It’s seems Ariana want to explore a more songwriter side of her instead the vocalist maybe because it’s already stablished she’s a powerful vocalist

i really really like the ariana album! there is something effortless about it; a quality that has felt at times entirely absent from her catalogue.
it feels musically carefree even as the lyrics are not, a lot of the melodies fresh for her, and i do like her over thicker, glossier productions (positions was so bare! and also felt like it really needed me to understand that ariana is indeed out here, in here, in the bedroom).
love the lenght (my attention span has been ruined). would have liked not to hear her take on vogue + the weird fusion of musical and nicki minaj esque THEY NEED RAPPERS LIKE ME on "true story" though

RE: Industry Plants, my theory is that we as an audience have become lazier when it comes to receiving something new on it's own merit.
Algorithms have fattened us up to only receive things that are EXACTLY as we like, and anything even slightly outside of that doesn't stand a chance. Some folks want new rock music, but not Wet Leg, not Last Dinner Party, not Maneskin, not Greta Van Fleet, not Olivia Rodrigo, not IDLES, but if only there was some new rock music (Coldplay headlining Glastonbury again?! Seriously?!).
Also the naysayers are louder now than they've ever been, and the Pitchfork/Spin/NME/MTVs of the world aren't as effective at ushering in something new. Today's audience would've hated Nirvana because it wasn't like Guns 'n' Roses (and how did their music video get everywhere so quickly?!), hated The Strokes because they weren't like Limp Bizkit (and how come they're already on magazine covers?!), and tried to hate on Billie Eilish (I see Jon choking back the Eyelash here, but The North remembers) for whispering her way to headline status.
Make no mistake, there is definitely legitimate criticism to be levied at all of the above. Unfortunately it seems most success today is found in only preaching (VERY LOUDLY) to the converted, yet the magic is when something converts the masses, and that magic seems increasingly out of reach.

@@SADDESTNIGHTOUT essentially the debate boils down to should Ariana Grande do such a slight release. A lot of people grew up on Dangerous Women and are starting to feel like those heights won’t ever be reached again.

as a gay man and musical theater quen who loves how unavoidably, adorably hetero you both consistently are....it's ok that you don't have an interest in the wicked movie. please do not see it. it will likely suck, but not for reasons people who admittedly don't like musicals to begin with will understsand, and that will be hard enough. ALTHOUGH, jon should try the original soundtrack. it's one of the poppier broadway records, and i do think he would appreciate defying gravity. keep up the great work!
