My dad gave me his 6105-8119 that his dad bought him for his birthday in 1974. My dad used it for diving and it's rough but works. I plan to get it serviced so I can wear it. I doubt it's ever been opened up.
That is a totally cool vintage Seiko. Thank you for sharing it with us. I am starting to lean toward vintage for my next watch purchase...but there is so much to learn. Thank you for another excellent video Bruce :)
Wow! An amazing piece! I love how the chapter ring and bezel look like now. Damn, this watch is a vintage masterpiece! Thank you Bruce for reviewing it.
I don’t understand some of the comments saying the watch is “trashed” or “a mess”. It’s in very nice condition. Most of these vintage watches were bought and used for there intended purpose, diving! Scrapes and dings are par for the course.
Thanks Mike, and Bruce. Good to point out the originality points on all these vintage Seiko's due to all the redials, etc. We need more of that please.
Bruce Williams- I know you're not trying to talk me out of a Grand Seiko...😉. I called the guy at Timeless, he was very nice and offers generous financing. Sbgr251... Should I pull the trigger?
Nice example of a vintage 6105-8009. The size is just about perfect. I didn’t realize these were smaller than turtles. I gotta say I like the crystal, coin edge bezel, dial, and size of this watch more than the turtle. Great review! I’ll have to start hunting for one and then have it evaluated by Spencer Klein.
Great video. The thing about vintages watches for me is the life it lived before I got it. Who owned it? He got up and put it on before work, worked all day in whatever his job was, came home and maybe spent time with his family, maybe played a sport or maybe went to another job. When I see beat up watches it makes me really wonder about the life it lived. The more beat up, the more I like it. Someone used it a lot and made a lot of memories with it, only to let it go at some point for whatever reason, and now I have it. How will i treat it? I usually leave them alone to respect its former life.
Nice one Bruce. I’ve had the vintage Seiko bug for a while now, and own a couple of 8110’s in great condition. Keep an eye out for the SLA033 this year at Basel...I believe it will be an LE reissue of the 8110. Granted it will probably be 25mm thick and $5000, but if it’s anything like the original it might see me further deplete the savings. Cheers mate.
A beloved brand that goes 'SMALL' but in a big way? That's Seiko. With the recent release of the new Seiko Prospex Automatic Diver 200m SPB313J1, SPB315J1 & SPB317J1 watches with each watch just being 12.3mm thick, we see this re-edition go small by being Seiko's thinnest Prospex watches to date, but we also see the bigger picture. This is yet another re-edition of one of the legendary divers in the SEIKO collection and having seen quite a few re-editions, we would be lying if we say there hasn't been a connection between them.
You know your probably spot on, and the sad thing is it would be as great as the original. It would probably be too tall, possible alignment issues, and a big prospex logo somewhere :(
Love those olds Seiko divers the lugs appear flatter and more sharper than the current turtle. I love my 777 but wish it were in the dimensions of this 6105 it would be perfect at those measurements .
Love the 6105,. Would love to buy one but it's so hard to know when to actually pull the trigger cause there are so so many frankenstein 6105's watches out there.
Beautiful vintage Seiko diver, 👍 review, just curious to know small detail if you can reply. My first automatic Seiko 5 with 7s36 which I bought one year back is not been worn by me from almost 8 months. Usually I used my gshock as a daily beater. I'm concern about if my Seiko is kept ideal for me this long, will loose in accuracy of time keeping or it's fine to used it on special occasions. I heard from somewhere if automatic watches are not worn regularly then they tend to lose it's timekeeping. By the way I'm from India Mumbai & here Seiko market is not that great, so regulating will be next to impossible. Hope you reply for my query. Thanks
Bruce, can you or your friend Mike recommend places to repair old Seikos like this. I’ve got an old Speedtimer that needs repairs and a new bracelet to fit my 7.5” wrist. Any direction you can provide would be truly appreciated. Thanks!
vinay nagdev you can date the 6105 by looking at the first two digits of the serial number. The first is the last digit of the year and the second is the for the month. I didn’t Time the accuracy of this one but it appeared to keep time just as well as my modern pieces. I would suggest regular servicing every 5 or so years
Very nice video, enjoyed it, But watch itself.... not what i personally would wear. Many others will like it and this is perfectly fine, to to each his own.
Good example, but not 100% original. The Minute and Hour hands should be flat , not with edges/bevelled. Not to take anything away from it, but more of FYI.

