I was on holiday in Sterling, Scotland. The cottage we were in was in the middle of nowhere. I remember the second night I realised how clear the sky was and I could see the milky way. Its the first time in my 33 years I had seen it and it absolutely blew my mind. It gave me a sense of feeling so small. Like a tiny drop in a massive alpine lake. I am planning a camping trip later this year at a high elevation. I would love to actually get a picture of it. If it is possible to capture it on a smart phone, can someone recommend me some tips please?
I live in Chicago, I really want to do this. I love it, i have thousands of stars pic on my phone also hanging couple of awesome pics on the wall. One day I’ll get the chance to experience it 😬
Soooo, my wife and I are visiting Big Bend this weekend and I was delegated as her official "P.I.P" (Professional Iphone Photographer) I was wondering what filter you would recommend to get a shot like these? Thinking Portrait Mode may not be a good idea due to lack of lighting. Any recommendations or input would be great. Or maybe I can use my Samsung Galaxy Note 5 as well...Thoughts?
We sent your question to our Texas Parks and Wildlife Magazine photographer, who replied: "It is not a matter of a filter. The images you refer to were created using a DSLR camera and tripod which are needed to capture the long exposure times (typically 15 seconds to one minute) and high ISO ratings in order to gather enough light from the night sky. Sadly, the mobile devices you have do not have that capability. This might be a good opportunity to invest in and entry-level DSLR or mirrorless camers." I’ll like to go here. But is a 12 hour drive from Houston. So I’m going to Pontotoc, Texas. It’s dark enough to see the Milky Way and only a 4 hour drive.
