I was raised in a conservative Christian family and had very strict Sabbath Day rules on Sunday. I had to wear a dress all day and we weren't allowed to go outside to play. Now I love hiking on Sunday afternoons after church, and I agree that it is a very spiritual experience, often more spiritual than actual church 🤭
Hi, love this! I am so curious about how you mentioned you switched to wearing skirts only for a time. Did you play with the idea of orthodoxy or is this just something that some conservative women think is important too?
May i know if what kind of jewish are you? Im confused about all jews because the way they dress. I only know hassidic on how they dress and orthodox because of their hats. Im curious about jewish who are just wearing a normal modern clothing
I’ve wanted to be Jewish for so many years!! I even went as far to find out my ancestry by dna to find out if I’m Jewish by blood and I was highly disappointed bc it turned out I’m not. Unfortunately I do not have a way to convert to Judaism because there aren’t synagogues around here unless I drive some hours which I can’t do (long story). So I just admire Judaism and keep hopeful for one day to be able to convert. Thanks for sharing so much on your life and religion:)
It doesn't sound as if you know what you really want right now Ashley. You're offering excuses when nobody asked for them and it seems as if you're trying to convince yourself why you can't. It has nothing to do with taking DNA tests or admiration. I know people who did most of their Jewish learning online and only had to go to the synagogue at the end. If it's right for you, you can start that journey. I doesn't seem like you want that right now though.
@@m.j.c.6969 online classes are extremely expensive as I have looked into them recently. I appreciate your message but please don’t assume I don’t know what I want nor assume I’m making excuses.
@@Wafflesprinkles I'm not assuming anything. You post in public. If you don't want people responding, don't post in the first place. Nobody knows who you are and you claim to want to convert and bring up DNA for some reason then offer unsolicited excuses as to why it's just impossible for you. I know SEVERAL people who converted online through a synagogue for FREE!!!!!! I'm guessing this is how you conduct yourself in other aspects of life: explain how something is holding you back instead of taking action. I think we both know this, don't we? You can convert remotely for free but I am sure you'll offer up yet another excuse as to why you can't. Either convert or don't but don't go looking for a pity party for yourself.
Definitely going to make that happen one day! You are so lucky to live there! What's the number one hike there would you say? (Not too strenuous though!)
Oh, that's why I adore you :) I am converting to Conservative Judaism. I tried 5 years to become Orthodox but couldn't make it, it was always being postponed. There was always something wrong in me. On the 12th November I have my ceremony at the main Conservative synagogue in London.

The Sephardim do not seem to have the subgroups that the Ashkenazim do. I think because the Ashkenazim covered so maby different areas and cultures that they developed these subgroups. The Sephardim were joined in Spain and then most went yo MENA, the ones in South America might have different cultures than the MENA, in some observance.
Hi, thank you for your videos. I didn’t realize that there was still as much antisemitism in the world as you say. I suppose if you don’t live around unkind people you don’t see the way things really are in the world. Recently I moved into a large condominium complex and there is a large Jewish presence here. It’s nice because there are lots of different cultures here and I’ve learned a lot about Judaism.
Good evening I have a question, my mother is Jewish, so am I Jewish to. ? Cause I have lived my life as a catholic. Thank you, I need to get it right.. ✡️
Just be sure your mother's Jewish lineage can also be consistently traced back through her maternal ancestors. Basically, you would be an automatic Jew by birth, one hundred percent, even if you don't practice.
If your mother was Jewish when you were born then you are Jewish. If she converted after you were born then you would also need a conversion to be Jewish.
Know it's late, but I became a Christian in 2008(Jesus was Jewish)I love the Jewish tradition, and I live in Australia. (There's a lot of anti-Semitism everywhere, even in Sydney!)
My Jewish Mommy Life Bless you, you must be very busy... we’re waiting here in the UK for the Trump/Biden debate tonight..... mr trump is a friend to Israel and the UK
A few years ago you mentioned that your not jewish so I understood from that that your mom isn't Jewish, im very confused by your channel, is your mom a jew?
In my country if you have at least a Jewish grandfather you can go on birthright. That is also the criteria for making Aliah ( moving to Israel ) if it hasn't changed.
