 and it changed me forever. I’m so happy I got to see them again.
When hungry for the latest music news, I reach for my Rock Feed🤘🏼
If Vinnie was alive this wouldn't happen but this a tribute pure and simple. Im all for it.
Vinnie was very, VERY clear about how he wouldn’t allow it.
Yet his estate is all for the celebration of the legacy per this video.
@@sassydoe9407 His estate is NOT him. Reading is hard for you. Vinnie, VINNIE made it clear.
We’re playing these shows, regardless of your opinion!! And are very honored to have 2 other brothers stepping in, as Vinnie & Dime aren’t living any longer!! These shows are about the songs, the brother’s lasting memory & Life man… RB’24
So you don't care how your fans feel. Such a disgrace to use the name when you and Phil left the band.
At first i felt weird about it until i took my 4 yr old son to see them in san diego, and he loved the show, keeping pantera alive man 🔥🤘🔥
I feel the attendance son the shows says it all. Thanks for the video.
If they come back, I would love to see them again. There was never a bigger inspiration in my life than Dimebag Darrell Abbott.
The tours bring the music and the Brothers to a new generation of young metal heads so I'm for it.
There is no Pantera without Dimebag and Vinnie.
I saw them this summer. I enjoyed the show a lot. Never saw the original Pantera, so I cannot compare.
Can someone PLEASE tell Zakk to tune his guitar to the correct pitch? It drives me nuts that all the songs sound "off"
He's downtuned because Phil can't do the same vocals and pitch that he used to
I had the pleasure of seeing them on the M72 tour earlier this month and it was fantastic 🤘🏼 Not to throw shade on the original lineup at all, but Phil was in such rough shape the last time I saw them at OzzFest ‘99, that the recent experience was far more enjoyable 🤷🏻♂️
If Vinnie and Dime were still alive there wouldn't be a Pantera reunion. Plain and simple.
I can’t wait to see Pantera kick ass at Madison Square Garden in February. I’m excited.
I saw them at ford field amazing show and I do really appreciate how they’ve handled everything and the tribute to the abbot brothers was amazing
Vinnie already said in detail what he thinks of it if you do some research, I see where he’s coming from but theirs alot of us younger folk who never got to see them live and want to experience it and pay tribute to dime and Vinnies legacy!

There is no Pantera without Dimebag simple as that. Dude was definitely the heart and sole of the band. Definitely the shepherd of his flock.
Fukken Ace! Vinnie and Dime spirit lives on. Great music deserves to be played.

It's great man it's love for the fans lobe for the band and love for dime and Vin man
Seen them in ATL recently and they was so bad ass. I’m going again in February to see them in Tampa with my 15 year old son.
You rock bud.. Always classy news..
Vinnie made his opinion on this very clear before he died, that’s why Phil waited for him to die to start the “reunion”
💯 percent correct
Will be 4 times in February for me and it's fuckin amazing ! One of the best LIVE Bands in the world rite NOW!! PERIOD🔥🔥
Having seen Pantera in July for the first time ever in Bologna, Italy, it feels like a legit tribute to the brothers. On the other hand, though, Pantera fans that they continuously gatekeep saying "tHiS iS nOt PaNtErA" are the worst.
They both have passed and I’m pretty sure they are looking down happy that their legacy is living on.
I bet after about 5 minutes Vin would love it!!!!
I saw the show last summer in Camden NJ and it was a blast
Call it An homage to the fallen. If some proceeds go to the family..then Hell Yeah
Rip Boys
I feel what there doing is a celebration. It's keeping the name alive, and paying homage to Dime and Vinnie.
SEEN THEM 3X BACK IN THE DAY!!
I saw them. 10/10. It was a holy experience. Panera has always been one of my favorite bands, and to finally see them live was incredible. Zak and Charlie really do it justice.
I've always hated Panera, it's just a lame place to eat. Like a discount lame stupid Starbucks.
Pantera is great tho.
@@mac24seven You're missing out bro. They got a pretty sweet turkey pesto and Mac n' Cheese bread bowl.
Cheers.
Saw Pantera and Metallica in st louis , very awesome.
I wish whoever would stop calling it a reunion. Its a tribute.
If they made new music I would love it!
Seen them at ford field with Metallica and the smashed it! Got tickets for the February 20th show at van andle in 2024! Let's go!
It doesn’t matter what they say I know if Vince is watching he has to be smiling and you know dime is running around loving this shit
This is way better than what Static X is doing
Everybody knows if Vinnie were still alive, this would NOT be happening.
I'm really happy for all the youngsters that would otherwise never get to see Pantera songs performed in a major concert setting like this, but please believe what you're seeing is Great Value Pantera.