What an absolute gem of a timepiece. Lovely, lovely watch!

I just bought a couple vintage Seikos and I'm enjoying them more than the modern ones now
Search Retangular online, they recreate this watch well, I own one

Its not original condition the watch is trashed...it looks like its been hobbled together with assorted parts
Great vid. So glad you have not lost your Seiko enthusiasm even after buying the Rolex. Cheers.
Thanks Mike, and Bruce. Good to point out the originality points on all these vintage Seiko's due to all the redials, etc. We need more of that please.
Gotta love that it’s still keeping time even though it has tons of character!😉 would love to see this watch made again. Awesome video Bruce!
I would love that too, thanks!
I looks like it was recovered from a shipwreck😂. Even though it's trashed, it is a testament to the build quality of Seiko. Interesting stuff.
They just don't make them quite like they used too
Bruce Williams- I know you're not trying to talk me out of a Grand Seiko...😉. I called the guy at Timeless, he was very nice and offers generous financing. Sbgr251... Should I pull the trigger?
hanknova7771 yeah if it’s a good
Price do it!
Bruce Williams - What would you say is a good price? As in, if this watch is $3600 retail, are Grand Seiko's prices very negotiable?
hanknova7771 yes they should be negotiable. Most brands offer at least 10 percent off retail
Bruce, love the introductions, very cool.
Don Rogan thanks Don!

Spencer is the best man
I'm lucky enough to have both of the 6105 models, both in good original condition.
Love to know how someone could give this a thumbs down? Your vids are getting incrementally better and better.
Michael I can usually count on about 10 sour apples per video haha
You are only going to get more the better you get. :)
Awwwwesomeee as always bruce👍🏼👍🏼
Beautiful...
Love the video Bruce!

Just bought this exact watch. Love the slim case so much. It's absolutely insane that Seiko hasn't reissued this version. Maybe next year??

Spot on haha

Why have Seiko not re released this watch?? Respects from South Africa. Rdunae Retangular make a great homage of this model, I own one
Stunner!
Thanks brother
Cool Piece Bruce! I’m with you on the 8110 , prefer the case design and overall look
Very cool. Seiko should make them like they used to.. Expect a limited edition reissue for $3k 😜
You know your probably spot on, and the sad thing is it would be as great as the original. It would probably be too tall, possible alignment issues, and a big prospex logo somewhere :(
No, expect a limited edition reissue closer to 5k lol.
Pibbles 'n Bits $5k for thé SLA033 ;)

This is very true
What a killer watch...

I would wear it from time to time so you prevent the lubricating oils from congealing

Patrick Naswell I have a local watchmaker I would trust. Or Spencer Klein in Colorado. He specializes in Seiko and does a fantastic job
Bruce Williams thanks Bruce! Much appreciated. I will look into Spencer.
Cant wait for this to come out as a limited edition 😂😂😂
cool watch, but i love trap too, where i can buy this trap ?

Hi, Bruce I do have a 2 6105-8119 original complete box and manual strap band vintage. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks John
Hey John, send me some pictures- watchbw@gmail.com
Awesome video! Prices for it have just gone insane, even one with moisture damage and with after market parts are for sale at over $1000 👎👎
Interesting vintage Seiko vid....
But boy that one is really broken in!!
haha its not that bad!
Thanks for the prompt reply, really appreciate it...
I test it 50feet in the water and no problems. Thanks
I got a 6139-7100 it needs a strap. Can I send it in?
Get an Uncle Seiko H link for it. I just got one for my 6139 :)
Is that an Uncle Seiko Tropic strap?
Yes it is
Have you checked the lume? Does it still radiate a bit?
Ever so faintly
Very nice video, enjoyed it, But watch itself.... not what i personally would wear. Many others will like it and this is perfectly fine, to to each his own.
Carmen 👍🏼
I have a captain willard
how is a watch like this fun :D
Its the design, history, and execution that makes it exciting

It's a mess....