Alex, our (Conservative) Rabbi would not perform a wedding ceremony for an interfaith couple, but our congregation would welcome an interfaith couple into the community. By contrast, our Rabbi would marry me and my husband as a same-sex couple since we're both Jewish (and since we only had a civil marriage and not a religious one, I hope we can do that after Covid). In other words, not being Jewish does have an impact on what one can participate in as a member of a congregation. Non-Jews are certainly welcome but have limitations, just as a non-Catholic can't take communion in a Catholic church service.
Me again, with respect, what is "birthright"? And .. Is Messianic Judaism ... I don't understand that. Is it a real and most importantly, is it honorable before God? To edit: I vote Israel
Birthright is a trip that Jewish teenagers go on, it's just the name of the organization that sponsors it. I honestly don't know much about messianic Judaism.
@@MyJewishMommyLife Hi honey! Thanks so much for responding to me! I have you and your family penned in my prayer journal. I lift you all up daily. (Not schmoozing, I mean it) Yeah, I'm not understanding the concept of Messianic Judaism... however, I DO understand the concept of your AHHHMAZING latkah recipe! @@femqwho637 Messianic "Judaism" is basically a Christian movement. They believe in the Trinity which is considered idolatry for Jews who believe in one God alone! All denominations of Judaism reject Messianic "Judaism" as a form of Judaism.
@@MyJewishMommyLife it is Christianity with a Jewish style of worship. I know some people are “ethnic Jews” in the movement, but it is evangelical Protestant Christian in theology.
That's an interesting idea, for my understanding of our faith and history the Conservative movement is closest to the intention of the law and what feels right to me.
@@JavaOnBeens I'm speaking about the ancient Jewish practice of continuing to interpret and reinterpret Halachah, not to try to 'freeze' it in time. It's meant to grow and adapt with each generation.
@@JavaOnBeens I will add to that to say that the laws don't change, but times do, so we always have to figure out how to apply halacha to new situations. It's actually pretty amazing how timeless our concepts are and how they do apply so well to modern times.
Hiking is fine, you are not working. We are commanded to not buy or sell on the Sabbath. I to have been forced to shop on Shabbot only because that is when our ride would take us.
I’m Christian and I don’t spend money on the Sabbath. We go to church and spend time as a family. That’s it. It’s not that difficult if you plan things and don’t forget extra toilet paper
Do you belive Jesus is the son of God? Thank you for clearly educating on some jewish tradition and ritual that can understand when reading the bible.some women mostly young women need to see this with the volume turn down as how to mother and love mothering patience and endurance.
You were raised this way so I guess this is all you know but really the Torah isn't something you can observe according to your likes. Picking and choosing what you want to do is hilarious. Shabbos is sacred for the Jewish people only. Given by Hashem. Its really sad to see...
I understand you feel strongly about the words of Torah but in all of Jewish history it has always been a document that is interpreted by man. From the writings of the Talmud and the interpretations and rulings Rabbis give today. It was never a document that someone could read and take as a literal script for how to live life. Our ancestors had concubines and multiple wives in the Torah yet Jewish law forbids this now.
@@MyJewishMommyLife are you comparing yourself as man to interpret the laws according to your opinion. The Torah was given in 2 parts. The written. And the spoken. Thru the next few hundred years the spoken Torah was becoming forgotten so the sages of those times wrote it down. They all had ruach hakodesh. It was in the times of the holy temple. They were all on the spiritual level to be able to be mechaya hameisim. Are you seriously implying that they interpreted it to their own will or with gods divine guidance? They were able to converse with angels. Thats how holy they were. The rebbis who started the conservative and reform movements were nobodies. More like people who just like you chose to twist the Torah to accommodate modern times. It started when the world became more industrial and advanced. Its the new way of being jewish without actually Following the Torah. This is inexcusable. You were raised this way so you are considered a tinuk shenishba. Which a means a child that wasn't raised with better. Driving on shabbos and eating non kosher food and saying you are an observant jew is like being born a boy and deciding you are really a girl. You can fool half the world but you know the truth. It isn't politically correct to speak the truth but truth is not changeable.
