Excellent stuff. Reminds me a bit of Radiohead’s Daydreaming in some parts

Wow so interesting, I'd never heard of a Lumatone before! So are you saying it's 31 equal temperment?

This particular keyboard layout is, but the Lumatone can be programmed to use a huge number of keyboard layouts and temperaments. Note that the Lumatone is only the MIDI keyboard (except also has pitch bend and expression wheels and a socket for an expression pedal), and does not make the sound itself. The author posted that the sound generation is from the soft synthesizer Pianoteq.

is this just supposed to be a microtonal piano?

Basically. It's all that's on the market currently, unless you commission a piano custom made with microtonal intervals.

It's essentially a MIDI controller but with the keys arranged in an isomorphic hexagonal layout, so you can assign them basically whatever tuning you'd like without being confined to a standard piano layout. It comes with 10 different preset options for different key layouts and tunings, but you can also create your own and have different lights, notes, sounds, and controllers assigned to each of the 280 keys individually. Super cool piece of technology that I've only really scratched the surface of exploring
