Rat 3 Knife Scale Repair

I've had a very nice Ontario Knife Company Rat 3 that a friend gave me, but the scales are held on with shoulder bolts that have stripped and won't hold. this makes the knife useless.
This video is my attempt to fix it using some rivets I got at the Smokey Mountain Knife Works.

At 15:10 you got to the solution I was going to suggest. Those are micarta handles, which I assume you can sand down but I'm not sure. Maybe you could use a hydraulic press to press those rivets down? One of your friends probably has one you could use.

Yeah. I think the micarta could be sanded but it actually works great to have them a little proud of the surface. And so far holding up to some pretty extreme abuse.