@@MyJewishMommyLife another thing is that some things that were allowed to do they chazal stopped because the generations were becoming weaker for example multiple wives etc. The human pysche was not capable of that level anymore. But a direct law in the Torah was never allowed. Shabbos is a direct law from Hashem given only to the Jewish people. Even someone who converts has to be mechalal shabbos every week before they convert. A non jew is actually not allowed to observe the shabbos. Defying that is spitting on everything that Hashem gave us. This is a mitzva he still gifted us in the midbar the desert before we even were given the land of isreal. Eating kosher has specific laws and was also something that happened at Maton Torah. It says clearly that the people in the desert were busy separating the meat from the dairy dishes. Burning the ones they couldn't kasher. The kosher laws were divine from hashem and is clearly written in the Torah. This is not something that a rebbe interpreted. Thats so misleading because any rebbe can decide I am a rebbe let me change the Torah. No way. You had to be more. Much more. Its very sad to see how many jewish people aren't educated and are told and taught lies about the Torah to justify living according to how its comfortable for them.

Thank you so much! We are hoping and praying for more love acceptance and tolerance in thew new year!
Bless you vivien
Wow that was a quick response
It’s that time of day, Simon 😊
I also am sorry for you as a Jewish race for your extream suffering
Great video and great advice xx Cory looks like your husband and your other son looks like you xx
You'd look so cute in a tichel though!
I’m not yet at the life phase where your new book would be applicable to me, but I know the minute I get married I will want to buy it!
Lol that's the nicest thing to hear, thank you!!
This is a great video! It’s awesome to see that you have found a joyful path in Judaism.
Thanks!
Hey yes you should come to my country New Zealand!
Definitely going to make that happen one day! You are so lucky to live there! What's the number one hike there would you say? (Not too strenuous though!)
I think if you go to Israel, that would be a great idea to vlog it
I love that idea!!
Thanks for your videos!
Glad you like them!
Oh, that's why I adore you :) I am converting to Conservative Judaism. I tried 5 years to become Orthodox but couldn't make it, it was always being postponed. There was always something wrong in me. On the 12th November I have my ceremony at the main Conservative synagogue in London.
Wow!! Mazal tov!!! I’m sorry your journey has been such a long one but so glad you got there!
@@MyJewishMommyLife thanks!! It took a long time but I do not regret anything, it was such a transformative and deep spiritual experience! Thank you for sharing your personal journey and for your vlogs :)
Maria I’m so interested in your story - would you consider chatting with me about your experience? Been thinking about doing this for a number of years now and just reaching out to a local reform synagogue but would love to hear some one else’s experience
Yup, I feel you! I tried for 10 years. I’m done. No one is perfect, there is no Jew out there who is perfect, but yet, they demand perfection from converts. Not cool.
Aww your son is adorable
I never had help and had to do everything. I had to go to the store and drive myself to the store even to Lowe’s because the kids had it planned...
This was great! Also Corey looks so much like you.😍
Thank you so much!! Lol I think he does too!
Thanks for sharing!
You're so welcome!

You would love New Zealand
Thank you so much for this video. I have been practicing Judaism for 5 years. I am Sephardic, but don’t fall under any of those categories.
I would love to be a Reform Jewish mom lol but I would also need a supportive community! Anyone in the Colfax/Pullman WA area?
I’d love to see an Israel video with your often unique perspective.
I have one! th-cam.com/video/3DQk4vG0UMw/w-d-xo.html
Beautiful thoughts on Judiasm
Thank you kindly!
Good evening I have a question, my mother is Jewish, so am I Jewish to. ? Cause I have lived my life as a catholic. Thank you, I need to get it right.. ✡️
Yes you're Jewish if your mum is!
@@hadstein thank you 😊
Just be sure your mother's Jewish lineage can also be consistently traced back through her maternal ancestors. Basically, you would be an automatic Jew by birth, one hundred percent, even if you don't practice.
Yes. You are Jewish by Jewish law.
If your mother was Jewish when you were born then you are Jewish. If she converted after you were born then you would also need a conversion to be Jewish.
You're like my girl Marianne Williamson 😊
You should do an Israel blog. Like making Aliyah video blog!!
Know it's late, but I became a Christian in 2008(Jesus was Jewish)I love the Jewish tradition, and I live in Australia. (There's a lot of anti-Semitism everywhere, even in Sydney!)
