I love how in Zack's rig he has a ton of his heads but still has one Marshall head. I'm willing to bet good money that the Marshall is the one that's mic'd and you hear. Lol.
@@Ottophil Not saying that at all brother. I just found it weird that he had one vintage Marshall amongst 3 of his own heads. I have a hard time believing that Marshall is a backup. If he's going to make amps he should at least be able to make one better or as good as the Marshall he is copying. Even if he has a custom-made one that is better than the ones he is selling to the public. I just found it to be an extremely telling sight. Even if he is using the Marshall for sure why would you allow that to be seen in a Rig Rundown?? It would have been very easy to just pull it out of the shot and replace it with one of his own. Baffling. And for me, I won't buy one of his heads knowing he doesn't even totally rely upon them. I think he knows his personal Gibsons and Marshall amps are superior to his products. We are talking about a guy that could easily have custom-made amps and no one would know the difference as long as the outside still looked like his amp. Makes me think that his guitars are a custom-made version. Ones that are much superior to the ones the public can buy. And that's fine. I'm sure most artist models are built that way for the actual player. Especially players that are using Epiphones signatures live.
Amazing guitar! EMG's are good, but I really wish Zakk would give passive pickups a try, maybe even a dimebucker in his dimebolt warhammer. Would really bring the Pantera tone & sound dynamics to _A New Level_ .
@@captainkirk70 Agreed. Constructively criticizing here, I hope Zakk see's this. I get wanting to use your own gear, but the guitar sound in the tribute just seems out of place. He uses his own amps which are a clone of the JCM800, a warm tube rock amp which needs a lot of help to get in metal territory. He uses is ZW Overdrive to make up for that. It gets close, but not near enough. You can hear it especially when he tries to get the Dime squeals and harmonics in, they don't ring out. Then, add in the compression from active EMG pickups and you get this "soup" of sound that seems quite off-putting for a PanterA tone. Boost the mids and highs a bit more too. Zakk is already using some of Dime's actual gear like the Flanger Doubler and an Aphex (two staples of the Dime tone), in the effects loop. If he would just change up the front end by passive pickups and imho, one of Dimes solid state amps. Using a RG100ES or a Century 200 would complete the tone. Zakk has the chops, it's a shame to not hear the sound come out like it could.
