ikr i am young and have raced at cheltnam and aintree and lots of others in pony racing it is amazing we hit very close to the speeds that the horses hit (horses 40mph) (ponies top speed 35mph) its an amazing thrill especially when you win.!
Hi guys, my sister retired Super Duty (she trained with him at McCains). He was sadly put to sleep December 27, 2022. He was much loved in our family ❤
Grew up with horses, been riding my whole life. Love thoroughbreds, and... this footage is amazing, terrifying, and interesting all at once. The ears of Many Clouds are calm and relaxed. As if he’s thinking to himself while running. The horses that fall left and right are a tragedy. None of the glory of racing can justify the breakdowns, accidents, injuries and fatalities of those who don’t make it. Those are irreconcilable contradictions that are impossible to sort out. Many Clouds is a big, bold horse that gave his life to carry his rider all the way. All of them are athletic machines, wondrous creatures. Beautiful. But this race is not fair to them. I love racing, but this race is too much.
Poor Super Duty, that footage just reminds me of the last race in Seabiscuit. They just kept falling farther and farther behind before George pulled back for them.
To someone who loves NH Racing & could never do this ever. A massive thank you to Leighton Aspull for wearing headlamp and letting us enjoy the ride. As regards Many Clouds...thank you, thank you, thank you. RIP you magnificent beast x
Love these Jockeycams...old Tranquil Sea needs about 5 miles to get going these days but he ran on really well to finish not too far away & Super Duty, case of jockey going on too long, jock should've pulled him up much sooner, he was just getting further & further behind...
My late brother, a winner of several jockey premierships in flat racing had several bad falls and finished his career with a limp. He once told me that he thought going over the jumps was an insanely dangerous way for a jockey to make a living. After watching the jockey's view of this Grand National , I can see what he meant. I hope those jumps jockeys are paid danger money.
Oddly, the race seems less chaotic from this angle! The Druid's Nephew's fall looks even more innocuous on this---just going too fast and almost hurdled the fence
It does appear that way, and luckily Balthazar King was the only one 'badly' injured in the race this year, and even then he survived. His injuries weren't immediately due to jumping, he got knocked down by Ballycasey, I think.
I always dreamt of doing just this. As a 6ft 3inch human it aight gonna happen. Thanks to Leighton, Oliver & Mr Hemmings for making it all seem real with Helen cam. Wow
I remember the BBC put a mic on Graham Thorner in a National in the early seventies in the hope of playing it back on a later rerun. They were doubly disappointed to see him only get to the first open ditch and then, on playing the tape back, could only hear him repeatedly saying F**k F**K F**K from the moment they started the race until he fell at which point the recording went something like "umphhhhhh................................................F**K" Needless to say the Beeb did not repeat the experiment.
Pushing a horse to It's fastest pace, and then expecting it to jump is pushing them far over their limit. And it gets worse if you think about how over half of these horses are treated. I have never liked racing, and never will. Before you decide to reply to my comment, search up the damage of racing, please. Also look it up on youtube, real footage of racing. Thank you.
+David Kent I agree as a spectator it isn't great for pure entertainment purposes, but in terms of giving us a view into the world of the jockey while he's riding I think it's amazing. Certainly wouldn't want to watch the race from that perspective (it would be dire!) but as a post-race analytical tool I find it fascinating.
they are only allowed to whip them like 3 times. if they do it more they get a penalty. They often look like they are hitting them but they're just showing them the whip. When they are shouting it is to encourage the horse
Brilliant footage....
What a thrill ride, I've dreamt of riding this course since I was a child! To be with the winner at the end is wonderful. :)
Same

love these Jockey cam videos, Fair play Leighton!
Super duty is still missing to this day. He was last seen at 6:06 jumping a hurdle at Aintree he will be loved forever
did he retire
Super Duty only had two more races after this but he’s still alive and living a nice retirement I believe

Nice comment, thanks
Racing killed many clouds. Just as racing kills many other horses.
Oh and Thank you again Many Clouds! lol
Poor Super Duty, that footage just reminds me of the last race in Seabiscuit. They just kept falling farther and farther behind before George pulled back for them.
This is amazing!
Ohhh, I my legs hurt, I rode that with them! Brilliant footage
I didn't realise they (you) rode those beauties at such speed. Bravo!!
Geweldig! Dat was het gevoel van augustus 1969 op Duindigt op Enusa
What a fantastic experience. Only a minority of jockeys could ever experience the thrill of the National.
RIP Many Clouds.
Fascinating watching a jockeys perspective, would be better if a box in the corner broadcast the normal view so you can get your bearings.
yes i agree with the box idea i race aswell its amazing i love it

I was going for many clouds when I started watching this video.. I picked the winner!!!!
Respect to Them all !
how the hell can you respect such horrible people?

I was curious so I looked up the basic riding fee for a Grand National jockey. It is only £169.

Im not tall but im 18 stone unfortunately.
there are lots of 6ft to 6.3ft jockeys out there.
I love that wooh at 5:06
Enjoyed this gives a perceptive on the race and the decisions the jockeys take. I do think Many Clouds will win again this year.
+John Avery hahahahaha
5:04 lol listen to him X)

Impressionnant ♥️🇫🇷♥️ n oubliez jamais notre NEPTUNE COLLONGES 🇫🇷 .la fierté de notre pays 🇫🇷 qui vit chez vous 🇬🇧🇬🇧 .💞💞💞
no wonder technology is bringing steeplechase closer to home than ever before
I rode in that felt real with the virtual
GOD SAVE THE HORSES, they are amazing!!
They don't seem to use crops now, which isn't a bad thing.
Sadly they still use crops.
@@danielledewitt1 I race, and some horses do need the crop, to keep them focused, just like the horse that i rode yesterday needed it.
@@macauley-hq9xe You evil horse abuser. STOP IT!
Some ride!

Horse racing is animal abuse. Oh look now the jockey is screaming down many clouds’s ears and battering him.
踏み切ってぇ、ジャンプ!
LOL I didn't think i'd 'ride' multiple horses :D
where is woolacott ha ha
I'm a jockey
ITZ reeceyboy123 Messi no your not
As I've said on another sight, I really hate the jockey cam. It's like trying to watch The Blair Witch Project movie.

the only thing I don't like about racing is when they shout and scream and whip there horses when they are going there max speed
The shouting and screaming is better than whipping
they are only allowed to whip them like 3 times. if they do it more they get a penalty. They often look like they are hitting them but they're just showing them the whip. When they are shouting it is to encourage the horse
shit happens....