Thank you! Yes it's true, it's heartbreaking.
I also love my in-laws.
Excuse my ignorance but what is birthright?
It's an organized teen tour to Israel that's subsidized so lots of young adults can take part.

A grosyn dank!

Bless you, you must be very busy... we’re waiting here in the UK for the Trump/Biden debate tonight..... mr trump is a friend to Israel and the UK
I love learning about Judaism ✡️ it’s very interesting
A few years ago you mentioned that your not jewish so I understood from that that your mom isn't Jewish, im very confused by your channel, is your mom a jew?
Are non Jews allowed on birthright?
I believe there are other trips that are for Jews and non Jews but I dont have the details. I've never done birthright so I'm not an expert!
In my country if you have at least a Jewish grandfather you can go on birthright. That is also the criteria for making Aliah ( moving to Israel ) if it hasn't changed.
You have to be Jewish, either converted or have some Jewish parent.
I would love in Israel videos!
What’s your opinion on Messianic Judaism and the Jews who converted?
jews who convert to messianic “judaism” or jews who are converts to judaism?
@John Quinn please explain?
Does the conservative movement allow intermarriage? Why or why not?
The Conservative movement is very committed to inclusion, you can read about it here: uscj.org/leadership/community-covenant
Yes! Israel! Do it!
Lol want to come with?!
Your title had me saying WHAT?!?
Lol just a little fun!
(Not schmoozing, I mean it)
Yeah, I'm not understanding the concept of Messianic Judaism... however, I DO understand the concept of your AHHHMAZING latkah recipe! Haven't had them in years... my grandmother Esther made them and ohhhhh what a treat!
Blessings sweet Sister
@@femqwho637 Messianic "Judaism" is basically a Christian movement. They believe in the Trinity which is considered idolatry for Jews who believe in one God alone! All denominations of Judaism reject Messianic "Judaism" as a form of Judaism.
@@MyJewishMommyLife it is Christianity with a Jewish style of worship. I know some people are “ethnic Jews” in the movement, but it is evangelical Protestant Christian in theology.
Most jews even secular jews are affiliated with ortodox . so why do you think extreme ? maybe conservative are extreme ?
That's an interesting idea, for my understanding of our faith and history the Conservative movement is closest to the intention of the law and what feels right to me.
@@MyJewishMommyLife Can i ask what law you referring to? and if it's a law its binding meaning - one can't do what ever he or she feels

Thank you so much!
It made me sad when I heard you say that there is a lot of antisemitism right now. Ugh. Breaks my heart :(
Thank you for the support!
That BLING!
Hiking is fine, you are not working. We are commanded to not buy or sell on the Sabbath. I to have been forced to shop on Shabbot only because that is when our ride would take us.
My husband and I prayed to not be forced to shop on the Sabbath. Our prayers were answered. We were able to get a car.
I’m Christian and I don’t spend money on the Sabbath. We go to church and spend time as a family. That’s it. It’s not that difficult if you plan things and don’t forget extra toilet paper
@@aspenenglish4976 I think it can be hard. You are blessed with things you take for granted. Like a car, public transport or shop near where you live.
OMG Yes Israel. Oh how I would love to go.
Omg my husband said all you do is brag and your so annoying he says lol wow that's big coming from my husband I haven't even seen the video yet Ha!!
😍😘😍😘😇😇
Orthodox don’t drive to the synagogue
why didn't you qualify for birthright? every Jew should be qualified
It is for the first time you go to Israel. It is to open them up to the country, the people and everything about Israel.
If you have family in Israel then you should go.
why would you not have birthright? strange.
I hope you don’t eat pork or shrimp or anything else not allowed. And you should try it to spend money on Sabbath.
That’s terrible
Do you belive Jesus is the son of God? Thank you for clearly educating on some jewish tradition and ritual that can understand when reading the bible.some women mostly young women need to see this with the volume turn down as how to mother and love mothering patience and endurance.
je&moi-meme * maybe they don’t believe he is the son of god but I don’t think they deny his existence?
Are you a trump supporter?
@@MyJewishMommyLife its great that you are proud to be jewish. But to be truly observant you need to follow the Torah laws.
