I was a Laker fan living in SA when this shot pierced the hearts of all Spurs fans that night, I reveled in glee. The Lakers dominated after that before losing to Pistons.
Naw its fishers time to shine on this clip. Kobe gets enough already but no one ever appreciates my favorite nba player ever! D FISH BABY THE TRUE 5 TIME CHAMP GOAT!! KOBE couldnt win any without fisher thats all im saying
I was 12 years old staying up late on the east coast to watch this game with my dad. I remember being so drawn into the moment and the end of the game was almost slow motion for me. I remember him catching and turning in one motion, the ball going through the net and Fisher running into the tunnel. Ever since then every once and awhile I search for Fishers .4 second game winner and watch it again like I’m 12 years old sitting in my basement... What a shot
Last night's Boston & Miami GM 6 2023 ECF brought me back 19 yrs to this tonight. DFish with the miracle game winner in this crazy series the Lakers clinched in GM 6 at Staples
I didn't know who was watching this game in my apartment complex until he made that shot. We all yelled in surprised unison. What a crazy 3 minutes of ball.
Let's think about this: Duncan and the Spurs were a Derek Fisher 0.4 shot and a Ray Allen miracle 3 from winning 6 and possibly 7 titles in 15 years. Additionally since Shaq left. Duncan has been to more finals and won more rings than Kobe. Yet clowns think Kobe is better than Timmy even though he takes 24 million a year from the Lakers and pretty much seals his fate for never winning a 6th ring. Meanwhile the Spurs take pay cuts in order to win more championships. Duncan>Shaq>LeBron>>>>>Kobe
And don't forget Dirk Nowitzki 3 point play against the Spurs in 06, when Manu fouled him when he shouldn't have to. The Spurs would have beaten the Suns in 6, and the Heat in 5, and would have won the championship that year. The five-peat was taken away from us.
Consider the fact that Duncan had stability throughout his entire career. One coach, one system. He's played with the same core year in and year out, only replacing role players. Kobe has played for 6 or 7 coaches, meaning 6 or 7 systems. If you don't think systems matter, look at Steve Nash's career. Kobe has done more with more to juggle. Pay cuts mean nothing. Clown.
Every shot made with less than a second that is not a single tap on the ball is total bullshit. The only way these shots are valid is because they don't start the clock as soon as the ball touches the player's hands. There's no way anyone can grab a ball, jump and release it in less than a second. Impossible. When they started the clock Fisher had already wasted like 2 seconds getting in position, lol. Even in this horrible 2 pixel video you can see it. Not until he's already in shooting motion the clock starts running.
it takes 0.37 before the ball go out of his hands....maybe close to 0,81 seconds to land right on the basket...the play is clean valid!...not like lakers but u know considering that game at the end just like shaq said after all (...one lucky shot deserves another"....
It really isn't impossible, but you are right that he didn't manage it quite in 0.4 seconds. However: (a) The clock started about 0.1 to 0.2 seconds after Fisher touched the ball-an entirely ordinary delay-and that *was* enough for him to get the ball off before the buzzer; and (b) Duncan's shot went through the bottom of the net with 0.7 to 0.8 seconds left-the clock should have stopped there, and Fisher's motion definitely did not take that much time, your 0.83 second measurement notwithstanding. One must be very careful to identify which frame shows Fisher touching the ball for the first time; this requires analysis of at least two angles. I did a frame-by-frame count, and posted it on my blog. It's about 0.55 seconds, give or take a few hundredths. (I think it's a few hundredths shorter, but I'm a Lakers fan, so I tack on a few hundredths of a second to correct for bias.) There's nowhere enough time resolution without the Phantom camera (not in use in this play) to get anything like the hundredth-of-a-second precision you claim. thenullhypodermic.blogspot.com/2009/06/infamous-fisher-04-shot.html
he could shoot under 0,4 seconds if he stood still looking at the basket and started shooting immediately after he got the ball. But he took a step, turned around and shot with a high release. No way that is even under 0,8 seconds... I might be wrong but commons sense tells me you can't do as many motions so quick. It doesn't even look that quick to be honest. The best way of testing it would be in a gym.. there you would see how impossible that motion is in such a short time if you try it yourself.
There's no need to speculate. Just look at the video analysis. As I said, he didn't get it off in 0.4 seconds; he got it off in about 0.5 to 0.55 seconds. He also should have had more than 0.55 seconds to do it in. It's in hard video evidence. No need for a gym. ETA: I play basketball, too. You can make the motion in half a second. Probably a pro could do it faster. He's not going through each of the motions sequentially.
JohnRambo7910 you should substract 0.4 seconds out of every second of your insignificant life since you dont think 0.4 seconds is alot. You fucking ant
I could not tell you where I was when the Lakers won the 3 championships prior to this that season... But boy the night I saw this magical display of basketball I was so excited I put a hole in the wall with my back I could not believe what I had just seen! It was simply amazing...
Man I remember this shot like it was yesterday, and boy did it hurt. Us die hard Spurs fans will never forget. Very devestating. But not for long, because the Lakers ended up getting killed in the Finals against Detroit, and the very next season, the Spurs won the title!!! GO SPURS GO!!!!!!!!
I remember watching this game at home and I got so hype when Fisher hit that shot. I got yelled at cause my mom was sleep and had to work in the morning lol.
This was the BEST geame ever against the Lakers & Spurs in the 2000s! As a Lakers fan I have much respect for the Spurs & their 4 titles from 99-07. Thats 1 thing the bulls in the 90s never had to worry about. From 99 to 2005 it was all Lakers & Spurs. You knew none of those 90s teams would beat the bulls in the playoffs. Thats why since 98, only the Lakers & Spurs have qon multiple titles.
GAHAHAHA FISHER I REMEMBER THIS FROM WHEN I WAS 10. The Spurs fans were celebrating prematurely, they already played victory music and everything. My dad was so happy when Fisher put them in their place.
I remember seeing duncan making that shot and being ticked so I went up stairs to bush my teeth. I came back down to get some water and when I did I saw the game was still on so I walked towards the TV. About half way to it, Fisher makes the shot and my tooth brush goes flying and I am screaming, "HE MADE, HE MADE IT!!!" With tooth paste flying out of my mouth. Those are the memories you will NEVER forget. BEAT OKC!!!
Since the 00-01 season the Spurs and the Lakers have accounted for 7 of the 11 finals wins. And if you want to go back to 98 it's been 9 of 13. That is dominance. This entire decade has been SA and LAL.
Maaaan...Fisher should've been with Lakers till the end. Its just not right without him. Almost more of a good Laker than anyone ever you know. A good DEPENDABLE man all around.
Duncan hits this crazy shot that puts the Spurs up by 1. We all thought it was over. I mean there was only 0.4 seconds left. What can you with 0.4 second? This. Fisher get the inbound. He releases right. Im spinning. I see Fish,I see the rim. Fish rim Fish rim Fishyrim. 2 points. The place goes Fuuuuuuuuuuuuu
@sportsfreakize i'm not a lakers fan, but stuff like that always happens in nba. They sometimes start the clock late and sometimes stop the clock late too. Like Tim Duncan's shot, the ball went in and through the net at around 0.5/0.6 but they managed to stop it at 0.4, which means that them starting the clock 0.1 seconds late didn't matter because the clock was suppose to be originally 0.5/0.6 seconds so that late second 0.1 plus 0.4 equals 0.5--> which was suppose to be the real time.
Even if you want to argue that Fisher couldn't have gotten it off in time, that's counterbalanced by the fact that Duncan traveled before dribbling on his shot. I'm a Celtics fan, too.
SOMETHING LIKE LAST NIGHTS 3 against the mavs! Except he left them with 3 seconds.. Fisher only clutch when he wants to be . But I gotta love em! GO LAKERS !
I miss these days man, Spurs vs Lakers games were lit
I remember going crazy when he hit that shot!
12 years later, still feels bad man.
wait which pixel is derek fisher?
What century are you from? I haven't heard that joke in 4 years

