I think the first major Marvel crossover was FF Annual #3. Other than the FF it had about 26 heroes and 28 villains. Virtually the entire roster of Marvel characters at the time it was published in 1965.
It probably depends a little on just how you want to define "the first," but I think what I've been learning these past couple months is that almost no matter how you slice it... it wasn't really secret wars.
