  • Constitutional experts and “Strict Scrutiny” podcast co-hosts, Melissa Murray and Kate Shaw, join Jon Stewart to discuss Donald Trump’s “platinum due process plan” and the judicial system’s handling of the cases against Trump. The law professors also discuss the threat of Trump’s presidential immunity and whether the former president will ever stand trial for the Jan. 6th insurrection. #DailyShow #SCOTUS #JonStewart

      Believe it or not, as much as I do enjoy Jon Stewart, this format is unsettling as it makes it seem that the only way to have serious discussion is to package it as late night entertainment with a loud boisterous (and to me, irritating, except for the guy in the back who masturbates to Sears catalogs) audience.
      You know this has been going on for a long time, a major problem in our culture is the inability to separate entertainment from actual serious things. After all, the Weather Channel will put funny ads before you watch a tragic weather disaster video.
      If Jon Stewart, bless him, is the only reliable responder to what's going on, we're in trouble.

      It's the usual re-spinning of everything that recasts trump in the victim role where he sells the image to his cult as being their savior being persecuted for THEM.
      However, there was another purpose to this strategy. It kept him from having to take a position on executing political rivals. For 2 reasons.
      1, he'll do anything to keep from having to criticize his buddy Vlad, sooo... misdirection time!
      2, he is planning on doing the same sort of thing if he returns to power. First will be all the press that do not sing his praises. I hope Jon & the other late night hosts that have done such a great job keeping us informed have escape plans. I would.

      The comments on his latest videos are proof of that. People will somehow hear him criticizing the left and the right, then somehow start smashing their face into their keyboards to type out some long winded rant about “JON YOU’RE DESTROYING DEMOCRACY YOU’RE LITERALLY PUTTING TRUMP IN POWER BY CRITICIZING BIDEN.” They don’t want to hear the truth, and they don’t even want to hear his opinions. They just want to defend the political tribalism that has become a plague in modern day America.

    He won't accept, of course. Because it isn't about the money. It's about legacy. It's not about owning the bus, but driving it and seeing how far to the right he can steer the country in what time he's got left on this earth. He's waited his whole life for this moment. It's no longer the Roberts court. It's the Thomas court. I would comment on the LWT video, but apparently that won't be on TH-cam until Thursday according to new HBO policy.

    • @jamesmasters2386
      @jamesmasters2386 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      I think your probably correct. The counter point that I see is; (according to LWT) Clarence threatened to quit because of poor compensation in the past. Now, that might have been empty, like fishing for a compliment except he was fishing for a raise or a billionaire sponsor. If he was willing to leave the court because of public scrutiny and no money then, well, the scrutiny has been turnend up and there us money on the off ramp now. So I'd say there is a slim chance. I'd put it at about 10% chance he takes it. Its not 0.
      Then again, to hour point, accepting an off ramp from John O. may be to much of a pill for that troglodyte to swallow.

      Of course, going full left, filling your country with immigrants, while not having enough housing, police, or funding, while creating more deficit and promoting inflation in all avenues possible because of a population spike, is okay? How can you be so afraid of some fictional theory, when your country is being destroyed by mass over population, inflation, and a drug pandemic? it's not safe to be out in the streets of major cities anymore, and you're concerned over some theory that is actually not allowed to come to pass unless there is a vote? What happened to you people? did you really lose any sense of understanding? are you ignoring what's happening around you? or are you just at home, working from home, and ordering in all your life? Time to see the world for what it is.

    • @corvacopia