gotta love the epic early celebration by the spurs...then fisher drains a gw...good game from a decade ago
This is one of my favorite laker moments all time!!
8 years and two championships later, and this STILL hurts.
Don't celebrate until the clock displays 0:00!
You mama
Gregg Popovich was the only one who didn't celebrate. Smart man, he knew Kobe/Fisher were on the other side and he knew what they were capable of
I remember this game.. Amazing shot Fish!
Still one of the most incredible endings in NBA history. They left out Kobe Bryant's shot right before Tim Duncan's was incredible.

lucky shot vs lucky shot
Lakers were supposed to win the championships this season. They had kobe, shaq, payton, and malone. But that was a historical shot by Fisher.

They both have 5 rings sir and Kobe will go down in history as a better player than Duncan, whether he is or isn't.
Your argument failed when you tried to compare kobe and duncan. They are both pure greatness in their own fashion.
And don't forget Dirk Nowitzki 3 point play against the Spurs in 06, when Manu fouled him when he shouldn't have to. The Spurs would have beaten the Suns in 6, and the Heat in 5, and would have won the championship that year. The five-peat was taken away from us.

Ray Allen shoots the ball as fast as .6 seconds
And I think curry in .5 so it's possible . It's been tested look it up:)
i think you're a dumb ass thats all
I think u just hate the lakers
Incorrect. Sorry. It is very possible.
By rule you can catch and shoot with .3 or .4 left on the clock I cant remember. But .2 an .1 u need to tip it in.
Just take stopwatch in your hand and do 0,4 seconds... You will see how impossible it is. No way you can catch, turn around and shoot.
I tired to measure it in slow motion frame after frame and it took 0,83 seconds.
